After little Charlie Stevens was taken to his doctor after he developed a lesion in his right eye, it became apparent that he had too many white blood cells, but an X Ray and ultrasound showed him to be healthy in the early days of 2020. Just six weeks later Charlie was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. A very aggressive treatment protocol led to his remission that year but just before Christmas Charlie relapsed and he passed away on January 27th, of 2021, just 2 days after his 3rd birthday. Charlie's mother Kelly will talk about her beloved son, and how she has become an activist in her native home of Adelaide Australia to help other AML and Pediatric Cancer patients and their families.
On the last episode, Dr. Kelly Stevens introduced an intriguing concept that our kids are missing out when we avoid using the Gift of Failure in their lives. Today we plow further into this often-overlooked aspect of parenting and discuss the benefits and then get specific in how it might be applied in real life. Be sure to listen in!
Dr. Kelly Stevens joins us again in the recording studio. This time with the unusual idea of equipping our children with the gift of failure. He talks about a style of parenting where preparing our children for life rather than trying to curate the road in front of them. You're not going to want to miss this interesting but challenging conversation.
Once again Dr. Kelly Stevens comes before the TPP mic. This time he challenges and then equips us with the idea of premeditatio malorum - keeping low expectations for ourselves, our kids, and our parenting. And as usual, it isn't all theory but we get down to some very practical, useful applications for our everyday lives.
We met with Kelly Stevens who is the founder of The Private Practice Pro where she motivates therapists to create lives that work for them. She unapologetically claims space and inspires the woman dominated field to do the same. Join us as we explore all helping professions and the demands on woman that don't serve the individual but the systems they're holding up. @theprivatepracticepro, www.theprivatepracticepro.com

This June is National Candy Month, meaning you can eat all of these and more. Started by the National Confectioner's Association (according to them, they're “a trade association that advances, protects and promotes chocolate, candy, gum and mints”), the holiday celebrates the value candy adds to our lives. Candy has been produced for over 100 years, which means you have a lot of catching up to do if you want to eat it all. Target is extending its $2-an-hour coronavirus wage increase for its store and distribution workers through July 4. According to the Star Tribune, which was first to report the news, CEO Brian Cornell informed workers about the extension in an email on Monday morning. Target first announced it would be raising wages in March. "At the outset of the pandemic, we knew there was a long road ahead, that we would have to pace ourselves. These pay and benefits extensions are intended to help you and your family do just that as we all continue to support each other and move forward," Cornell said, according to the Star Tribune. As malls and retailers begin to reopen this month, many shoppers are getting a shock. Your mall may not look the same. Here are some of the stores that may still be closed, so you don't waste your money. The balloons are out, and the doors are open at retailers everywhere. Store owners like Kelly Stevens are hoping the shoppers come back. "It's a very tough environment to be in, very scary, but I'm trying to stay positive." But it's already too late for thousands of stores that were struggling long before the pandemic hit, such as Victoria's Secret, which is closing 250 locations. That's a quarter of its stores. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/georgiastalk/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/georgiastalk/support

On this episode of the Craft Industry Alliance podcast, we're talking about running an online and brick-and-mortar fabric shop with my guest, Kelly Stevens of Superbuzzy. After finishing graduate school and some years working in higher education administration, Kelly rediscovered an early love of textiles and design in the late 1990s. Upon discovering Japanese craft books and modern Japanese fabrics, an obsession was born that later turned into the concept for Superbuzzy. The shop opened online in 2006, and then moved to a flagship storefront located in Ventura, California in 2011. +++++ Today’s episode is sponsored by WEFTY.
