fWotD Episode 3327: Early life and education of Donald Trump Welcome to featured Wiki of the Day, your daily dose of knowledge from Wikipedia's finest articles. The featured article for Sunday, 14 June 2026, is Early life and education of Donald Trump.Donald Trump, the 45th and 47th president of the United States, was born on June 14, 1946, in New York City to Fred Trump, a real-estate developer, and Mary Anne MacLeod Trump, a Scottish immigrant. Trump was raised in a strict household and developed a rebellious and braggadocious personality early in his youth.Trump enrolled at the Kew-Forest School, a private school affiliated with Fred, when he was five. He developed an aptitude for a variety of sports, particularly baseball. In his seventh grade year, Fred discovered that Trump had secretly been going to Manhattan, where he acquired knives. Fred sent Trump to New York Military Academy from which he graduated in May 1964.After graduating from the academy, Trump attended Fordham University from 1964 to 1966, studying economics. His college enrollment—and later a medical exemption—allowed him to defer the Vietnam War draft. Early in his sophomore year, seeking a larger business network, Trump transferred to the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, an institution favored by his father. He did not participate in extracurricular activities after his freshman year. Trump graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in May 1968 with a Bachelor of Science in economics. This recording reflects the Wikipedia text as of 00:13 UTC on Sunday, 14 June 2026.For the full current version of the article, see Early life and education of Donald Trump on Wikipedia. This podcast uses content from Wikipedia under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License.Visit our archives at wikioftheday.com and subscribe to stay updated on new episodes.Follow us on Bluesky at @wikioftheday.com.Also check out Curmudgeon's Corner, a current events podcast.Until next time, I'm neural Arthur.

In this episode, Amy sits down with Deborah Santana—author, philanthropist, and lifelong spiritual practitioner—for a conversation that explores what it means to live from inner sovereignty. While many may recognize her through her 34-year marriage to Carlos Santana, this conversation clarifies something more essential: Deborah Santana has lived a deeply self-directed life shaped by spiritual inquiry, service, and the willingness to begin again. Her memoir, Loving the Fire, becomes the thread through which we explore transformation—not as an abstract idea, but as a lived experience of loss, identity shift, and conscious rebuilding.Key Themes Explored1. Early Life and the Roots of Inner StrengthDeborah reflects on her upbringing in San Francisco, shaped by a family that quietly modeled independence and devotion. Her father, Saunders King, was a respected musician who chose presence over fame—offering an early model of values rooted in family rather than recognition. Her childhood was also grounded in spiritual diversity, moving between Pentecostal, Lutheran, and contemplative spaces. This early exposure created a foundation of spiritual curiosity that would later evolve into a lifelong meditation practice.2. Identity, Culture, and AwarenessDeborah shares her experience growing up in a multicultural environment, where belonging felt natural—until moments of racism revealed deeper social realities. These experiences did not define her, but they did shape her awareness. Over time, they became part of the “fire” she would learn to walk through rather than avoid.3. The Fire: Loss, Transition, and ReinventionA central moment in Deborah's life—and in this conversation—is her decision to leave a long-term marriage and step into the unknown. She describes this period with clarity:A sudden shift from a full, externally defined life into silenceThe loss of roles, identity, and structureThe necessity of sitting with herself, without distractionRather than rushing to rebuild, she allowed a period of stillness:Studying the work of Wayne Dyer and Thich Nhat HanhEngaging in self-inquiry through Al-Anon principlesReturning to yoga and meditation as stabilizing practicesThis was not framed as breakdown, but as disassembly for the purpose of reorganization.4. Loving the Fire: A Different Relationship to ChallengeThe central teaching of Deborah's memoir is simple, but not easy:Life is not happening to us—it is happening for us.She describes fire not as destruction, but as a condition for renewal. Like a forest that regenerates after burning, human life can reorganize into something more aligned—if we stay present through the process. This reflects a core principle in yoga therapy:We do not eliminate discomfortWe change our relationship to itWe allow it to inform growth5. Spiritual Practice as a Stabilizing ForceDeborah has maintained a meditation practice since her early twenties. During times of transition, this inner relationship became her anchor. She describes moments of:Deep peace in solitudeHeightened perception in natureA sense of connection beyond identityThese are not framed as extraordinary experiences, but as natural outcomes when external roles fall away and attention returns inward.6. Rebuilding with IntentionFollowing this period of reflection, Deborah began to rebuild her life in alignment with her values:Founded the nonprofit Do A Little, inspired by Desmond TutuProduced documentary films to support global humanitarian effortsWorked with organizations connected to Nelson MandelaBecame a founding