Today, we sit down with Matthew Barnett, founder of the Dream Center in Los Angeles, to discuss his journey from a reluctant young pastor to a transformative force in one of America's toughest urban landscapes. We explore how the Dream Center provides hope and healing to over 700 residents daily, tackling issues like homelessness, addiction, and human trafficking through Christian programs. Matthew shares insights on the spiritual and practical challenges of serving the vulnerable, the impact of Gavin Newsom's bad policies, and the power of forgiveness in personal transformation. He also reflects on navigating spiritual warfare, drawing inspiration from Nehemiah, and his vision for Los Angeles. Greg and Dan discuss the Dream Center of Peoria with Andy King, but also with the NEW teenage band that is helping raise money for our local facility. The band is named "patchwork", but will be more uniquely known as, "PTCHWRK" as they wanted to express their creative side and be different. The Dream Center's purpose is to bring students to accomplish their goals and showcase their amazing talents. The idea is to start well and finish well with becoming a writer/musician/performer. The band members are: Jake, Annabelle, Samantha, Christian, and Allister. Their idea for their name came to play when realizing that all of them are "spread out" from each other and don't live nearby, making it "patchwork" that they perform together now and enjoying being a band together. Their main genres are classical rock and sometimes emo rock. They enjoy the Dream Center as it is a place for musicians to become themselves, much the case how these young people found their way. Kids helping kids! You can hear this upcoming band perform on Sunday June 29th, from 2-7 at OZ'Z Bar and Grill in Creve Coeur, IL, about 10 minutes from Peoria! Access to communication is the first step—what comes after? In this episode of Non Linear Learning, Dr. Vaish Sarathy and Searmi Park sit down with award-winning researcher and advocate Dr. Edlyn Peña to talk about inclusion, spelled communication, and what happens when we stop settling for access and start building actual community. Dr. Peña shares her journey raising her non-speaking son Diego—from fighting for AAC in preschool to full inclusion in high school using a letterboard. She also opens up about her newest venture: the DREAM Community Center, a post-high school model for neurodivergent teens and adults that centers autonomy, learning, and joy. We talk about: Why spelled communication is a civil rights issue The real risks (and rewards) of pushing for inclusion in traditional systems How to navigate accusations of influence—and why “proof” standards for non-speakers are inherently unjust Why college doesn't have to follow a neurotypical timeline The power of “crip time,” self-defined success, and post-secondary options beyond degrees This episode is a grounded and generous look at what advocacy looks like in real life—and what happens when parents, educators, and communities believe that communication is non-negotiable. We can't hold it in any longer! We're FINALLY talking golden showers, water sports, piss kinks-- whatever you want to call it-- with Portland based, and liquid based comedian Mack Lee. Mack tells us about their piss kink; how they discovered they have one, where they think it came from, and where they like to pee/ be peed on (body-wise AND location-wise!) We discuss celebrities who have piss kinks, drinking pee, spitting or swallowing, and the etiquette & proper prep that you should do if piss play is on the menu. Finally Remy and Mack talk about fantasy literature and smut as well as the dangers that AI character chat bots pose for impressionable children and teens. Like always Mack's experience is their own so if you have a different take on piss kinks or different type of piss kink please write in and let us know!
