Thursday afternoon means a fresh episode of Real Life was recorded, edited, and is ready to help you through the rest of your workweek. On today's podcast, the guys discussed the Oilers' series-clinching win, Stuart Skinner posting back-to-back shutouts, and much more. The guys kicked off the Thursday episode of Real Life with a random conversation about Instagram ads and how you can sometimes be following an account only to have them pivot to the weirdest posts for cash. That led the guys to wonder what the model is for these accounts to abandon their normal content in favour of ads that annoy all of their followers. Clearly, there's money to be made, but is that angle the right one?Turning back to the Oilers, the team walked through the series-clinching win in Game 5, discussing how it was an incredible victory given how tight the game ultimately shook out. The most impressive part of that win was how the Oilers were able to suppress the Golden Knights offensively, leaving them with next to nothing in the offensive zone. Equally impressive was the way Edmonton kept getting depth goals at key moments when we needed them most.Changing gears, the guys took a look at some news from around the NHL to share their thoughts on what's been happening. Starting with Sam Gagner signing in Ottawa in player development to the Toronto Maple Leafs imploding on themselves in Game 5 at home, the Thursday episode of the podcast was all over the map and arguably the most fun the boys have had in a minute.

The Edmonton Oilers trip down to Sunrise, Florida, couldn't have gone worse. In Game 1 they played well but couldn't beat Sergei Bobrovsky, who stopped all 32 shots he faced. Then in Game 2, there was a glimmer of hope when Mattias Ekholm scored to give the Oilers the lead. However, the belief fell apart after the Panthers scored four unanswered goals to seal the win. Now, the Oilers head back home down 2-0 in the Stanley Cup Final. The last team to be down 2-0 in a Stanley Cup Final and win was the 2011 Boston Bruins. Can the Oilers now find their inner Bruin? After a long travel day yesterday, Tyler Yaremchuk and Liam Horrobin are back for a new edition of Oilersnation Everyday. What happens if Darnell Nurse isn't healthy to play? Should the Oilers make more lineup changes and maybe bring in Sam Gagner?Tyler and Liam will look at all of that and more on Oilersnation Everyday live at noon.

This week, we recapped the Oilers' last two games, Sam Gagner being back in the lineup, silly szn rumours, and previewed tonight's matchup versus the Detroit Red Wings.Kicking off the fresh episode of ONR, we started with a conversation about the Edmonton Oilers' trade deadline needs and whether we would prefer that Ken Holland use assets to acquire a forward or a defenceman. Does this team need more scoring, or would they be better off adding another defender who can keep pucks out of the net?Changing gears, we looked back at the last few days since the last podcast and talked about who delivered for us despite the results not necessarily going the way we wanted. Considering that the Oilers have a bunch of players that are not playing their best right now, the list of guys that need to step their games up is growing by the day. Next, we worked through the end of the podcast with a random collection of topics, including Woz's signature segment (Can You Clear That Up For Me), a look at some of the latest Silly Szn rumours, Morgan Rielly vs. Ridley Grieg, and offered a quick preview of tonight's matchup against the Detroit Red Wings. It's Friday afternoon, and the Oilers can't stop winning, which means there was plenty to discuss on the Friday episode of Oilersnation Radio. This week, we're looking at the Oilers' win streak, Zach Hyman's incredible season, Corey Perry's debut, and a whole lot more. Kicking off the Friday episode of ONR, we started the podcast with a debate about what has been the most surprising part of this 15-game win streak. Whether it was the depth scoring, the goaltending, or the goalies standing on their heads, the most incredible part about this heater is how many different players are contributing to the team's success. We also talked about how other fanbases are trying to diminish Edmonton's achievement even though no other teams have been able to do what they've done. Changing gears, we dove into Corey Perry's Oilers debut, which is set to happen tomorrow against Nashville, and what we expect from the former Anaheim Duck in his first game with his new team. Given that the team is buzzing right now, does it even make sense to pull Sam Gagner out of the lineup in favour of a player who hasn't played in a couple of months? Lastly, we wrapped up the Friday episode of Oilersnation Radio with another round of Ask the Idiots, Kennedy's quote game, and Hot and Cold performers. Hosted on