donor of the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and CultureHer work consistently centers on women, girls, and collective well-being.7. Education and Lifelong LearningIn her 50s, Deborah pursued a master's degree in Women's Spirituality at the California Institute of Integral Studies. This experience reflected a pattern throughout her life:Learning as a form of self-developmentIntegrating intellect with lived experienceValuing wisdom traditions alongside modern inquiry8. Global Perspective and HumilityTravel—particularly to Africa—played a significant role in reshaping her worldview. She describes:A felt sense of humanity's originsA reorientation away from individual-centered thinkingA deep respect for cultural wisdom beyond the U.S. lensThis aligns with a therapeutic perspective: healing often expands when we move beyond our habitual frame of reference.9. Current Work: Courage and EmpathyDeborah is currently involved in developing the Courage Museum in San Francisco, a project focused on:Understanding violence as a learned behaviorTeaching empathy as a skillCreating immersive experiences like “Empathy Mirrors,” where individuals witness and feel others' lived experiencesThe intention is clear: violence can be unlearned, and empathy can be cultivated.Clinical and Philosophical ReflectionsThis conversation offers several points of integration for yoga therapists and healthcare providers:Transformation often begins with disruption of identityStillness and reflection are not passive—they are reorganizing forcesSpiritual practice provides continuity when external roles dissolveGrowth requires both self-inquiry and self-responsibilityMeaning emerges not by avoiding difficulty, but by engaging it with awarenessClosing ReflectionDeborah Santana's life illustrates a steady principle:We are not defined by our roles, relationships, or accomplishments. When those fall away, what remains is the foundation we build from. Her story is not about reinvention as performance. It is about returning to something more essential—and choosing, from that place, how to live.Learn MoreLoving the Fire by Deborah SantanaAvailable via her website and major booksellersUpcoming events and book tour information available online

Frank Vallejo grew up in Texas dreaming of serving his country. After six years as a police officer across two cities he was recruited to join the Border Patrol — and spent the next 18 years on the front lines of one of America's most complex and controversial assignments. In this episode of Locked In with Ian Bick, Frank pulls back the curtain on what border patrol work really looks like — from the human smuggling operations he dismantled to the major drug busts that defined his career. He breaks down exactly how smugglers operated and how agents spotted them, shares the heartbreaking stories from the job that never leave you, explains why the border wall actually increased security, and reveals how the catch and release policies of the early 2000s allowed millions of people into the country unchecked. This is the conversation about the border that nobody in the media is having. _____________________________________________ #BorderPatrol #TrueCrime #bordersecurity _____________________________________________ Thank you to RAYCON for sponsoring this episode: Upgrade your dad's everyday routine. You didn't burn your business down. You got bored — and nobody told you why. The Impulsive Thinker® finally digs into his own ADHD story. If you never fit in, this episode is for you.   In This Episode: Why masking and not fitting in hits hardest for ADHD Entrepreneurs How boredom and conformity kill the drive to build and create What happens when you mistake ADHD for being a "bad person"   What You'll Take Away: Not fitting in is the baseline for ADHD Entrepreneurs — not a problem to fix Masking starts young and scars deep, but doesn't erase who you are Boredom triggers chaos — your brain blows things up to feel something ADHD isn't the problem. It's the world's refusal to bend that breaks you. Diagnosing ADHD late means years of thinking you're the issue   GUEST BIOCassandra Morari is an ADHD brain and COO at The Rock, a Saskatchewan family ag-business. She knows small town. She knows family business. And she's been masking her brain for years. www.therackonline.com   ABOUT THIS EPISODE This episode of The Impulsive Thinker® tears the mask off the host's own ADHD Entrepreneur experience. No fluff. Cassandra Morari asks the questions nobody's put to The Impulsive Thinker® before — what did pre-diagnosis really look like? From growing up the oddball in a rural Catholic town to blowing up career moves out of boredom, The Impulsive Thinker® walks through decades of fitting everywhere but belonging nowhere. They hit on real ADHD challenges — masking, rejection, internalized blame, and how boredom and novelty drive business decisions. The Impulsive Thinker® explains that ADHD isn't the enemy. The problem is being forced to run on "society's measuring stick" instead of your own operating system. The worst damage isn't business chaos — it's the belief that your brain is broken. This episode is built for ADHD Entrepreneurs who know being different isn't a marketing slogan. If you're sick of pretending to fit in, hit play now.   Email me about it at andre@theimpulsivethinker.com. Remember — ADHD failure is measured on society's measuring stick. Not yours. Your brain runs on interest, not importance. That's not a flaw. That's a different operating system. ADHD is not a deficit. It's a difference.

