In this compelling new episode of The Voice of Retail, host Michael LeBlanc sits down with Jean-Pierre Lacroix, President of SLD (Shikatani Lacroix Design)—a global design visionary whose work has shaped retail and brand experiences for more than three decades. Lacroix joins the podcast to share insights from his groundbreaking new book, Think Blink: Creating Deep, Lasting, Emotional Brand Connections in the Blink of an Eye.Lacroix opens the conversation by tracing SLD's remarkable 35-year journey, highlighting how the agency's success is rooted in one powerful idea: the “blink factor”—the subconscious emotional connections consumers make with brands in just a thousandth of a second. Drawing from projects across North America, China, and the Middle East, he reveals how the firm's global perspective continues to drive innovation and authenticity in today's hyper-competitive landscape.Michael and Jean-Pierre dive into the Think Blink Manifesto and its seven tenets—from “The Heart Wins Every Time” and “Good Design is Strategy” to “Measure What Matters.” Lacroix explains why businesses must evolve from incremental improvement to transformational change, focusing less on functional benefits and more on emotional resonance. They explore how simplicity, belonging, and sentiment measurement fuel loyalty and growth—turning customers into brand ambassadors. The discussion also touches on global disruption and resilience. Lacroix reflects on how events like the pandemic and current trade tensions have permanently shifted consumer behaviour, accelerating digital adoption and sparking renewed nationalism and community pride. He emphasizes that disruption can be a positive force—nudging brands toward reinvention and greater purpose. Finally, Lacroix unveils SLD's new AI-powered Think Blink analysis tool, designed to quantify emotional engagement using real-world data and social insights. He argues that artificial intelligence, when applied thoughtfully, enhances creativity rather than replacing it—helping brands align emotion with measurable business growth. Send us a textWe break things. That is what we as humans do. We have an almost innate compulsion to systematically destroy what is around us, usually in the name of greed, access, revenge. Even in the “greatest story ever told,” there is Judas. Who for 30 pieces of silver betrayed a friend with a kiss, ended a ministry, and yet was the match that lit the flame for one of the greatest spiritual, religious and controversial movements of the last two thousand years. We live in a world today that is being broken on the familiar wheels of racism, mysogyny, xenophobia, homophobia, and the demonization of the education system. And as our economy, neighborly feelings and social compacts once thought to be invioable are torn assunder, there are still the builders in our midst.DeLisa Guerrier and her husband (founders of Guerrier Development) have amassed a multi-billion dollar development and contruction empire in Nashville, TN to build housing for people who may not spark interest on the social register or on Moody's. They are building theme parks to celebrate, of all things today, reading. And activating the minds of our children. Green shoots of hope and possibility in a time of great tumult and great upheavel. All, sadly, self-inflicted wounds. What uplifts me in my conversation with DeLisa? It is the story of love and faith that have been the foundation of her work, and her belief that there is hope for tomorrow. Her message is clear: as our ancestors survived, so shall we - we will make it to the other side of this season of turmoil and rumors of war, we just keep driving and building through this storm. At the Podium WebsiteAt the Podium on IGPatrick on IGFor more information contact Patrick at patrick@patrickhueyleadership.com
Blink of an Eye (Star Trek: Voyager, S6 E12) was recommended by Sandy Cleary, she/her who said: I've always loved "Blink of an Eye." I like stories about history, and stories that feel epic by having some mechanism to take the reader from the present to the past, or by exposing them to a sense of scale that really captures the grand sweep of human history. The "where we've come from tells us why we wanted to come from there" narrative. Walter Miller's Canticle for Leibowitz, say, or the Babylon 5 episode "The Deconstruction of Falling Stars" that IMO transparently draws from it.In that same way, "Blink of an Eye" is the Voyager writers having used the main deflector to remodulate Robert Forward's 1980 novel Dragon's Egg. But here, I love how the framing device captures both the scale of capital-p Progress and the desire to explore and understand the