It's Friday afternoon, which means a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio is ready to massage your eardrums with an hour of off-season Oilers talk. On today's podcast, the fellas discussed Darnell Nurse's trade request, where he might end up, the Mike Babcock situation, line combinations, and more.We kicked off the Friday episode of ONR with a delicious debate about whether or not Darnell Nurse carries more risk than some fans are acknowledging. Given the minutes he plays and his constant availability, it's worth having a discussion about whether or not moving on from the player will create a bigger hole than some people think. While there's no debate that the contract has become an issue, there is still a strong hockey player there that the team will likely be without when the next season rolls around.Shifting gears, the guys continued with the Darnell Nurse conversation with a look at what trading him might even look like. His contract is obviously a massive part of the story when it comes to moving him, but that shouldn't suggest that Nurse carries zero value on the trade market. But what kind of trade should Oilers fans even expect? From there, the boys spoke about the never-ending coaching drama that's raging on after news broke earlier in the week that the team is interested in Mike Babcock. Finally, we wrapped up the Friday episode of ONR with another round of betting talk, Ask the Idiots questions, and Hot and Colder Performers to wrap up the week. The guys also discussed the Stanley Cup Final and how the Carolina Hurricanes have a chance to close things out in Game 6 on Sunday night. They also discussed the NBA Finals and how the Knicks' comeback wins have been wild to watch. Speaking of wild to watch, seeing Knicks fans beating up Spurs fans just for wearing team merch ranks right up there for being nuts.

It's Friday afternoon, which means a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio is ready to massage your eardrums with an hour of off-season Oilers talk. On today's podcast, the fellas discussed the Mike Babcock coaching hire, the public's reaction to the move, line combinations, and more.We kicked off the Tuesday emergency episode of ONR with a look at the Oilers' decision to bring in Mike Babcock as their new head coach. After weeks of hearing Bruce Cassidy's name as the main target for the job, it was a stunning development to see Mike Babcock's name attached to the team, given all of the recent history and baggage associated with this specific candidate. While there's zero doubt about the resume, the reality is that not much has gone well for Babcock since winning with Detroit nearly 20 years ago. Needless to say, the fanbase's reaction was as spicy as expected, and that's why we gathered for an emergency episode of ONR to break things down.Sticking with the Babcock conversation, we looked back at some of his coaching controversies and wondered whether the Oilers will be asking for him to change, or if the franchise is expecting that same guy to show up and turn things around. Given the franchise's messaging that they wanted a firmer approach behind the bench, it always seemed like it would be a short list of candidates, but the boys certainly didn't think there was a world where Babcock was the solution. Finally, we wrapped up the Tuesday episode of ONR with a quick update on some of the drama that's kicked up at Nation HQ over the last week, including the growing Duck Mystery and the fallout from the office World Cup draft.

