We left the Kingston area with a very full car for our trip to Vancouver Island to relocate my daughter. Our first night stop was in North Bay. We got takeout from Boston Pizza, which I always enjoy. Then after a good night's sleep our next stop was the Big Nickel in Sudbury – very cool! A friend recommended a gluten free bakery to me that was in Lively, west of Sudbury called Gluten Free Galore, but also goes by the name Amici. I bought white bread, two cupcakes, date squares, and sandwich buns which we put to good use for a picnic along our route. Our dinner was at a restaurant called La Anh (formerly Sunset Noodle House) – Yum. I've loaded some pictures on my blog. It's do-or-die time for the Edmonton Oilers. Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final goes tonight in Florida, and the Stanley Cup will be in the building as the Panthers look to close out the series and win their second consecutive championship on home ice. All that will be discussed and so much more right here on The Oil Stream. The Oil Stream is presented by Boston Pizza!
The Edmonton Oilers are officially on the ropes. Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final was a tough one, as the Oilers were dominated from start to finish by the Florida Panthers, falling 5-2 and now trailing the series 3-2. Florida suffocated them in every zone, and despite a brief push later in the game, the Oilers just couldn't solve the Panthers' defensive structure.Calvin Pickard got the start in goal after his heroics in Game 4, but his unbeaten run came to an end, allowing 4 goals on 18 shots. Now, the biggest question becomes: who starts Game 6 with the season on the line — Pickard or Skinner? We'll break down everything from Game 5 in our scoring summary, deliver our one big take, and ask the giant question ahead of the Oilers' do-or-die moment. The Edmonton Oilers are heading back to the Stanley Cup Final! For the second straight season, they've eliminated the Dallas Stars in the Western Conference Final—this time doing it in just five games. Game 5 was electric from the opening puck drop, with the Oilers exploding for two goals on their first two shots. The blitz forced Dallas head coach Pete DeBoer to burn his timeout and pull Jake Oettinger just minutes into the game. But the damage was already done.Connor McDavid led the way with another dominant performance, the powerplay continued to deliver, and despite a push from Dallas in the third to make it 4-3, it was Evander Kane who silenced the Stars with a massive insurance goal to seal it. Edmonton walks away with a 6-3 win and a trip back to the Stanley Cup Final—this time looking for redemption. We'll break down everything from last night with our scoring summary, One Big Take, Giant Question, and dive into some early storylines ahead of the Cup Final rematch between the Oilers and Panthers. We're also thrilled to welcome Jeff Marek, host of The Sheet, to help us break down the entire Western Conference Final series and preview what's shaping up to be an electric rematch in the Stanley Cup Final. Jeff will give us his thoughts on how the Oilers managed to take down the Stars in just five games, what's impressed him most about Edmonton's evolution this postseason, and what the Oilers will need to do differently against a relentless Florida Panthers squad looking for back-to-back championships.Plus, we're joined by former NHL defenseman Jason Demers to get his thoughts on Game 5, the Oilers' playoff run so far, and what they'll need to do to flip the script against Florida in the Final.Website: https://oilersnation.com/ https://twitter.com/OilersNation/ https://www.youtube.com/@Oilersnationdotcom/ https://www.facebook.com/OilersNation/https://www.instagram.com/oilersnationdotcomhttps://www.tiktok.com/@oilersnation SHOUTOUT TO OUR SPONSORS!!