universe—the kind of optimism that, on its best days, Trek has always been good at embodying. And I love seeing the evolution from making offerings to this strange new apparition, to making efforts to communicate, to the inevitable first contact. It is a story about well-intentioned people trying to make the best sense they can of a vast and mysterious universe, without real antagonists—where even the figures who would normally be antagonists, like the hawks in the military, are clearly acting in good faith. In this it reminds me of Close Encounters of the Third Kind, which also inspired my current journey. I think you could draw a direct link between "Blink of an Eye" and me changing my degree from linguistics to anthropology, and probably to the kind of approach I've taken whenever I need to write fantasy. Also, it's a great Picardo vehicle. Picardo's EMH, like Data (TNG), was theoretically on a journey to become more "human." The difference is that the EMH was always finding new experiences and *loving the hell out of them* rather than clinically tilting his head and going "well. That happened." He has the same breathless excitement here as he did in, say, "Message in a Bottle"—for mostly the same reasons and with the same mix of passion and humor that, I think, really makes him "work" as a character. Both Picardo as an actor and the EMH as a character are in absolutely top form. Finally, I'm a sucker for the extremely cheap trick of old people knowing that their lifelong goal has been accomplished. Daniel Dae Kim getting to watch the Voyager's departure makes me choke up every time.Blink of an Eye first aired on January 19, 2000, written by story by Michael Taylor, teleplay by Joe Menosky, and directed by Gabrielle BeaumontVoyager is trapped in orbit about a planet with a spacetime differential such that, while its inhabitants live through years, Voyager experiences mere minutes. The Joy of Trek is hosted by Khaki & Kay, with editing & production by Chief Engineer Greg and music by Fox Amoore (Bandcamp | Bluesky)Send us your recommendations, or support us on Patreon.Find us at joyoftrek.com · Twitter · Facebook

Michael Savage explores two main competing themes: the concept of a benevolent dictatorship versus a malevolent one, and how God can change one's fate in the blink of an eye. He discusses the idea of benevolent dictatorship versus a malevolent dictatorship. He then shifts the focus to spirituality, sharing personal anecdotes about near-death experiences and the significance of faith, perseverance, and hope. He recounts stories from his own life and those of strangers and friends alike. Savage shares comments from listeners about how God has transformed them through life-altering experiences.

In this episode of VoyJourn, we dive into Star Trek: Voyager Season 6, Episode 12, “Blink of an Eye.” When Voyager becomes trapped in orbit around a planet caught in a tachyon field, time passes thousands of times faster on the surface than aboard the ship. As centuries unfold below in mere hours for the crew, the planet's people evolve from a primitive culture to a spacefaring civilization—one shaped by the mysterious “sky-ship” they see fixed in their sky: Voyager. The Doctor volunteers for a mission to the surface and spends three subjective years there, forging deep relationships and witnessing their rapid societal growth. Meanwhile, Voyager's unintentional role in their development forces reflection on the Prime Directive and cultural interference. With standout performances—including guest star Daniel Dae Kim—and a profound exploration of mythology, ethics, and perception, “Blink of an Eye” offers one of Voyager's most moving and intellectually rich stories. We unpack the layered storytelling, the compressed history of a civilization, and what it means to be remembered not as invaders or saviors, but as silent witnesses in someone else's sky.
The human eye is incredible! Even though it has over two million working parts, it's the fastest muscle in the body. It also distinguishes millions of colors. And yet, our eyes often miss what's most important in life. When your son is on the soccer field, are you watching, or are you scrolling through social media on your phone? Can you detect when your son is frustrated, or do you not even notice? To connect emotionally with your son, begin by turning your eyes upon Jesus. When you do this, your role as a father will come into proper focus. But don't delay. In the blink of an eye, your son will be grown and out of the house. Influence his life right now while there's still time. For more encouragement and parenting advice, visit Trail Life USA or RaisingGodlyBoys.com.