Acast. It's amazing how much more fun it is to talk about the Edmonton Oilers in the midst of a 14-game heater than it was when they started the season at 2-9-1.Kicking off the Thursday episode of Real Life, the guys looked at the Oilers' incredible winning streak and how they have an opportunity to cash in on a 15th consecutive victory. Talking about the win streak led the guys to swoon about Sam Gagner's contributions to the team and how they cannot wait to see him play his first playoff game with the team that drafted him. Changing gears, Tyler told a story about his basement flooding this morning. If you remember, this is the second flooded basement he's been involved in, but now it's in his own house instead of his father-in-law's house.Turning the podcast back toward the Oilers, the guys tried to determine whether the Oilers would have been able to get close to their current level if Jay Woodcroft had not been around. Or has Kris Knoblauch changed things enough to have the Oilers buzzing the way they are? Combination of both? Regardless of where your opinion lies, the good news is that we're here and that Woody is still getting paid anyway. With no topics on the list, Tyler then walked through a bunch of historical cap information, and the guys played a game of guessing which players made more money. Hosted on Acast. Speculation has brewed for a many weeks now, but the Edmonton Oilers made it official this morning signing Corey Perry to a one year league minimum contract. The Edmonton Oilers have returned from their short Christmas break with a purpose and that was on full display over the weekend. On Saturday despite a slow start, Edmonton fought back from 2-0 to tie game with two goals in the second period. With no goals in the third or overtime, a shootout was the only way to decide the difference between the two teams. An unlikely hero in Derek Ryan stepped up to give the Oilers two points. The following night, the Oilers crushed the Anaheim Ducks 7-2 with five even strength points coming from Warren Foegele. Foegele became the first player to do that since Sam Gagner's famous eight point game versus the Chicago Blackhawks in 2012.It's safe to say things are going much better now for the Oilers. Tonight, they have another tough test on their hands taking on the Philadelphia Flyers. The Flyers sit third in the Metropolitan Division, which is shocking considering most had them finishing last. The Edmonton Oilers extended their win streak to eight games last night after a 4-1 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks. Things didn't look pretty to start, though. Rookie sensation Connor Bedard scored a fantastic goal, which would've beat every goaltender in the NHL. However, that was the only ounce of success the Blackhawks found last night. From then on, the Oilers took control of the game, entering the first intermission with a 2-1 lead. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins opened the scoring for Edmonton, tucking home his sixth of the season just under the crossbar. Shortly after, Sam Gagner scored the second with his fourth. In the back 40, Leon Draisaitl got a fortunate bounce that beat Petr Mrazek, and Zach Hyman sealed the win with a powerplay goal in the third. Overall, it wasn't the Oilers' best game of this streak, but they found a way to secure two points, which is something they couldn't do earlier in the year. The Edmonton Oilers almost let two points slip away last night in the third period but managed to hold on and secure the win in a shootout over the Vegas Golden Knights. Heading into the third period, the Oilers held a 4-2 lead over Vegas. Sam Gagner opened up the scoring in his return to the lineup with his third of the year in the first period. In the second, Edmonton scored three, with Mattias Janmark getting his first goal of the season, along with Connor McDavid and Evander Kane. However, the Golden Knights never went away. Mark Stone and Mike Amadio scored in the second period, and then later in the game, Ben Hutton and Keagan Kolsar scored to send the game into overtime. Overtime would solve nothing, though, so in the shootout, McDavid and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins scored to give the Oilers the win and two points. It's so much more exciting to be recording Better Lait Than Never after a run of wins as opposed to the Oilers getting shelled all the time. Needless to say, today's episode of the podcast was a little bit more uplifting than they have been over the last few weeks.Kicking off this week's episode of BLTN, I jumped in with some Oilers news after the team beat the Vegas Golden Knights for their third consecutive win. That's not to say it was the prettiest win you'll ever see — Gord knows the Oilers tried to make it as tough as possible — but the good news is that they still found