Is goaltending still the biggest issue? Can the Oilers rebound after a disappointing season? On today's podcast, the fellas discussed the Darnell Nurse rumours, free agency, the Stanley Cup Final, line combinations, and more.We kicked off the Friday episode of ONR with a delicious debate about the Darnell Nurse rumours that kicked up this week after Mark Spector wrote an article at Sportsnet, citing that the player and team are heading for a split. And while the rumours certainly got Oilers fans talking, there is no guarantee that Stan Bowman will be able to find a suitor for a contract this big. There's also the angle that removing Darnell Nurse creates a 20-minute hole on the back end that will need to be filled.Shifting gears, the boys looked at a burgeoning scandal that's happening at Nation HQ after a bunch of tiny plastic duckshades had been appearing around the office. As you'll hear, the appearance of the Ducks around the office has prompted an offseason investigation that is taking up everyone's bandwidth until the mystery is solved. Getting back to hockey, the boys spent some time looking at the Stanley Cup Final, and how both teams are showing reasons why either could win. Finally, we wrapped up the Friday episode of ONR with another round of Ask the Idiots, betting talk for our friends at bet365, and Hot and Cold Performers to look back on the week that was. While it's definitely unfortunate to see that Bouchard got injured, the boys made a good case for why he should have gone to this tournament, given his hopes of playing for the Canadian Olympic team. Shifting gears, the boys looked at the latest news on the Oilers' coaching search, including quotes from Kelly McCrimmon and Bruce Cassidy after they were asked about the situation. Despite Kelly McCrimmon saying the Oilers leaked the story and that they don't want to talk about this any further, Vegas' GM keeps booking himself for radio appearances where he invariably gets asked about it. But with the summer just getting started, the chances of any of this noise going away are next to zero.Shifting gears, the boys looked at the latest rumblings in the Oilers' coaching search, even though literally nothing has happened. Given that there will be plenty of changes over the summer, the guys looked at the four most talked-about names and took a few swings at who they think will be around when October rolls around. That led to a debate about which of those guys are likely to be around, not because they're necessarily wanted, but rather because contracts make it likely. Shifting gears, the boys looked at Evan Bouchard being snubbed from being a Norris Trophy finalist. From the team not being good enough to even taking steps backward, the messaging from the Oilers' best players was as blunt as you could get. Needless to say, when Draisaitl and McDavid speak as honestly as they do, Edmonton's management desperately needs to take notice. Shifting gears, the boys called David Quadrelli from Canucksarmy to see if they could pitch him a trade proposal live on the podcast, with the Oilers sending Tristan Jarry or Darnell Nurse to Vancouver to clear cap space. Given that Nathan MacKinnon has been the favourite all season long, everybody on the podcast seems to think it's too late in the season for McDavid to get the attention he deserves. Even though McDavid has gone supernova, there seems to be voter fatigue about Connor winning again.Shifting gears, Tyler went on a rant about Cole Caufield getting love for scoring a "clean 50" goals without a single empty-netter. As you'll hear, Caufield's milestone is being celebrated as unique, but Tyler's research showed that it actually happens much more often than people might expect. The guys also walked through the latest injury updates for Connor Ingram and Jason Dickison, two players who are expected to be massive pieces of the Oilers' playoff push. Finally, we wrapped up the Friday episode of ONR with another round of Ask the Idiots, betting talk for our friends at bet365, and Hot and Cold Performers to look back on the week that was. Shifting gears, the guys looked at Leon Draisaitl's injury and wondered whether he'll be ready to go before the initial timeline. The Oilers are scoring goals — but keeping the puck out of the net has been the bigger challenge lately. On this week's episode of Ask Dubey, Dubey opens the show by breaking down Edmonton's recent stretch of games following the Olympic break, including a massive comeback win over Ottawa and a monster performance from Leon Draisaitl, who put up five points in the victory. But the bigger conversation quickly shifts to what Oilers fans are watching closely right now: goaltending and team defense. Dubey explains why defensive inconsistencies and goaltending struggles are showing up at the same time — and why it's something the team needs to clean up before the playoffs. From there, Dubey answers listener questions on everything from the decline in NHL save percentages to the challenges goalies face in today's high-skill, offense-driven league. The episode also dives into:• Why scoring chances in today's NHL are more dangerous than ever• Whether Dubey could realistically come out of retirement for a playoff run• Tips for minor hockey coaches trying to help develop young goalies• Who should start Game 1 of the playoffs for Edmonton• Why both the team and the goalies share responsibility for defensive strugglesAs always, it's a mix of goalie insight, Oilers talk, and behind-the-scenes perspective from someone who's been in the crease at the NHL level.Drop your questions for future episodes using #AskDubey in the comments or on social. As always, drop your questions using #AskDubey on Oilersnation social channels or in the comments below.SHOUTOUT TO OUR SPONSORS!!

Given that Stan Bowman's work all got done in the days leading up to the deadline, it's fair to wonder whether the Oilers added enough to keep up with the rest of the Western Conference. At the same time, one could argue that Bowman addressed some major roster holes despite the deals being relatively minor.Shifting gears, the guys looked at what is going to be a very tough handful of games for the Oilers, as they kick off a run of four against the Hurricanes, Golden Knights, and Stars. If ever there was a run of measuring stick games on the post-deadline schedule, this next week has to be it. While many Oilers fans were hoping for more, it's hard to argue that Bowman didn't pull trigger on a handful of players who could help plug some holes. Aside from Rick feeling fine about both results, the rest of the boys were notably upset about the blown opportunity against Anaheim. That said, the Oilers are so inconsistent right now that it's hard to imagine how back-to-back games could end so differently. Shifting gears, the guys looked at Tristan Jarry's struggles between the pipes and how his first couple of months as an Oiler have been anything but uplifting.