Living Emunah 2717 In the Blink of an Eye Believing in Hashem's ability to bring salvation in the blink of an eye is an invaluable avoda . It is also something that is expected of every Jew to fully internalize. This is not always easy—especially after years of hoping and waiting without seeing salvation. A year ago, I met a rabbi who told me that he was davening for his 34-year-old daughter, who was still waiting to find her zivug . Recently, I met this man again, and this time he told me, "Mazal Tov!" His daughter, now 35, had just gotten married a few weeks earlier, and they couldn't be happier with the shidduch . We must never give up hope, no matter how long it takes. At the recent A Time Shasathon , a family shared their painful yet inspiring journey through infertility. A man explained that when his daughter was 14 years old, doctors discovered that she did not have a uterus. Naturally, this meant she would face a very difficult road ahead. Wanting to protect her, the family chose not to tell her right away. However, when she was 18 and in seminary , she found out. She understood the enormous challenge she was facing, and of course, she was distraught. Then, when it came time to begin shidduchim , the question loomed: How could she possibly get married under such circumstances? It was during COVID, and she met someone over Zoom. Their conversations went well, and they continued meeting virtually several more times. After about a month, she felt it was time to tell him everything. She explained her medical condition, and the young man immediately grasped the gravity of what she was saying. But at that moment, something remarkable happened—he thought of his grandfather. His grandfather had been engaged when he was told that his kallah was ill and had only six months to live. Instead of walking away, his grandfather said, "I believe in Hashem. Only He determines a person's time in this world." He went ahead with the marriage, and in the end, his wife lived for 22 more years. They had three beautiful children and many grandchildren—including this young man. Hashem had already trained him with the emunah and perspective he would need to marry this girl. He consulted with rabbanim and expressed his desire to stand by her side through life's journey. He received their beracha , and the wedding took place. Later, the couple began exploring the possibility of a uterus transplant. After extensive research, they were approved for a program at a hospital in Birmingham, Alabama. They had to move there indefinitely and wait for a match. Every day there felt like an eternity. They were alone in a foreign place, unable to travel for Shabbat or Yom Tov , since they had to remain on-call at all times, but they knew Hashem was with them. Then, on Shabbat Parashat Lech Lecha , while her husband was in shul , the hospital left a message—their match had arrived. Early Monday morning, she underwent surgery. It was during the week of Parashat Vayera , the very parasha that contains the words: " וה' פקד את שרה " —Hashem granted Sarah a uterus at an advanced age so she could conceive. That week, this woman was also given a uterus, and b'ezrat Hashem , she would one day be able to have children. In that same parasha , we read the words: " היפלא מה' דבר ?" —Is anything beyond Hashem's power? This was the beginning of the miraculous road that Hashem paved for them. Baruch Hashem , this past year, they were blessed with their first child. Everything is possible with emunah . The Rishonim discuss why there is a mitzvah to eat on Erev Yom Kippur . Many say that it is to provide strength for the fast the next day. This raises a question: If someone is ill and unable to fast, does he still have the mitzva to eat on Erev Yom Kippur ? The Sdeh Chemed writes that he absolutely does. Why? Because Hashem can heal a person in an instant, and by the time Yom Kippur arrives, he may very well be able to fast. The Sdeh Chemed uses the phrases: " ישועת ה' כהרף עין " and " היפלא מה' דבר ?" —principles that are so fundamental they even influence halacha . It is up to us to develop our emunah to the point that no matter what we are going through, we know—Hashem can always help us in an instant.