a way to get the job done even when the going got tough. A big part of that win was the performance by Connor McDavid, who put up another three-point period as he continues to vault his way up the NHL scoring leaderboard. Another guy who found a way to chip in last night was Sam Gagner. Gagner has already put three goals on the board despite playing in only nine games, which is fantastic production from the bottom six at a time when we desperately need some goals. And since we were talking about needing some goals, there are no two players on the Oilers' roster that need one more than Ryan McLeod, Connor Brown, and Warren Foegele. Those three guys are getting things done in terms of possession metrics and pushing the play, but the finish has yet to follow in any real capacity. Should we be concerned yet? Lastly, I wrapped up the episode with another Righteous Sack Beating and a fresh round of voicemails to get your take on everything that's been happening since last week's episode. It's Friday afternoon, the Oilers racked up another painful loss due to mistakes last night against the Stars, and we're back with a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio to try and make sense of why this is happening. Unfortunately, things aren't going so well right now after yet another loss led Oilers fans to walk off the ledge. To kick off the podcast, we started with a look at last night's game against the Dallas Stars and argued whether that loss resulted from bad luck or poor play. Even though no one wants to hear it, the Oilers didn't play poorly last night, but the problem was that every mistake they made wound up in the back of the net. On the other end of the spectrum, was there anyone who delivered for the Oilers? Can anyone say they played their best outside of Sam Gagner and Evander Kane? Changing gears, we looked at Sam Gagner's return to the Oilers' lineup and how a spectacular performance nearly dragged the team into a tie game. Speaking of roster moves, we also looked at Philip Broberg being loaned to the Bakersfield Condors and whether or not he should stay in the AHL for a bit to regain his confidence. Is that even an option for the Oilers right now? Lastly, we wrapped up the Friday episode of Oilersnation Radio with another round of Ask the Idiots, Kennedy's quote game, and Hot and Cold performers. Hosted on Acast. There's nothing better than wrapping up your week with a fresh episode of the Real Life Podcast to make sense of what's happening in the world.Kicking off the Thursday episode of the podcast, the guys started with a random conversation about Celine Dion after Wanye read some news that he absolutely had to share while the intro was rolling. Needless to say, hearing that the Canadian pop icon isn't doing well was enough to merit a quick conversation. Changing gears, the guys looked at the Oilers' Halloween outfits and how the boys really leaned into the Harry Potter theme. However, not everyone was dressed as a wizard, as players like Leon Draisaitl, Mattias Ekholm, and Connor McDavid went the couples costume route. Changing gears, the guys then looked at the economics of podcasting after Tyler taught the guys that there's a podcast in New York that pays Aaron Boone over $1 million/year to be a guest on their show. Hearing about an active MLB manager being on podcasts had the guys wondering what it would be like if Jay Woodcroft was ever willing to sit in on our nonsense. Would we be too nice? Would we question his lineup choices? Lastly, the guys wrapped up the Thursday episode of Real Life with a random collection of topics ranging from game day bets to a new segment Tyler pitched about news stories worth watching. Tuesday means a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio is wrapped up and ready to get you through the middle portion of your week. This week, we're recapping the Heritage Classic, the Adam Erne/Sam Gagner swap, and much more. Kicking off the podcast, we got started with a look at the breaking news from earlier today that has the Oilers waiving Adam Erne and replacing him with the newly signed Sam Gagner. Given that Erne was barely playing before his demotion, does it make sense to bring up Sam Gagner and do the same thing? How much will Samwise play? With the news out of the way, we looked back at Sunday's Heritage Classic and how the event was a spectacular experience for anyone lucky enough to be there. Whether it was winning a big game over the Flames, the depth scoring from throughout the lineup, or how Oilers fans made Sunday night a huge success, the Heritage Classic was a blast in every possible way. After breaking down what went down at C0mmonwealth Stadium a couple of days ago, we looked at some of the daily news that's come out in the days since to ensure you're up to date. Lastly, we wrapped up the Tuesday episode