Okay, who brought the acid? What is up with this earthquake button? How does hot hail even work? What is the story behind this lab/greenhouse? George finds a home for an “Ambiguously Gay Duo” reference. We get some bad pedal placement in this phone booth wait, rocket. This film is quite sexually charged considering it has a PG rating. A guilty pleasure movie for some, sad Star Wars knock-off attempt for others, Flash Gordon is an all-time favorite of mine, and for the 40th anniversary, I got to chat about it with Don and Marvin. We talk the movie, the serials, the comics, the toys, the music, and more! Tweet me @JoeBombed

WHERE'S THE FANDOM?: "See you at Madmarti-Con." (1988) Its the first day of summer, so let's bask in the blockbusters of 1988. POOP CULTURE: "So now we're not talking about Flash Gordon?"" Brad and Jarf are the co-hosts of the Cosmic Geppetto Podcast, a program Tim came to via Brad's other show, The Flash Gordon Minute. So when they agreed to guest on this episode, Tim thought it would make sense to converse about Queen albums from the 1980s. But their attempt to talk "A Kind Of Magic" magically side-lined into a discussion on the toxicity and positivity of pop culture fandom. So that's what you'll hear, and its totally worth it.00:00:00 PRESHOW PRATTLE - start the mics00:00:28 NO BOB BUT STILL TIM WITH . . . Ming tells Klytus he's bored and flexes his fingers as they consider the planet...Earth.
The last Patreon exclusive was recorded shortly after one of the show's biggest decisions was made: To call the show '80s All Over as opposed to the original title... "Klytus, I'm Bored." An amazingly delivered line, but maybe not the most appealing or informative name for the podcast. But the proper tribute was shortly paid, as Drew and Scott convened for this commentary focused fully one of their most favorite films of the entire decade.
You voted, so here it is. The Farcical pt.2. By your demand we are covering the “sequel” Flash Gordon 2: Klytus’ Revenge. Flash...ah aaahhh...savior of the universe! Mike (Get Carter, Omen II) Hodges brought Flash Gordon from the Alex Raymond comic strips to the big screen in 1980 in big budget, campy fun. Starring Sam J. Jones as Flash Gordon, Melody Anderson as Dale Arden, Max Von Sydow as Emperor Ming, Topol as Dr. Hans Zarkov, Ornella Muti as Princess Aura, Timothy Dalton as Prince Barin, Brian Blessed as Prince Voltan, and Peter Wyngarde as Klytus. Join the Invaders as they re-imagine Alex Raymond's classic character and propose a remake they would love to see including fantasy casting and not including terrible lizard men costumes. Join me as I join the entire Film Bin crew to have a look at the wonderfully campy and adventurous Flash Gordon. It's the heartwarming tale of boy meets girl, boy and girl are kidnapped by a scientist and forced to travel to space, where they are kidnapped by a dictator, girl loses boy, boy is kidnapped by another girl, then imprisoned by her boyfriend... Long story short, boy gets girl and only has 14 hours to save the earth. We compare it to Star Wars, Superman, Indiana Jones movies, Highlander, the original film serial, Barbarella, Doctor Who, The Wizard of Oz, and Buckaroo Banzai. We analyze the physics of Mongo, the force of nature that is Brian Blessed, and the possibility that Klytus designs all the costumes on Mongo. We fix Hollywood action movies and align the DC universe and Star Wars universe with this one.