Welcome to this super-charged, explosive episode of Light ‘Em Up.We're currently being downloaded in 119 countries. We tackle the topics that touch your lives! On this episode we examine how our First Amendment (freedom of speech) and due process rights can be stripped from us and violated in a rapid series of cascading events that ultimately put our freedom and liberties in grave jeopardy. We travel to Michigan to speak with our special guest, Alison Reedy, the mother of young Dillon Reedy. The following events unfolded at Huron High School in New Boston, Michigan on December 8th, 2021.This is a case that every parent of any school child anywhere across the nation should be extremely concerned about.Imagine sending your 14-year-old son to school in the morning and by the afternoon he's been arrested, never Mirandized (according to his mother) taken in hand cuffs to the juvenile detention facility where he was processed into the system and issued a state (juvenile) criminal ID number — and forced to submit to a mugshot — ALL for something he did not do.The fact pattern showed that in a brief conversation with another student in class, Dillon was accused by the classroom teacher of making a terroristic threat to “shoot up” the school. The teacher incorrectly overheard what she thought was a threat. She later allegedly admitted that she never herself felt threatened, according to Alison. From there, common sense went AWOL.Dillon was “in big trouble”— the school secretary said to his mom — when she called to inform Alison to come to the school immediately. Wrongfully accused, wrongfully charged. Let down by a host of adults who should have been able to understand the difference between a credible threat and one that was not credible. This is a textbook case of a “rush to judgment” by over half a dozen school, municipal and county professionals and politicians, as well as the Huron School Board, any of which should have known better than to proceed with this case.Initial news reports regarding this incident were defaming, libelous and salacious and most importantly WRONG! Alison maintains that the county prosecutor was “rogue” … as the county was in possession of evidence that exonerated her son — yet, they chose willingly to suppress and overlook those crucial facts.“Negligence on all sides, a biased expulsion hearing and two off-record plea deals,” Alison stated. No one desires to see any violence on any school campus. However, this zero-tolerance policy for even uttering the words “shoot” or “gun” is an unconstitutional kneejerk reaction by the legislature and has led school administrators to make rash and very costly decisions concerning student discipline. The truth matters. Facts matter. Dillon Reedy's rights matter! If this happened to our guest and her son, certainly it can happen to you and your family. After hearing the fact pattern in this case you'll ask yourself:— Is this America?— Is the First Amendment still intact and applicable?— How can abuses such as this take place, everyday across our nation?Tune in to hear all of the explosive details. Follow our sponsors: Newsly & Feedspot. You can follow Alison on Facebook. Her group is called: My Son on the Alter. To vigorously defend against these false allegations this process has been a tremendous financial burden to her and her family. On top of the legal bills, she is attempting to raise funds for her son -- who maintains a 3.6 GPA -- so that he can realize his dream of going to college in Utah for computer science.Link to the GoFundMe Page. “I was thrown a couple of hundred yards away from the vehicle. When I woke up, I heard a voice saying, ‘It's okay. they're looking for you.'” ---------- Hi, Trapper Jack here. It's one thing to hear from the book of Romans, ‘God works for the good of those who love Him.' It's quite another to hear someone living it. In the blink of an eye, Susie's life was changed forever. So was her marriage and family life. But Susie and Eric highlight what can happen when we invite God into the darkest of situations. At the end of our conversation, I asked for the most recent example of joy in their lives. I don't want to give away what Susie said, but it is the perfect ending to a story with lots of bumps and turns. This conversation left me deeply inspired by how God can transform even the darkest moments into something good and meaningful, often ‘in the blink of an eye.' The shidduch process can be very frustrating, waiting for suggestions, waiting for responses. Sometimes, things look like they are going so well, and all of a sudden, everything falls apart. Sometimes, after waiting a long time, a prospective shidduch is finally set up. The girl begins getting excited, hoping this could be the one. Then, on the day they are supposed to meet, the boy calls in sick and somehow never follows through. Getting rejected or overlooked is considered tremendous yesurin . We don't know why people have to experience them, but for sure, they are accomplishing so much through their experience. Every moment of waiting is accomplishing different types of tikkunim that will benefit them for all eternity. As hard as it is to imagine, everything is happening exactly the way Hashem wants it to happen, for the person's benefit. If the person can stay strong in their emunah and trust that they are in Hashem's loving hands, the value of what they are experiencing will become exponentially greater. No matter how long it has been or how bleak it seems, we must always have the emunah of ישועת ה' כהרף עין -everything can change in the blink of