In this episode of the Anglotopia Podcast, Jonathan Thomas sits down with Dr. Gary L. Stiles — physician, medical researcher, former Distinguished Professor of Cardiovascular Research at Duke University, and lifelong Churchill scholar — to discuss his new book A Prelude to Immortality, published by Unicorn Publishing Group. Gary's book is the definitive study of Churchill's most beloved work, My Early Life — his only autobiography, written in 1930 when Churchill was in his mid-fifties, and never out of print in nearly a century. Drawing on previously unpublished letters from the Churchill Archives, Gary walks Jonathan through the five specific reasons Churchill wrote the book, the remarkable ambulatory dictation process by which he composed it, the POW escape from the Boers that made him internationally famous, the strategic gifting of inscribed copies to over 100 influencers including T.E. Lawrence, Churchill's Nobel Prize for Literature and his complicated feelings about it, and the surprisingly human, vulnerable side of Churchill that his nanny shaped and that the history books rarely capture. The episode closes with a Churchill lightning round — favorite quotes, anecdotes, books and films — including the extraordinary story of Churchill reciting Hamlet from memory alongside Richard Burton at the Old Vic. Links A Prelude to Immortality by Gary L. Stiles (Unicorn Publishing Group) My Early Life by Winston Churchill Savrola by Winston Churchill (Churchill's only novel) Churchill: A Life by Martin Gilbert The Churchill Archives, Cambridge — chu.cam.ac.uk Chartwell, Kent (National Trust) — nationaltrust.org.uk/chartwell Darkest Hour (2017 film) Young Winston (1972 film) Friends of Anglotopia Takeaways My Early Life, published in 1930 when Churchill was 55, is his only autobiography — covering only the first 27 years of his life — and has never gone out of print in nearly a century. It was also the book most prominently cited when Churchill was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1953. Churchill wrote My Early Life for five specific reasons: to reinvigorate his public persona as the wilderness years approached; to describe the Victorian era that formed him; to tell his story in his own voice for posterity; to generate desperately needed income; and to inspire a post-WWI generation he felt was paralyzed by fear and disengagement. Churchill's writing method was "ambulatory dictation" — he would pace his library at Chartwell, mumbling and testing sentences aloud for cadence, rhythm, and word sound, while secretaries stood ready to transcribe. He never wrote My Early Life by hand; every word was dictated. The book is deliberately written in the voice of Churchill at the age of each event — as a frightened schoolboy, a cavalry officer, an escaped prisoner of war — not as a 55-year-old man looking back. This was a conscious literary choice to make readers feel what he felt, not intellectualize it. Churchill's escape from a Boer prisoner of war camp in 1899 — a 400-mile solo journey through hostile territory — was the pivotal moment that made him internationally famous and launched both his writing career and his political one. Captain Haldane never forgave him for it, calling him a cad; Churchill's two chapters on the escape in My Early Life are, in large part, a carefully crafted defense of his honor. Churchill kept fresh flowers on his nanny Mrs Everest's grave from her death until his own in 1965 — over 90 years — and kept her photograph at his bedside at Chartwell, where it can still be seen today. Gary argues it was Mrs. Everest, not Churchill's famously neglectful parents, who taught him humanity, empathy, and the capacity to care for others. Churchill was nominated for the Nobel Prize over 27 times in both the Peace and Literature categories. He won the Literature prize in 1953 — beating Hemingway, who came second — though he would have preferred the Peace Prize. Hemingway publicly stated Churchill deserved it, and had previously included Churchill's war writing in his own books as examples of great prose. Churchill was the original influencer: he personally managed the distribution of over 100 pre-publication inscribed copies of My Early Life to royals, politicians, business leaders, friends, and voters — with three handwritten iterations of the list found in the Churchill Archives, with personal notes on each recipient. Churchill's prodigious memory — which left FDR, Stalin, and his own staff in awe — was the key tool that allowed him to weave My Early Life from four earlier books, 13 major articles, and hundreds of newspaper dispatches, selecting and transforming individual sentences across decades of work. Churchill was not the impenetrable marble figure of popular mythology — he cried frequently, could be easily hurt, and never stopped seeking the parental approval he never received. Gary's research