What happens when you achieve everything society calls "success" but still feel empty inside? Dr. Sharon Spano walks us through this profound paradox that affects countless high-achieving leaders.Drawing from her extensive experience as a consultant with a PhD in human organizational systems, Dr. Spano reveals the hidden patterns that create what she calls "the emptiness of success." We explore how accomplished professionals with million-dollar homes and impressive careers often reach out for help when they realize material success hasn't delivered the fulfillment they expected.Dr. Spano shares powerful insights about the "hidden loyalties" we carry from our family histories that unconsciously shape our relationship with success. Through moving client stories, she demonstrates how seemingly innocent parental advice like "you have to work very hard in America or you'll be left behind" can create lifelong patterns of never feeling enough despite extraordinary achievements. The conversation takes a deeply personal turn when Dr. Spano opens up about raising and eventually losing her disabled son, and how this profound experience shaped her capacity for empathy and understanding in her work with leaders. This heartfelt discussion illuminates how our greatest challenges often become the foundation for our most meaningful contributions. For leaders feeling trapped in the hustle culture, Dr. Spano offers practical wisdom for moving toward harmony: recognize work will never be completely done, identify your top priorities each day, and practice being fully present wherever you are. Her approach integrates professional growth with character development, creating what she calls "the other side of potential."Take the first step toward breaking free from empty success by visiting SharonSpano.com/uncommon-leader to access her Leader's Edge assessment and discover where you stand in the stages of human development. Thanks for listening in to the Uncommon Leader Podcast. We're so excited to share Michelle Spano's story with you today! Michelle and her family have been part of the Desert Springs community for many years. She and her husband, Nick, first met in the church's young adults group back when it was still meeting in Glendale, a sweet beginning to a lifelong journey together. In the first part of this conversation, Michelle warmly reflects on how they met, fell in love, got married, and started a family. For Michelle, marriage brought a deep sense of stability which was something she hadn't experienced much of growing up. Her childhood was marked by chaos and pain, and although she came to know Jesus at a young age, she was still learning and growing in her understanding of who she was in Christ. As she stepped into motherhood, however, new layers of emotion and struggle surfaced. The fierce love she felt for her newborn son, coupled with relational challenges and the overwhelming transition into parenthood, unearthed wounds from the past she thought were buried. It became clear that healing was not optional—it was necessary. Michelle sought professional counseling, which became a turning point not only for her own well-being but also for the health of her marriage. Through intentional community and deepening time in God's Word, she experienced profound healing. Her passion for Scripture grew, and she eventually developed a method to teach her children how to study the Bible. This method eventually blossomed into a love for writing Bible studies. Now, Michelle is preparing to become a published author, using her gifts to help others grow in their faith. Looking back, she sees God's faithful hand in every step of her journey, especially in the healing that unlocked her calling. Michelle's final words of encouragement to others are simple but powerful: Don't put off healing and get into the Word.Connect with Michelle on Instagram @michellespanowritesCheck out Michelle's website__________________________________________________Nick Spano's testimony (Michelle's husband!), Episode 11

They explore the importance of personal mission, the myth of work-life balance, and the concept of radical abundance. The discussion highlights how personal history and mindset influence financial perspectives, emphasizing the shift from scarcity to abundance.   3 Key Takeaways: Time and Money Traps for High Achievers: Dr. Spano highlights how many successful professionals unknowingly fall into patterns of overworking and underperforming in their personal lives - which can lead to burnout and dissatisfaction, even for those who seem to have everything together. The Power of Self-Leadership: True effectiveness, both at work and at home, stems from strong self-leadership rather than external titles or authority. Vision vs. Hustle: Dr. Spano explores how vision and mission, rather than sheer effort and hustle, are what truly create wealth and success.  In a world obsessed with hustle and achievement, Dr. Spano's insights offer a refreshing reminder that true wealth comes not from external validation but from aligning our purpose, vision, and self-leadership.  