This week Anna is joined by Comedian and Writer, Juliet Meyers, talking about her rescue dog Homer. As a Portuguese rescue dog, Homer transformed Juliet's world and we chat about how little by little Homer successfully worked his way to becoming the theme of her stand up comedy. Using her platform with comedy, Juliet chats about raising awareness for dogs, venues being dog friendly and of course the trials and tribulations of juggling a career with a wily street dog turned key comic effect. With a remarkable ability to read the room, and knowing when its his turn on stage, Homer has succeeded in alienating some, but in the main winning people over proving the realm of comedy is might indeed be going to the dogs! To launch this brand new season, Rosie investigates and celebrates singledom. She speaks to Scummy Mummies podcaster Helen Thorn, who found herself suddenly single after twenty-two years of marriage just as the U.K. went into lockdown. Helen entered a sort of ‘separation boot camp', filled with sad songs and sneaky fags at the back of the garden, in the absence of being able to hug friends. But she revelled in the liberation of reclaiming the house, spending quality time with her children and discovering, via online flirting and dating, that her sex drive had suddenly gone through the roof. Rosie also chats to author and podcaster Francesca Specter, who has coined the word Alonement in order to reclaim solo time as a joyful and precious thing a million miles away from loneliness, and to happily long-term singleton comedian Juliet Meyers. It's time for another dose of Drunk Women and this week comedian, Juliet Meyers -with trusty sidekick Homer (the worlds best dog detective) - joins Taylor, Catie and Hannah to sleuth their way through this week's crime, which is set in NEBRASKA of all places, plus there's a connection to a crime featured in a past episode. Juliet starts proceedings with sharing some past criminal activities, which could very well be down to needing a few more Spanish lessons .. although that's doubtful. We then round things-off with a listener crime against a mum's cardigan!DWSC have a Patreon page, with videos and extra content, as well as ad free episodes, take a look here:- patreon.com/drunkwomensolvingcrime See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
Sarah Millican's hit panel show returns, using surveys to discover who is the most Average Jolene and who is the most Maverick Matilda. This week's sparkling panel features Scarlett Moffatt, Lindsey Santoro, Sindhu Vee and Josh Pugh. Surveys on subjects including childhood, daily rituals and favourite cheese are the basis for Sarah's questions to the panellists, discovering who is the closest to, and furthest from, the average. Surprising quirks, hilarious insights and unexpected anecdotes are revealed along the way. The winner will be the most average. But joint winner will be the most different - the furthest from the norm. A little bit like a dinner party, but one where you know all of the spoons. Written by Sarah Millican, Gabby Hutchinson Crouch, Jess Fostekew and Juliet Meyers. Produced by Lianne Coop. A Chopsy production for BBC Radio 4
Let's be honest folks: The words 'best' and '2020' are unlikely to appear in many sentences together. What a weird 12 months it's been. But hope springs eternal, and we're hoping for better things in the new year. Meanwhile, there were some bright points in 2020 for us at Worst Foot Forward, including our first live show, our first live stream and Ben's second baby! Along the way we were haunted by the ghost of Francis Bacon's frozen chicken, went on a round-the-world cruise with the Flat Earth Society, binge-watched Nollywood movies and adopted two geese called Norbert and Beep-Beep. Thanks to you all for listening, thanks to our many guests, and especially thanks to those who appear on this bumper compilation episode: Joseph Cullen, Terry Victor, Vicki Pipe, David Atherton, Bethany Black, Dr. Lucy Rogers, Jack Blackburn, James Shakeshaft, Delea Shand, Ola The Comedian, Ashraf Ejjbair, Lucy Jane Atkinson, Dom Nicholls, Seb Falk, Eleanor Morton, Mufseen Miah, Katy Schutte, Steve Cross, Nick Pettigrew, Juliet Meyers, Lee Kyle, Susan E. Connolly, Dr. Anna Ploszajski, Roann McCloskey and Joel Morris. Here's to 2021! Oh, and 2020? Go fuck yourself! If you don't listen to this podcast immediately then you're sure to get 7 years bad luck. We're joined by acclaimed writer and comedian Juliet Meyers to explore the folkloric world of Old Wive's Tales. 2012 #4: Andrew O'Neill and Juliet Meyers. After 2 days of nearly lost podcasts can we make it 3 in a row? All seems fine with the desk, but who would believe that workmen in the street would drill through cables and disrupt it all again? Well they did, but luckily Rich had switched on the Tascam as we get an 'interesting' chat with Steam Punk transvestite O'Neill (who manages to be funny sometimes too!). Jack the Ripper, Ian Huntley and the people of Sutton turn out to be comedic topics, as does the generally distracted nature of comedians and sex with Doctor Who monsters. Lots more besides and some great stand-up from Juliet Meyers.