an eye. Salvation can literally come at a moment's notice. Part of a person's responsibility as a God-fearing Jew is to always have hope that salvation could come instantly. The Jewish world was overjoyed when we found out last year that a Rosh Yeshiva in Israel had his first baby at the age of 88. The Rosh Yeshiva had lost his first wife in 2015 and then, at the age of 82, remarried a woman in 2018 who was more than 30 years younger than him. Six years later, she miraculously gave birth to a healthy baby boy. The Rebbetzin told the incredible story of how this shidduch took place at a massive gathering in Lakewood, and Rabbi Binyamin Prusansky related it in his new book, Living with Miracles . After marrying late and having a family, she found herself alone again. She was nearly 50 years old and had one dream: to marry a talmid chacham . She strengthened her emunah and prayed to Hashem to make it happen. In the meantime, she dedicated a sefer on tefilla as a zechut for herself and others, written by Rabbi Daniel Travis. She was hoping to get married within the year, but as the end of the year approached, not one shidduch had been suggested to her. One Erev Shabbat , she brought her son to the orthopedist to have his cast removed. On her way into the building, she slipped and fell down a flight of steps. She hobbled into the office and was told that she had pulled some tendons and might have a hairline fracture. When she arrived home, she sat in the kitchen and elevated her leg, resting her foot on a chair while her children prepared for Shabbat. As she sat there, she noticed her diary on the kitchen table. Skimming through it, she came to a notation she had made for Tu B'Av, which was just two weeks away. The date was circled, and written on the page were the words, Im Yirtzeh Hashem, My Wedding Day . Sitting there with her injured foot, just two weeks away from what she so fervently believed would be her wedding day, she felt dejected. She had worked so hard on her bitachon . How could this be the outcome? But then she caught herself and said, "Hashem can do anything. I need to remain hopeful—Hashem could bring me a shidduch in the blink of an eye." That Shabbat, she focused her thoughts and heart on building her confidence that Hashem could answer her tefillot כהרף עין . On Motza'eh Shabbat , a shadchan called with a suggestion—it was the Rosh Yeshiva. The shadchan said what set her resume apart from others was that Rabbi Daniel Travis, a student of the Rosh Yeshiva, was listed as one of her references. Rabbi Travis read to the Rosh Yeshiva the dedication she had written in his sefer , which expressed her profound love and support for Torah. Those words convinced the Rosh Yeshiva that he had found his zivug . Their meeting took place during the Nine Days. About thirty minutes into their conversation, the Rosh Yeshiva asked her, "What date would you like the wedding to be?" Unprepared for the question, she steered the conversation in a different direction. But then, ten minutes later, he asked again, and again she diverted the discussion. A few minutes later, he asked her if she wanted to get married, to which she replied, "Yes." "So when do you want the wedding to take place?" he asked. She said, "Tu B'Av is a beautiful day to get married." "Tu B'Av it is," the Rosh Yeshiva answered. And eleven days later, their wedding was held. It had seemed like salvation was far off. But the Rebbetzin renewed her strength in believing in ישועת ה' כהרף עין , and amazingly, she was married on Tu B'Av, just as she had hoped.

Louise Phipps Senft is a force of nature! She has excelled at the highest levels as an attorney, an author, a professor, fellow podcaster, and following her son Archer's 2015 spinal cord injury, an amazing advocate for individuals with SCI and their families. After having spent many months in ICUs and around her son's hospital bed, Louise realized that most hospitals in the US do not have Spinal Cord Injury expertise, most families do not have mediation skills which are essential for navigating complicated health care, and most doctors are not trauma informed. So, as she has done her whole life, Louise rose to the occasion! She founded the 501(c)(3) non-profit, the Integrative Center for Trauma Healing, Advocacy, and Transformation, IC THAT, d/b/a Blink of an Eye™, in 2021 to fill the gap for more relational and trauma informed responses for SCI families in crisis bringing them cutting edge SCI medical expertise as well as hope, emotional and spiritual support, and navigation how to's. Blink of an Eye™ is training medical teams from the inside out through the families served. Blink of an Eye™ public charity exists for those who know how life can change in the blink of an eye. Their mission is to transform the spinal cord injury experience for families and medical teams into an Extraordinary Experience, despite the devastation, in the first days and months of injury. Louise and I had a wide-ranging and candid conversation last week. I believe this episode will make you think long and hard about your life, and that of your loved ones and friends, because as we all know, it can change in the blink of an eye!

Buckle up folks, this one is wild. We continue our journey through early 90s cable erotica for women with Episode 208 of Red Shoe Diaries. This week we have David Duchovny actually playing for real with his doggy. There are vaguely European things, lots of establishing shots of castles that we never go to, a boxing ring in a stable, and some sex scenes that we think may have inspired Braveheart?
