Even so, we got the boys back together for a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio to talk a little bit about the NHL, break down Anton Slepyshev's decision to stay in Russia, come up with a few hypothetical scenarios, and help us all kill an hour of our day. At this point, the only update we've received is that he made it through surgery to remove a colloid cyst but remains in the coma to ease the pressure on his brain. From there, we moved onto Anton Slepyshev's decision to remain in Russia for the next couple of years rather than coming back to Edmonton for a second tour of duty. Is this a big loss for the Oilers? Should we care that he didn't want to come back? Of course, those explanations and ideas were about as vague as anything the Oilers have presented yet, which left many Oilers fans with a sour taste in their mouth. With the Oilers missing the playoffs for the 12th time in the last 13 years, it's hard to blame the fans for being cynical. Speaking of the playoffs, the guys debated on how much playoff hockey they'll be watching or if the Oilers missing out again makes it too painful. Next up, Baggedmilk walked the boys through the #NationRoadTrip to Calgary and what it was like to see Connor McDavid go down with what seemed like a broken leg at the time. The Edmonton Oilers are indeed sellers for the 2019 NHL trade deadline coming up on Feb. 25. They dealt goalie Cam Talbot to the Philadelphia Flyers for Anthony Stolarz in order to clear salary cap room for defenceman Andrej Sekera, who returned to the Oilers lineup from injury.
