The Portland Trail Blazers front office continues to take shape under Joe Cronin as the team is set to hire Sergi Oliva. This is the third assistant GM Cronin has hired as he fills out his staff with a variety of skill sets. Oliva most recently worked as an assistant coach under Quin Snyder in Utah after six seasons in Philadelphia where he was promoted up the ranks and eventually held the title of Vice President and Director of Analytics and Strategy. Oliva brings a data driven, analytics mind to a front office that recently added Mike Schmitz a ESPN draft analyst praised for his scouting/amateur basketball acumen. In January, the Blazers added assistant GM Andrae Patterson, who took on a player personnel and internal communications role. Cronin is adding balance to his front office with three assistant GMs with specific and diverse background and areas of expertise. To close the show we answer a couple listener questions about trading up in the draft and how the Blazers might respond if one of the top five picks slips to them at the seventh spot on draft night. The Trail Blazers are reportedly hiring ESPN draft analyst Mike Schmitz to fill their newly vacant assistant GM position as Joe Cronin continues to build out his front office staff. We go deep on Schmitz's background from as a blogger for a Phoenix Suns fan site, to a video coordinator in the G League to a decade long career scouting draft prospects for various media outlets. It's been a fast but interesting road for the 32-year-old who now will likely take over a major scouting role for the Blazers in his first job with an NBA team. Cronin has rebuilt the front office, What does it say about his vision for the franchise and how will we know if the restructuring and new hires have the Blazers headed in the right direction? To close the show Sirius XM radio host and Pelicans broadcaster Antonio Daniels joins to talk about the future of the Blazers, Anfernee Simons' potential and his lone but memorable season in Portland in 2002-03. Chris Carter, NFL and NCAAF analyst, hosts the Locked on Steelers podcast, and is joined by Tony Serino of AFC North Talk. The Pittsburgh Steelers announced Omar Khan as the new GM Wednesday, along with Andy Weidl of the Philadelphia Eagles being Assistant GM and Sheldon White of the Detroit Lions also joining the front office. Does this mean a shift to more analytical approaches for the Steelers' front office than the days of Kevin Colbert? Also, Mitch Trubisky continues to look like the team's top quarterback in OTAs. Will that hold off Kenny Pickett? Kevin Dotson says that James Daniels is looking like the Steelers' new leader on the offensive line. But what needs to be done for Mason Cole, Kendrick Green, Chukwuma Okorafor and Dan Moore Jr. to come together to make the offensive line that will let the young Steelers' offense take flight? Chris Carter, NFL and NCAAF analyst, hosts the Locked on Steelers podcast. Reports from several national and local reporters indicate the Pittsburgh Steelers will choose Omar Khan to be the team's new GM, and Andy Weidl to be Assistant GM. Khan has spent the past 21 seasons working in the Steelers' front office, with his most recent title being Vice President of Football and Business Administration. Andy Weidl has 24 years of NFL front office experience and is the current Philadelphia Eagles Vice President of Player Personnel. The two decisions could mean the departure of Brandon Hunt, who was thought to be a frontrunner for the Steelers GM search and has served as the team's Pro Scouting Coordinator since 2010. NOTE: Because the full Wednesday episode of Locked on Steelers was already filmed and posted by the time this news broke, this news will not appear in the Wednesday full episode. Host Jeff Lloyd is joined by Sports Illustrated's Pete Smith to talk the latest Browns news. The Browns are once again going to buck the trend with the hiring of new Assistant GM in Catherine Raiche, who will replace Kwesi. Perrion Winfrey dominated the draft cycle, what light went on for him between the conclusion of his career at Oklahoma to tearing it up at the Senior Bowl?