We appreciate your support! What if we could combat that fear in order to help everyone reach the other side of their potential? Today on The Other Side of Potential, Dr. Spano is joined by the founder and CEO of Continuum Consulting Services, Wendy White, to discuss her efforts to help solve massive world problems by reframing the idea of change for large business leaders and spreading love globally. Inspired by the events of 9/11, Wendy has dedicated her life to helping uplift her community and create a sense of collaboration to foster social change. In our conversation, Wendy unpacks some global issues such as climate change, encourages business owners and thought leaders to reframe the way they work and how they measure success, and tells us how her incredible initiative, Crossroads Collaboratory is leveraging the idea of collaboration with fellow thought leaders to drive change in the world. She also tells us about her incredible organization, Let's Choose Love, what inspired its creation, and how she is helping her community through incredible grants and coaching sessions. Tune in now to hear all about Wendy's mission to create a world where love rules! What you'll learn about in this episode:How Wendy's passion for the greater challenges she is combating through her work was formed within her. Why businesses have to transform the way they work and measure their success in today's climate. How to reframe the idea of change for the business leaders who are resisting the social changes the world is inevitably leaning towards. The realities of climate change and the opinions of thought leaders Wendy is surrounded by on the issue. The importance of focusing on those who are aware of the danger of climate change, not just those denying its existence. Wendy tells us about her initiative, Crossroads Collaboratory: Our Earthshot Moment, what it's about, and what inspired it. How to get involved in Crossroads Collaboratory and why it's so important that people do involve themselves. Wendy tells us about her vision for her other initiative, Let's Choose Love, and how it integrates with Crossroads Collaborative. A little bit about the incredible grants and coaching sessions that she and her company have given out through Let's Choose Love. Our guest leaves us with some final thoughts and invites us to join her in her mission to create a world where love rules. Transcript: HereAdditional Resources:Website: https://www.continuumcs.com/Email Address: wendy@continuumcs.com LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/wendywhite-ccs/ Sharon Spano:Website: sharonspano.comFacebook: facebook.com/SharonSpanoPHDInstagram: instagram.com/drsharonspano/LinkedIn: linkedin.com/in/sharonspano/Book: thetimemoneybook.comContact: sharon@sharonspano.comX: x.com/SharonSpanoThe Other Side of Potential Podcast: sharonspano.com/podcast/

Trauma can be life-changing, devastating, and difficult to heal from if not addressed quickly. But trauma can also reveal hidden traits within us that may lead to positive and mind-blowing transformations, especially for those with an entrepreneurial mindset. Mark Monchek is our resident cohost and, as the Founder and Chief Opportunity Officer of Opportunity Lab, he is the perfect entrepreneur to walk us through today's topic, and he begins by defining ‘trauma' as we have come to understand it here on The Other Side of Potential. We discuss how trauma can be a catalyst for unlocking hidden potential, why successful entrepreneurs are often unhappy in life, and what Dr. Spano's guided meditation taught her about the importance of reestablishing our divinity. We also learn about the need to reexamine how spirituality plays out in the secular world. Be sure to tune in for the next steps you should follow if you are ready to embrace your superpowers.   What you'll learn about in this episode:Mark Monchek reiterates our definition of trauma. How trauma can be the catalyst for hidden superpowers to be revealed. Why many thriving entrepreneurs don't experience the joys of their success. Using Dr. Spano's experience with her late son, Michael, as a case study for how trauma can transcend into superpowers. How revealing your superpowers starts with a guided meditation. What Dr. Sharon learned from her short meditation about her spirituality.  Why we need to redefine “abundant impact”/”social entrepreneurship” and reassess how spirituality shows up in the secular world. A call to action for listeners who are ready to unleash their superpowers. Transcript: HereMark Monchek:LinkedIn: linkedin.com/in/markmonchek/ X: twitter.com/MarkMonchek Facebook: facebook.com/mark.monchek/ Book: amazon.com/Culture-Opportunity-Grow-Business-Disruption/dp/0692811257  Agency: opplab.com/ Email: discover@opplab.com Links Mentioned:David and Goliath: amazon.com/David-and-Goliath-audiobook/dp/B00EKQKMG2 1:1 Constellations with Sharon: sharonspanoworkshops.com/black-friday-constellation The Michael Spano Foundation: michaelspanofoundation.org/ Sharon Spano:Website: sharonspano.comFacebook: facebook.com/SharonSpanoPHDInstagram: instagram.com/drsharonspano/LinkedIn: linkedin.com/in/sharonspano/Book: thetimemoneybook.comContact: sharon@sharonspano.comX: twitter.com/SharonSpanoThe Other Side of Potential Podcast: sharonspano.com/podcast/