of ONR with another round of Woz's new segment, 'Can You Clear This Up for Me' to help make sense of everything that's happening these days. Hosted on Acast. It's been a trying time for Oilers fans through these first couple of weeks of the season, and that led to a spicy Monday episode of the Real Life podcast.Kicking off the Monday episode of Real Life, the guys got going with the Sam Gagner contract news that came out earlier this morning. Now that Gagner is getting set to kick off his year with the Condors, we wondered how long it may take for Samwise to make the jump back to the NHL. From there, the guys started doing an ad read for Alberta Blue Cross before quickly getting derailed by the news of an Aqua concert that's happening while the fellas are in Seattle. Since the boys will be going to a football game on that trip to Seattle, Chalmers asked Tyler what the hell is going on with Buffalo as the Bills just dropped a game to one of the league's worst teams. Getting back to the Oilers, the guys discussed the Oilers' implosion from Saturday night and how that loss resulted from avoidable errors that simply cannot happen. And now that the team will be without Connor McDavid for the next week or two, the boys wondered who will step up in the captain's absence and whether or not the team can turn this skid around without their best player. Lastly, the guys wrapped up the Tuesday episode of Real Life with another round of podcast reviews after a few people dropped us a line about the podcast and its meaning to them. Hosted on Acast. There was no Baggedmilk or Tyler on this Friday episode of Oilersnation Radio; instead, it was Dan, Rick, Liam and Kennedy filling you in on everything Oilers.Like every episode, the show starts with the Delicious Debate, brought to you by Wilhauk Beef Jerky. The gang debated on the Oilers biggest deficiency from last season that should change this time around. After that, the biggest news coming out of Oil Country was the addition of Adam Erne on a professional tryout contract. Ken Holland now has three players on PTO after bringing in Brandon Sutter and Sam Gagner a couple of weeks ago, so what does this mean for the opening day lineup? Could one of those three or more crack the team? Shortly after, they moved away from the Oilers talk to discuss the Mike Babcock and Columbus Blue Jackets situation. Finally, to close the show, the gang played Kennedy's game, which had some big upgrades, along with Ask The Idiots and Hot and Cold performances. You can hear all of that and more on today's episode. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

The boys are back in town, which meant there was plenty to talk about on this week's episode of Oilersnation Radio.Kicking off this week's podcast, we got started with a delicious debate about who will grab the final roster spot with the Oilers by the time training camp is all said and done. With Lane Pederson, Sam Gagner, and Raphael Lavoie all fighting for the final roster spot, it will be very interesting to see how that battle shakes out. Looking at the captain's skates that are happening at Rogers Place, we talked about how it's great to see the team getting to town so early and hitting the ice with purpose. While we always see teams showing up for optional skates every summer, this year just feels different because of the way the last season ended. We also covered the Nail Yakupov interview from Dropping the Gloves that happened this past week, and how it offered an interesting look behind the scenes at what was going on while he was hear. Needless to say, Yak didn't have much fun in Edmonton and that was a real bummer given how excited we all were to have him. Lastly, we wrapped up this week's podcast with another edition of Ask the Idiots, Kennedy's Quote Game, and Hot and Cold Performers to cap it all off. There was some actual Oilers news to talk about on this week's episode of Oilersnation Radio.Kicking off the podcast, we got started with a random conversation about woodpeckers attacking Jay's house. Why? It's a fair question given that woodpeckers have nothing to do with the Edmonton Oilers. Getting the podcast back on track, we got into the Oilers talk with a delicious debate about which PTO — Sam Gagner or Brandon Sutter — is most likely to turn their tryout into a contract. Will either of them even make it out of camp? Checking in on some former friends, we looked at the Zack Kassian PTO in Anaheim and Devin Shore landing a one-year with the Seattle Kraken. Seeing former Oilers land in other markets led us to discuss whether or not the bottom portion of our roster will have enough firepower to relieve the pressure on McDavid and Draisaitl to perform. What is a fair season for Nuge? What will Evander Kane do now that he's healthy? How will Connor Brown fare in his first year in Edmonton?
