Tiger Woods hasn't ruled out playing in this year's Masters, though Gio questions it. C-Lo's has clips from the Dan Le Batard Show regarding Al's comments on their producer. Evan Roberts shared a Valentine's Day memory from the Linsanity era, and news broke of the 49ers playing international games in Australia and Mexico City this year. The hour wrapped up with the infamous stories of an intern eating Mike Francesa's eggroll and Mike being caught eating ice cream on television.
The NFL Combine is next week, but the franchise tag window is where the money gets real fast. The guys explain why the Giants are unlikely to tag any of their key free agents, then flip to the Jets and the biggest call of the offseason: is Breece Hall a non-negotiable keep no matter who the quarterback is? It turns into a full running back market debate with Kenneth Walker as the comp, and a bigger question behind it all: what will the open market value more, production or “moment” hype? Then breaking MLB news changes everything: MLBPA executive director Tony Clark is expected to resign amid a federal investigation, and the timing could not be worse with labor drama on the horizon. Who replaces him, and does this embolden owners to push harder for a salary cap? Plus, Posted & Toasted delivers an all-time detour featuring Linsanity, a wild Disney story, and the ultimate New York rule: fold the pizza.
It's Tuesday at 11:30, which means it's time for Posted & Toasted, and the receipts are vicious. The crew rewinds the clock to peak Linsanity and finds an old Jeremy Lin tweet that instantly turns into a full-on roast, complete with Evan's all-time bizarre Disney World breakup story and a “watching the game on the toilet” confession that somehow gets even stranger. Then it gets worse. Sean Morash gets tagged again for another classic post, this one about switching to boxer briefs at 29, and it spirals into a full wardrobe timeline debate. Big Mac shows up with a Carmelo trade victory lap tweet from 2011, and the show closes with the ultimate NYC food take: fold your pizza, and don't you dare bring a fork and knife anywhere near it. Posted & Toasted delivers exactly what it promises: old posts, new embarrassment, and a lot of yelling.

Boomer & Gio are out this week so today it's Al and Jerry. We started with NFL Training Camps being only days away. Jerry says for the first time in a while there is a new positive outlook for the Giants and Jets. Al strongly disagrees, he's not falling for the hype again. Both agree they'd love to see Jameis play. Al is not buying Aaron Glenn's tough guy act. Al is amazed at how time passes. C-Lo starts his update with the Bluejays 9-game winning streak, Al wonders if we are still mad at Canada. Our former boss Spike Eskin thinks the Mets are cheating at home. The Knicks will introduce Mike Brown, but will there be media questions? Could Thibs coach one of the new WNBA teams? In the final segment we recall the many people who had “Lin-Sanity”. A caller has some suggestions for Al's vacation in Montana.