in the Churchill Archives reveals a side of him that is rarely discussed and fundamentally changes how you read everything he wrote. Soundbites "Churchill kept fresh flowers on his nanny's grave until the day he died in 1965. For 90 years. And he kept a picture of her at his bedside. If you go to Chartwell now, you can still see it. That's how close and important she was to him." — Gary on Nanny Everest and Churchill's lifelong devotion. "He was what I call stubborn. If he didn't want to study math or Greek or Latin, he just didn't — even at age twelve, he just told the teachers, I can't do this. I'm not interested in doing this. Which drove them absolutely crazy." — Gary on Churchill's unconventional education. "He would mumble. He would say words. He would say bits of sentences. Then he'd stop and say, no, no, no, that's not it. And then start again. He was listening to the cadence, the word play, the story he was telling — until he got the sound of the words, the pacing, the tone, the rhythm, and the message all clear." — Gary on Churchill's ambulatory dictation method. "He wanted to grab life by the throat. He wanted the post-WWI generation involved in politics, involved in social issues. He flatly states that if you do not make a difference in the world to make it a better place, your life is absolutely wasted." — Gary on what Churchill wanted the next generation to take from My Early Life. "Churchill was the original influencer. He sat down and planned who should get the books — Royals, business leaders, politicians, friends, voters. He went through three iterations of the list in his own hand, with personal notes on each person." — Gary on Churchill's strategic gifting of inscribed copies. "He would have preferred the Nobel Peace Prize. He wanted to be seen as the person who could get the Soviets, Americans, British and French together to create a calmer world. That obviously didn't happen." — Gary on Churchill's complicated relationship with his Nobel Prize for Literature. "Who's the bloody fool on the gray? Someone who wants to be noticed, I imagine. He'll be noticed — he'll get his head blown off." — the exchange Gary quotes about Churchill's habit of riding a conspicuously grey pony into cavalry charges to ensure he was seen. "It usually nauseates me. It's usually written by somebody who knows nothing about Churchill and what he really stood for. Churchill is a great name to drop when you want somebody to support what you're trying to support." — Gary on Churchill being invoked in modern political discourse. "Churchill begins to hear some kind of rumbling. He speeds up and the sound speeds up. He slows down and the sound slows down. And what he finally realizes is Winston Churchill is in the audience — reciting the speech from memory, out loud, word for word." — Gary recounting the Richard Burton / Hamlet anecdote at the Old Vic. "The price of greatness is responsibility. He turned that on himself. If you're great, you've got to be very responsible." — Gary on Churchill's favorite quote, first used in a speech at Harvard in 1943. Vanguard is the most effective vehicle ever created for participating in the fruits of American capitalism. Today it's the single largest equity owner of the majority of corporations in the S&P 500, on behalf of 50 million clients (including, likely, many of you). And yet Vanguard itself is essentially a communist organization — it has no shareholders, makes no profits, and operates more like REI than Fidelity. If you own a Vanguard fund, you own a piece of the firm itself. Any excess margin instead gets returned to clients in the form of lower fees, which since 1975 have added up to roughly five hundred billion dollars transferred out of Wall Street managers' pockets and into retail investors' savings accounts. And oh yeah, it all started as a cockamamie revenge plot by a guy who'd just been fired by his partners. Welcome to The DMF — Discovering Meaning in Film and Acting. I'm Justin Younts, and in this episode I sit down with casting director Tiffany Little Canfield for part one of our conversation.Season 6 is here. Tiffany Little Canfield is the perfect way to kick it off — a casting director who's been on both sides of the table and has a lot to say about what actors are getting wrong.Tiffany's path into casting wasn't a straight line. She started in acting, moved into directing — including work with opera singers — and eventually found her way to casting, where her directing background changed how she reads actors and scene work. That experience in the room as a director is something she brings to every project. We get into what a casting director actually does day to day, what it looks like to interview for those jobs, and how Tiffany thinks about actors differently because of her background. We also talk about the misconception around acting and fame, why continuous training