Living for Jesus will not be easy. There's no place in the Bible that ensures an easy walk as a Christian. Pastor Ricky wants us to be reminded of this in today's message but he also wants us to not be afraid. Though the people in Jesus' time opposed Him and even eventually killed Him, Jesus stood firm in His message of love, hope, and forgiveness. He had the truth on His side and His Heavenly Father strengthening Him daily. We too have the truth on our side, in Jesus Himself to give us strength and courage.

As we spend more and more time with Jesus reading His word and praying, we will begin to see his heart for us and for the people around us. Pastor Ricky today encourages us to take on Jesus' identity so that we will be able to have His heart for our community. The world has a standard they think each person should live up to but it tends to be self-focused and not generous and loving toward others. When we ignore the world and allow Jesus to shine through us, we will begin to make a difference.

Finding common ground on which to create unity is difficult. People's individual interests, backgrounds, and human nature can all cause distance to form. God however has created opportunities for unity, especially in the church family. He took care of molding each person to interact how He desires with others but He does ask us to not actively seek to undo it. Pastor Ricky today encourages us to work through the differences that arise in our relationships and allow God to work to maintain unity.

This world is comprised of so many different ethnicities, backgrounds, interests, and more. It can be hard to find common ground with others. We may try to create a connection based on one of those but that one thing may not last. Today Pastor Ricky shares with us the only common ground that can connect each individual, Jesus. Jesus does not discriminate against anyone but instead offers forgiveness and life to everyone. Adopting Jesus' attitude will change how we see the world.

People will say that they are exploring religion or that they don't have all the answers yet so they aren't settling on one thing. However Pastor Ricky today points out to us that we have all the answers. The Bible is packed full of information about God and His love for us. It gives us the truth we are searching for. God also provides answers to us through time spent worshipping Him and conversing with Him. The more time we spend with Him, the closer we will get to Him and the more trust will grow and remain.

Did you catch Pastor Ricky's life-altering declaration for us? In case you didn't hear it, here it is again, “This life is not about us”. We are not here on earth to have the most money, or the biggest house, or the best car, or to get to the top rung of the corporate ladder, or be famous. You're here to do something for God. Today we will be reminded that each job that God has for the people He created is different but in the end, the mission is similar, loving people as God loves them. God wants to bless us as we bless others.

Today Pastor Ricky's explanation for this deep desire for us to see wrongs made right and to see leaders of nations fix what's wrong in the world is that we long for the second coming of Jesus. Even the disciples that were with Jesus had an earthly kingdom on their minds when Jesus talked about His coming kingdom. One of the biggest lies that the enemy has told the world is that truth is relative. Today Pastor Ricky will be explaining that Jesus Himself said that He is the only way to get to heaven. This truth of Jesus being the only way of salvation goes against the very fiber of the world's system that's teaching that all religions lead to the same God. The truth of the matter is that there are many imperfections within the church. One thing we all need to remember is that the church is for those who are sick and in need of help. It's not for those that are well. Jesus said that He was the Great Physician, that He came for those that knew they were sick and in need of a savior.

When we truly believe that Jesus is more than a good teacher and more than a prophet and that He is God in the flesh, our lives reflect that belief. THE RESURRECTION OF JAIRUS' DAUGHTERJesus Ruins Funerals – Part 2Springcreek Church | Senior Pastor Keith StewartMarch 17, 2024#realspringcreekchurch #jesusruinsfunerals #resurrection #countdowntoeaster #easter #jesus #miracle #hope https://www.springcreekchurch.org/ Of all the resurrection miracles we're looking at in this series, this particular one is most unique in that it is coupled with another miracle that takes place within the story itself. There is so much we learn about Christ's compassion, His power, and what He intends to do for each and every one of us. Don't miss this second installment in our series, Jesus Ruins Funerals.DISCUSSION QUESTIONS1. The story of the woman with a chronic menstrual problem presented a unique set of challenges in first-century Jewish culture that it would not present today. But all of us can relate to some or all of the ways this woman was suffering physically, socially, religiously, and economically. What stood out to you most about this healing? Why did Jesus call this woman out from her anonymity and isolation rather than just continuing on with his journey to Jairus' house? How significant is it that Jesus called this nameless woman “daughter”?  How is her healing like what an individual experiences when they give their life to Jesus Christ?2. Pastor Keith commented, “Faith gives us access to Jesus and his power in our lives but it doesn't give us control over Jesus or His power.” Jairus may have struggled with the delay in ministering to the woman with the issue of blood (although the text doesn't say) given the seriousness of his daughter's condition. Have you ever struggled with God's timing? Have you ever wanted to dictate to God when, where, and how He is to answer your prayer? How does this story speak to that issue?3. Just like with the woman whom Jesus called “daughter”, Jesus speaks similar tender words to the dead young girl. Talitha is a term of endearment, like a pet name or a special nickname a mother might use for her daughter. In both of these miracles, it's not just the healing that is highlighted but also the restoration of relationship. Miracles are always bigger than we imagine. In the same way, we are not merely healed of our sin sickness, we are restored in relationship, brought back into the family, included, and made to feel special. When you think about what it means to be restored in relationship to the family of God, how do you hear God referring to you? What do we read in Scripture? What have you heard Him speak to your spirit?4. There is no question, these two miracles are intertwined. Those are so many similarities and contrasts that it could not be accidental. In what ways are the stories different? In what ways are the stories the same? In what way do both miracles show us what Christ will do on the cross and through His resurrection?BONUS QUESTION: Pastor Keith listed nine Markan Sandwiches in the extended message notes. Individually or as a group, take some time to study one of the other examples of this sandwich technique that Jewish writers used. Remember, the middle story often holds the key to understanding the story it interrupts. In the passage or passages you examine, what stands out about the middle story that helps you better understand the story it interrupts?1 - Jesus Family and Beelzebub: 3.30-352 - Parable of the Sower and Purpose of Parables: 4.1-203 - Jairus and the Bleeding Woman: 5.21-434 - Sending out the Twelve and John the Baptist: 6.7-325 - Cursing of the Fig Tree and Cleansing of the Temple: 11.12-256 - The plot to kill Jesus and his anointing: 14.1-117 - Peter's Denial and Jesus' Trial: 14.53-728 - Jesus predicts the failures of his followers and the Last Supper: 14.17-319 - The Women and Joseph of Arimathea: 15.40-16.8
