Making Jesus Famous One Song at a Time with Angie Killian This week, Melissa sits down with award-winning songwriter and composer Angie Killian, whose music has touched millions of hearts around the world. Angie's songs — like her viral hit "My Own Sacred Grove" — have been streamed over 30 million times and translated into dozens of languages, inspiring faith, joy, and connection in homes everywhere. But Angie's story didn't start with fame or recognition. It began in the quiet moments of motherhood — rocking a newborn in the middle of the night, wrestling with exhaustion and postpartum depression, and hearing a simple melody that became her lifeline. That small spark of light led Angie to write songs for her children about Jesus, love, and hope — songs that would eventually bless families all over the world. Melissa and Angie dive deep into the power of music — especially for children. Angie shares how melodies and lyrics can plant truth deep in a child's heart and why music is one of the most powerful tools parents can use to teach faith. She offers practical ideas for families who want to bring more music into their homes — from listening in the car to singing together at bedtime or joining a local children's choir. They also explore what it looks like to balance motherhood and creative callings. Angie opens up about the guilt she once felt spending time on her music instead of chores or endless to-do lists — and how she came to realize that pursuing her God-given gifts made her a more joyful, grounded mom. From writing songs during nap times to her new preschool project Tiny Disciple Songs, Angie's story is a powerful reminder that light often breaks through in unexpected places — and that creativity, faith, and motherhood can coexist beautifully. Making Jesus Famous Question: Where did the need for missions begin? Genesis 3:1-7 (NIV)“Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, ‘Did God really say, “You must not eat from any tree in the garden”?' The woman said to the serpent, ‘We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, but God did say, “You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.”' ‘You will not certainly die,' the serpent said to the woman. ‘For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.' When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it. Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.” Answer: It began at the fall of mankind. Romans 5:12 (NIV)“Sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned.” Question: What is God's heart for missions? Genesis 3:8-9 (NIV) “Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as He was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the Lord God among the trees of the garden. But the Lord God called to the man, ‘Where are you?'” Answer: To restore those lost safely back into His family. Luke 19:10 (ESV) “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.” Question: Who is supposed to help restore those lost safely back into His family? Matthew 28:18-20 (NIV)“Then Jesus came to them and said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.'” John 20:21 (NIV)“Again Jesus said, ‘Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.'” Acts 1:8 (NIV)“You will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Acts 16:9-10 (NIV)“During the night Paul had a vision of a man of Macedonia standing and begging him, ‘Come over to Macedonia and help us.' After Paul had seen the vision, we got ready at once to leave for Macedonia, concluding that God had called us to preach the gospel to them.” 2 Corinthians 8:1-7 (NIV)“Now, brothers and sisters, we want you to know about the grace that God has given the Macedonian churches. In the midst of a very severe trial, their overflowing joy and their extreme poverty welled up in rich generosity. For I testify that they gave as much as they were able, and even beyond their ability. Entirely on their own, they urgently pleaded with us for the privilege of sharing in this service to the Lord's people. And they exceeded our expectations: They gave themselves first of all to the Lord, and then by the will of God also to us. So we urged Titus, just as he had earlier made a beginning, to bring also to completion this act of grace on your part. But since you excel in everything—in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in the love we have kindled in you—see that you also excel in this grace of giving.” Answer: Those who are a part of God's family are the ones who are to help restore those lost back into His family.

Jesus is famous or he is infamous. He cannot be innocuous. Everything about him from his birth, his lifestyle, his teachings, his Divinity, his cross, his resurrection, his Church, are gamechangers, turning points, new births or stumbling blocks, offenses, demon manifestations. They are never ho-hum, whatever, yawn. As friends of Jesus, we are his ‘exposed, hilltop cities' an image which speaks of visibility, not anonymity, of consequence not insignificance, of purpose not confusion. We are his Kingdom ambassadors with a mandate of reconciliation to the whole world, ‘to the remotest places on earth!' (Acts 1:8b, TPT). We are commissioned as foot soldiers for the Prince of Peace, not the God of War. We are called up as good neighbors, good Samaritans, compassionately and consistently caring for the poor and needy. We are equipped with, and motivated by, Love declared, forgiveness received, mercies bestowed, righteousness granted. In simply being alive we are, everywhere and always, the inviting aroma of Christ to those believing or the sinister aroma of death to those rejecting. Jesus never intended for us to be innocuous while making him famous.

Series: Growing deeper Reaching wider
Dig In Questions:1) On Sunday, we discussed how Jesus' first followers were a very imperfect bunch. What does that reflect about the nature of Christ and who he asks to further his message? What does that mean for you?2) Read Matthew 28:18-20. We call this “The Great Commission.” How well do you feel you have done in helping to fulfill this commission? Why do you feel the way that you do?3) What do you need to change in order to make The Great Commission a greater priority in your life?4) Read Romans 10:13-14. Who is someone you’ve always wanted to talk to about Christ, but never had the courage to?5) On Sunday, we discussed the role of prophets - specifically Ezekiel and how he was used by God as a public witness, a visual aid, for a Faithful God. How does technology; screens; or specifically, social media allow us to play that same role today?6) As we conclude this series, what is one of the ways that it has impacted you?

Joe Coffey | In this message Pastor Joe shares that a good place to start Making Jesus Famous is in our homes. As we invite Jesus into our homes, he sees us for who we really are and transforms our hearts. We can celebrate and remember all that God has done in ourselves, recalling his faithfulness to our family members. It would only be natural to then make our homes a place of refuge for those who don't know Jesus, inviting people into our lives to "come and see" all He has done.