is non-negotiable, how subjective casting really is, what self-tapes mean for the audition process now, and the biggest challenges actors are facing in the industry. In this episode we discuss:Tiffany's path from acting to directing to castingWhat casting directors actually doWorking with opera singers and how it shapes her approachThe misconception of acting and fameWhy continuous training matters at every levelThe subjectivity of casting and what that means for actorsSelf-tapes and how auditions have changedThe biggest challenges in the acting industry today00:00:00 - Introduction and Guest Introduction 00:00:28 - Early Life and Influence on Career 00:00:39 - Journey into Acting and Realization 00:01:57 - Transition from Acting to Directing 00:03:10 - Transition from Directing to Casting 00:09:02 - Understanding the Role of a Casting Director 00:09:45 - Interviewing for Jobs as a Casting Director 00:11:52 - Working with Opera Singers 00:13:21 - Understanding Actors and Scene Work 00:13:37 - Influence of Directing Degree in Casting 00:15:01 - Closing Thoughts on Actor Expectations 00:15:30 - The Misconception of Acting and Fame 00:17:08 - The Importance of Continuous Training for Actors 00:18:47 - The Subjectivity of Acting and Casting 00:22:04 - The Role of Self-Tapes in Auditions 00:24:29 - The Biggest Challenges in the Acting Industry#DMF #TiffanyLittleCanfield #CastingDirector #Acting #TelseyCompany #ActingTips #SelfTape #Audition #Filmmaking

Linda Goodman: Life and Legacy of the Sun Signs Astrologer

The Astrology Podcast

In this episode I'm joined by writer Courtney Ann LaFaive to discuss the life and work of the famous 20th century astrologer Linda Goodman, who wrote the highest-selling astrology book of all time. In 1968, Linda's book Sun Signs became a runaway phenomenon, selling millions of copies and becoming the first astrology book to make the New York Times bestseller list. Goodman's approachable writing style appealed to a wide variety of readers, and helped to catalyze a massive boom in astrology in the late 1960s and 70s, serving as the gateway for millions of people to discover their full birth chart. She then followed this up in 1978 with another successful book titled Love Signs, which was on relationship compatibility between zodiac signs. This book set a record at the time for the highest advance ever paid to an author, which was 2.25 million dollars, and helped to make the question "What's your sign?" a ubiquitous cultural catchphrase. However in her later years Goodman struggled to cope with immense personal loss, most notably the tragic death of her daughter in 1973, and her inability to distinguish between reality and illusion. Courtney is the author of a new book titled Follow the Signs: Searching for Linda Goodman, America's Forgotten Astrology Queen. The book is a memoir about a period of her life spent researching Linda Goodman's biography for her PhD thesis, and the difficulties she faced in the process of piecing together Linda's nebulous story. Together, we explore and attempt to document the incredible life, complex legacy, and lasting astrological impact of Linda Goodman. This is episode 536 of The Astrology Podcast. In June 2002, fourteen-year-old Elizabeth Smart was taken from her bedroom at knifepoint and held captive for nine months, enduring abuse that would have broken most people beyond repair. Against extraordinary odds, she survived, and then she decided to step fully into the public eye; not in spite of what happened to her, but because of it. She has testified before Congress, helped author a Department of Justice handbook for kidnapping survivors, and founded the Elizabeth Smart Foundation to dismantle the shame culture that compounds survivors' trauma. In this powerful episode, Elizabeth walks us through the night that changed everything, how she held onto hope during nine months of captivity, what justice looked and felt like after nearly eight years of waiting, and why she believes that being seen is one of the most radical things a survivor can do. In this episode, I sit down with one of my oldest and dearest friends, Sheeva Stephens, functional medicine and brain health specialist, for a deeply personal and empowering conversation about what it really takes to heal your body from the inside out. Sheeva shares her raw and vulnerable journey of being put on Adderall at 12 years old, navigating years of debilitating side effects, and ultimately moving across the country to wean herself off three medications—a process that became the catalyst for the life-changing work she now does with women all over the world. We dig into why so many high-achieving women are walking around chronically inflamed, dismissed by doctors, and stuck in bodies that no longer feel like home.  