Jay Blasi has worked on multiple great projects in the world of golf course architecture. Chambers Bay, Santa Ana CC, and Stanford's Practice Facility, to name just a few. A voyage to the lone star state and Houston more specifically was a new journey for Jay but one that for my money he has aced.Lakeside CC is a 1952 Ralph Plummer original and was in need of a new look prior to Jay's work. The new rendition of Lakeside will feature more strategic intrigue, shortgrass, firm and fast playing conditions, and a convergence in difficulty between good and bad players. Taking inspiration from CC of Charleston and Yeamans Hall in Charleston, SC, Jay has implemented multiple template holes into the new version of Lakeside CC as well which I believe will be well received by membership. Both Henry and Walker had the chance to sit down with Jay during this podcast which made for a fun two part interview. We will have a lot more content coming on Lakeside CC so keep your eyes peeled on the social links below for more!Thank you for joining us today for our show. During this episode, Jay Blasi shares his experience designing Chamber's Bay Golf Course, the home of the 2015 U.S. Open. One piece of advice Jay shares about golf course design is to break the rules if there is a compelling reason to do so. Jay Blasi spent his initial years at RTJ II assisting the design team on dozens of projects around the world. His first opportunity to serve as one of the lead architects on a project team came at Chambers Bay, a true links layout on the shores of Puget Sound, in University Place, Washington. Blasi fell in love with the property on his first site visit, and spent the majority of his time on the project from 2004 to 2007. Jay says he deals with others in a variety of different ways, he draws plans, communicates and works with others on developing a game plan to create a golf course.