Some topics of our discussion include Adrian Tomine's graphic novel Shortcomings (2007), Gayl Jones' novella Corregidora (1975), and the cultural phenomenon of "Linsanity" and the lasting impact of NBA player Jeremy Lin's rise to fame. In Other Lovings, Seulghee Lee traces the presence and plenitude of love embedded in Black and Asian American literatures and cultures to reveal their irreducible power to cohere minoritarian social life. Bringing together Black studies, Asian American studies, affect theory, critical theory, and queer of color critique, Lee examines the bonds of love in works by Amiri Baraka, Audre Lorde, David Henry Hwang, Gayl Jones, Fred Moten, Adrian Tomine, and Charles Yu. He attends to the ontological force of love in popular culture, investigating Asian American hip-hop and sport through readings of G Yamazawa, Year of the Ox, and Jeremy Lin, as well as in Black public culture through bell hooks, Martin Luther King Jr., and Cornel West. By assessing love's positive function in these works, Lee argues against critical regimes, such as Afropessimism and racial melancholia, that center negativity. In revealing what Black and Asian American traditions share in their positive configurations of being and collectivity, and in their responses to the overarching logic of white supremacy, Other Lovings suggests possibilities for thinking beyond sociological opposition and historical difference and toward political coalition and cultural affinity. Ultimately, Other Lovings argues for a counter-ontology of love—its felt presence, its relational possibilities, and its lived practices. E and T Short: Gary Cohen with a call for the ages
Gary Cohen references ‘Linsanity' on the Francisco Lindor 9th inning HR that broke up the no-hitter and got the Mets rally going.
Hour 1 The Mets won again last night but Gio is still being cautious with his expectations for this season because of what happened 2 years ago. Boomer is not being cautious and is all in, but Gio said Boomer got to see the ‘69 Mets and the ‘86 Mets so he has seen them win it all. Jerry is here for his first update of the day and starts with the sounds of the Mets beating the Blue Jays and audio from the afternoon show's excitement with the win. Francisco Lindor hit a HR in the ninth to break up the no hitter. Juan Soto hit a HR in the same at bat he fouled a ball off his foot. Shannon Sharpe said he was embarrassed by the Instagram live that went out with the sounds of him having sex. Deshaun Watson met the media and was asked about the latest lawsuit. Aaron Rodgers called the season a ‘nice, slow Bolero'. In the final segment of the hour, Joe Buck's wife needed foot surgery after he hit her with a golf ball off the tee. Anthony in Belleville calls in and wants credit for stuff. Hour 2 Boomer was comparing Jim Harbaugh and Justin Herbert with Brian Daboll and Daniel Jones. Harbaugh was putting the fire into Herbert's heart, and that's what Daboll needs to do with Jones. Boomer thinks the relationship between Jones and the Giants was frayed because of the offseason Hard Knocks where he knew they were looking for another quarterback. Gio thinks he's a hard worker but he's just not good enough. Jerry returns for an update and starts with Gary Cohen's call of ‘Linsanity', after Francisco Lindor hit a HR in the ninth to break up a no-hitter. The Yankees walked off the Royals with a Jazz Chism single in the 11th. Juan Soto fouled a ball off his foot, then hit a HR. Shannon Sharpe accidentally put the sounds of him having sex on Instagram live. Ochocinco commented on this. In the final segment of the hour, a caller wonders how Gio knew that Sam Darnold would play well this year, albeit one game. Hour 3 Nick Bosa talked about playing the Vikings this week compared with the Jets last week and it sounds like he doesn't think the Jets are very good. There was an open mic at the Raiders facility where a reporter was trashing the team and QB Gardner Minshew. Gio is trying to decide what team to take in the knockout pool this week. A caller is sick of Boomer making excuses for Daniel Jones. Jerry returns for an update and starts with the Mets beating the Blue Jays, 6-2. The Mets were no-hit until the ninth. Lindor broke up the no-hitter with a HR and he thanked police and firemen after the game on 9/11. The Yankees beat the Royals in the 11th on a Jazz Chisholm single. Shannon Sharpe came clean as his Instagram live recorded the sounds of him having sex with a woman. Ochocinco was baffled and disappointed (tongue in cheek). Deshaun Watson met the media after yet another allegation from another woman. Boomer thinks he looks miserable. Daniel Jones is not getting caught up with fan reaction. Joe Buck explained what happened on the golf course when his wife wound up with a broken ankle. In the final segment of the hour, there is a Japanese restaurant in NY that does not allow tipping. We took a call from a restaurant owner who has a problem with Al's complaints about food quality and tipping. Hour 4 Boomer told a story about golfing with Dan Marino years ago where one of the guys in his foursome hit boomer in the testicles with a 200 yard drive. The Shannon Sharpe/Instagram story seems a little fishy as it's not so easy to just accidentally go live. Jerry returns for an update and starts with Shannon Sharpe saying he is embarrassed for having the sounds of him having sex were on Instagram live. Francisco Lindor hit a HR in the ninth to break up the no-hitter and tie the game that they eventually won. Moment of The Day: ‘They're eating the pets, right Eddie?' In the final segment of the show, Jon Bon Jovi talked a woman off a bridge in Nashville. Gio's favorite, Dua Lipa, will be profiled on 60 Minutes this week.

Lindor breaks up no hit bid in the 9th with game tying home run which opens the door to a six run ninth inning as the Mets remain one of the hottest teams in baseball down the stretch and keep pace in tight Wild Card race #MVP #LGM #LockedUpSports #Lindor #YaGottaBelieve #nyc #sportstalk
On this episode, we discuss our July 2024 book club pick The Sense of Wonder by Matthew Salesses, a contemporary Asian American novel following the story of Won Lee, the only Asian American player for an NBA team, and his rise to stardom during a period known as "The Wonder." Inspired on the real life Linsanity phenomenon, and the discourse surrounding it, we dive into Matthew's take on the Asian American experience (and K-drama tropes) through the eyes of the star himself, a Korean American sports writer, and a female Korean American entertainment executive.Books & Boba is a podcast dedicated to reading and featuring books by Asian and Asian American authorsSupport the Books & Boba Podcast by:Joining our Patreon to receive exclusive perksPurchasing books at our bookshopRocking our Books & Boba merchFollow our hosts:Reera Yoo (@reeraboo)Marvin Yueh (@marvinyueh)Follow us:InstagramTwitterGoodreadsFacebookThe Books & Boba August 2024 book club pick is Land of Milk and Honey by C Pam ZhangThis podcast is part of Potluck: An Asian American Podcast CollectiveMentioned in this episode:Listen to Inheriting from LAist & NPR"Inheriting" is a show about Asian American and Pacific Islander families, which explores how one event in history can ripple through generations.