Sheeva breaks down the four pillars of her healing methodology, the most common symptoms women in their 40s are facing today (bloating, brain fog, anxiety, sleep disturbances, hair loss), and why hormones often aren't the real problem. We also get into peptides, GLP-1s, supplements, electrolytes, and the foundational habits every woman should be doing right now to reduce inflammation and reclaim her energy.  If you've been feeling "off" and can't figure out why—or you've been told by doctors that this is just how it is—this episode is your sign to listen to your body and start asking better questions. Out of the 1700 shows and hundreds of people I've had on my podcasts, people, often when they have me as a guest on their podcast, ask me what shows stood out. And my answer is citing shows where a message had a particularly valuable impact on my personal life. My first conversation with Arthur Brooks about the message in his book, Strength to Strength: Finding Success, Happiness, and Deep Purpose in the Second Half of Life, is one of these. The book came across my desk at a time when I was feeling burnout in multiple areas of my life. I'll always remember sitting on the couch in my study and reading the first chapter where Arthur depicts the exhaustion I and others in the 2nd half of life are feeling. And the propensity to look at just grunting out the rest of life, just trying to retire and escape, or...another option. To realize that our brains and beings were equipped, neurologically, to function one way in our early life, and a different way in our later life. My paraphrasing is to say, in the first half of my life, I was wired to create and build and innovate and conquer the world in essence. But that wiring decreases in strength over time. But now you have the wiring that is in essence, earned by all that effort. I now have knowledge of experience to impart. I have some guidance and wisdom to offer. It works this way in my life today, in the past, I'd start a new company and be CEO and lead the charge. Now I start a company, and I influence the charge. But I don't want to lead it. I've done that. I've been there. I have other things to offer now. I have recommended Arthur's book, Strength to Strength, to so many people. My peers. And I recommend it again as I queue it up for your benefit now. Since this book and conversation, Arthur co-authored a book with Oprah and I had him back on the show, and today finds him...everywhere. Harvard professor, multiple NYT bestselling author, and national columnist. If you want to connect with him just type in Arthur Brooks anywhere and you'll find him. I get his weekly article he writes for The Free Press. Sign up for your $1/month trial period at shopify.com/kevin Go to shipstation.com and use code KEVIN to start your free trial. Today, the fear of hacking into our government's sensitive digital information is one of the country's top national security priorities. However, what if the largest U.S. government hack in history wasn't perpetrated by a foreign adversary, but a regular guy with his home computer in London? Gary McKinnon, using off-the-shelf, legal software, was able to hack dozens of Government computers, some even located in the Pentagon. His goal: to spread his political message of anti-imperialism and search for evidence of extraterrestrial life. But what followed his hacks was a decade in which he feared extradition and a life behind bars in the United States. Some episodes just hit different the second time around.I'm re-releasing one of my favorite conversations with someone I've known since middle school in Severna Park, MD. You may know him now as the anchor of the CBS Evening News. But when we sat down to record this, I thought I knew his story.I didn't.Tony Dokoupil opens up about growing up with a father who was a federal drug trafficker, the nickname he carried in our hometown that I never knew about, how baseball became his lifeline, and how he ended up in one of the most iconic chairs in journalism...not because he planned it, but because he kept saying yes. This one is raw, real, and genuinely surprising. And if you've never heard this episode, then you're in for a treat!—--In this special re-release episode, Kara sits down with Tony Dokoupil, now the anchor of the CBS Evening News as of January 2026, to revisit a story that hits even deeper today. What looks like a polished, successful journalism career on the surface is actually built on a foundation of resilience, identity shifts, and unexpected turns. From a childhood shaped by his father's involvement in a major drug trafficking operation to rebuilding life in Maryland, Tony shares the moments that quietly shaped his path. This conversation isn't about chasing a dream job. It's about saying yes to what's in front of you, discovering your strengths along the way, and stepping into opportunities you never planned for.Listening now, with the weight of his recent promotion, this story lands differently.
