Honey Reposado - Wild and Buzzy. The Honey flavor is achieved by infusing raw fynbos honey into the Reposado before bottling. It is subtly sweet with hints of a smoky finish. This is great for someone who enjoys something a little sweeter. Best served neat or on ice. (NOTE: If the bottle is cooled in the fridge you may see some sediment particles in the bottle. Not to worry it is a sign of purity of the wild honey we use. It is the honey wax forming when it's cooled.) Suggested perfect serve: Single shot on a block of ice designed to be sipped from a tumbler glass Suggested perfect serve mix: Single or double shot with a Grapefruit tonic (Palomas) or Ginger Beer (Mexican Mule) and ice. Kombucha is also a great mixer. Suggested Cocktail: Mandarin Mezcal Margarita AWARDS Trophy for “Best Tequila of Show” – Old Mutual Trophy Spirits Show 2019 SPECIFICATIONS Volume: 750ml ABV: 40% 1% for the Planet - Helping rewild the Karoo (Note: because of an international denomination of origin, no-one outside of Mexico can make an agave spirit and call it Tequila or Mezcal). If cooled in fridge you may see some sediment particles in bottle. Not to worry it is a sign of purity of the wild honey we use. It is the honey wax forming when it's cooled. Send us a textThis week's episode is all about a pretty dessert square that requires absolutely zero decorating skills - just the way we like it around here! Erin makes a grapefruit shortbread square, but - plot twist! - she uses a pomelo instead of grapefruit (and a little lime zest). Here's what Wikipedia tells us about the pomelo: Pomelo is the largest citrus fruit. It is an ancestor of several cultivated citrus species, including the bitter orange and the grapefruit. It is a natural, non-hybrid, citrus fruit, native to Southeast Asia. Similar in taste to a sweet grapefruit, the pomelo is commonly eaten and used for festive occasions throughout Southeast and East Asia.Erin felt inspired by the Paloma cocktail (see below for the link to our Speakeasy episode about that!) and wanted to make a dessert bar that recreates that grapefruit flavour. The base of the bar is a delicious shortbread cookie crust, which you parbake before adding the topping. Parbaking is when you partially bake the crust without the topping, to ensure a crisp bottom and prevent sogginess when you add the filling. The tricky part of a citrus bar like this is getting the curd topping to set. It's made by whisking sugar, flour, eggs, citrus juice and zest, and a drop of food colouring if you wish. Pour it over the hot crust and then back it goes in the oven to finish it off. If all goes well, you will have a beautiful bar that just screams Springtime and Easter and, I don't know, birthday parties and high tea and summer picnics. FEATURED IN OUR MIDROLL: BIRTHING MAGAZINELooking for trusted guidance on your pregnancy journey? These nutrient-rich liver foods aid in liver detoxification and create a vacuum effect, helping you lose weight from the midsection. To make these natural liver detox smoothies, combine the ingredients with one cup of water and one cup of ice. If you are following a strict keto diet, you may want to stick to recipes without pomegranate or papaya. If you have been doing keto for some time and feel your body can handle a small amount of these fruits—please give all of the recipes a try! Always get organic fruit when possible, and try to keep your net carbs under 50g per day. 1. Spinach and kiwi Blend 1 cup of spinach with 2 to 3 kiwis. Spinach supports healthy blood sugar and can also help remove fat from the abdomen, while kiwi has properties to protect the liver against damage. 2. Spinach and grapefruit Combine 1 cup of spinach with 1 grapefruit. Grapefruit increases your sensitivity to insulin and increases bile flow. 3. Kale and pomegranate Cruciferous vegetables like kale aid in liver detoxification and have anti-inflammatory properties. Pomegranate also decreases inflammation and prevents fat from accumulating in the liver. 4. Papaya Combine one whole chopped papaya with water and ice. Papaya is loaded with enzymes that can help digestion and decrease inflammation in the liver. 5. Celery and blueberries Combine 1 cup of chopped celery with 1 cup of blueberries. Celery Increases bile production and reduces liver inflammation. Blueberries reduce liver fat, and their polyphenols help remove excess iron from the body. 6. Cucumber and lemon Combine 1 cup of each of these ingredients. Cucumber is hydrating and has electrolytes. It increases liver detoxification and can help prevent NAFLD. Lemon can also improve liver detoxification. 7. Avocado and strawberries Combine 1 cup of each! Avocado contains glutathione, one of the most potent antioxidants, and also has reparative properties for the liver. Strawberries help increase overall liver function and metabolism and remove fat from the liver. 8. Coconut and papaya Coconut contains lauric acid, which is beneficial for the immune system. It contains MCT fat, which turns into ketones. This combination decreases inflammation and scarring on the liver. Dr. William Davis developed a recipe combining fruit juice with a friendly microbe found in Florastor. Try this beverage to support the gut and suppress diarrhea and SIBO.

Hello Libration Nation! This week's book is Daring Greatly by Dr. Brené Brown, and I'm talking about it with my fellow librarian and library advocacy rockstar - Sonya Durney! Sonya is a passionate advocate for libraries and open education. Sonya is the Scholarly Communication Research & Teaching Librarian at the University of New England, is past president of the Maine Library Association, a member of the American Library Association Policy Corps, and serves on the executive board of the Maine Freedom of Information Coalition. As the Scholarly Communication Research & Teaching Librarian at the University of New England, Sonya liaises with the College of Business and the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences while actively contributing to various university committees, including the Open Educational Resources Steering Committee, Equity and Diversity Council of Chairs, and the University Faculty Assembly. Sonya holds an MLIS from Simmons College, a BA in Political Science from Framingham State University, and a doctorate in Public Policy focusing on Educational Leadership from the Muskie School of Public Service at the University of Southern Maine. Her research centers on the intersection of public policy and libraries, exploring how legislation shapes access to information. When she's not immersed in her work or reading, Sonya loves to spend time outdoors in Maine, enjoying adventures with her husband, son, and their beloved chocolate lab, Bourbon. The challenges librarians face today echo Brown's idea of “being in the arena.” Whether it's addressing book bans or advocating for community resources, stepping up despite the fear of criticism embodies the very essence of daring greatly, and Sonya shares her experiences and inspiration pulled from Brené Brown's work. Please continue to support your local library by visiting www.UniteAgainstBookBans.org and finding ways you can get involved. Our drink this week is a Mezcal Paloma to highlight Brené Brown's Texas roots, however she is also proudly sober and I wanted to honor that as well, so I'm also including a Paloma recipe using Ritual Zero Proof Tequila, which I have made for a previous episode. In the New York Times, the poet David Orr mourned the loss of Arnold, but noted it would “be a mistake to think of him as a writer silenced before his prime... His shelf space may be smaller than one would wish, but he earned every bit of it.”-bio via Copper Canyon Press and Poetry Foundation Get full access to The Daily Poem Podcast at dailypoempod.substack.com/subscribe

On today's episode, I talk to guitarist and composer Roy Montgomery. Originally from London, Roy grew up in Christchurch, New Zealand, and his first band, The Pin Group, was part of the forefront of the New Zealand post-punk scene in the early-1980s, that, along with bands like The Clean and The Chills, centered around Flying Nun Records. After this, he began recording on his own, and he began to draw acclaim by his second solo album, Temple IV, which was released on Kranky. Since then, he has recorded any number of fantastic albums, collaborated with groups like Bardo Pond and Flying Saucer Attack, and become a lecturer - and head of the Environmental Management Department at Lincoln University. His most recent work Camera Melancholia was released on Grapefruit a few years ago, and like everything else Roy does, it's wonderful!
