# Miracles Week 4: Exploring the Spiritual Realm In this week's sermon, we delve into the mysterious and often misunderstood realm of miracles and spirituality as depicted in the Bible. The discussion is centered around **1 Samuel 28:3-25**, which recounts the story of Saul and the Witch of Endor. This passage provides a vivid illustration of the spiritual battles and the reality of the unseen world. ## Key Themes ### The Yearning for the Spiritual - Throughout human history, there has been a persistent yearning for the spiritual dimension, a longing for something beyond the material world. This desire is rooted in the belief that God has placed eternity in our hearts, as mentioned in **Ecclesiastes 3:11**.- This spiritual yearning is universal, transcending religious boundaries, and is evident even in secular societies where materialism often dominates. ### Different Approaches to Spirituality - People can be categorized into four groups based on their approach to spirituality: 1. **Monotheists**: Those who seek spiritual direction within the framework of classical monotheism, including Jews, Muslims, and Christians. 2. **Atheists**: Individuals who reject the spiritual realm altogether, viewing it as a product of imagination. 3. **New Age Spiritualists**: Those who embrace spirituality but reject monotheism, often engaging in practices like mysticism and the occult. 4. **Syncretists**: People who blend traditional monotheism with New Age beliefs, despite their inherent contradictions. ### The Reality of the Spiritual Realm - The sermon emphasizes the reality of both divine and demonic forces. **Ephesians 6:12** reminds us that our struggle is not against flesh and blood but against spiritual forces of evil.- The story of Saul seeking the Witch of Endor highlights the dangers of turning to forbidden spiritual practices. Saul's desperation led him to consult a medium, defying God's commands as outlined in **Leviticus 19:31**. ### Lessons from Saul's Experience - Saul's story serves as a warning against disobedience and the consequences of seeking guidance outside of God's will. His failure to listen to God resulted in God withdrawing His guidance, as noted in **Proverbs 1:28-33**.- The Bible teaches that when we stop listening to God, He stops speaking to us. Saul's tragic end underscores the importance of faithfulness and obedience to God's revealed word. ### The Victory in Christ - Despite the reality of spiritual warfare, believers are assured of victory through Jesus Christ. **1 Peter 5:8** urges us to be alert and of sober mind, recognizing the enemy's schemes.- The ultimate victory was secured through Jesus' death and resurrection, offering believers abundant life and the promise of eternal peace. ## Conclusion This sermon challenges us to acknowledge the reality of the spiritual realm and to remain vigilant in our faith. By aligning ourselves with God's word and being alert to the enemy's tactics, we can walk in the victory that Jesus has already won for us. Let us be encouraged to seek God earnestly, trusting in His guidance and protection as we navigate the spiritual battles of life. --- For those seeking more information or needing prayer, the church offers support and guidance to help navigate these spiritual truths. Join us in worship and fellowship as we continue to explore the wonders of God's word.

Welcome to a week of promise as Mercury in Taurus brings stable simple goals that may seem boring, but are life saving. Sun enters into Gemini on 5/21 on Wednesday followed by Venus, making for quick obliging vibes chasing down the desires that can be mutable and elusive. Sagittarius Full Moon on 5/23 shines on topics of - education, self-start, exploration, teaching, etc. - higher mind contemplations in order to remain computer savvy as the AI revolution begins. The cosmic energy supports exploring different topics that are personal, yet relate to humanity as a group of beings that are quite similar to one another, As Pluto meets with the Sagittarius Full Moon and Gemini Sun along the information axis, collectively we are receiving energy from the aurora borealis that have been reaching as far south than ever before in conjunction with the solar flares that are very active compared to previous times. With the Sun's movement into Gemini, there can be a sense of movement as the mutual scene shifts drastically from the fixed stubbornness that Taureans are so famous and counted on for. The professional communicator Gemini will be fair in seeing both sides of any situations, but can be quickly just as disinterested. Being mindful and meditating here can help to ward off anxiety through listening to your breath and being one with the your heart. This week begins the movement needed to acquire those goals that were dreamt and planned about the last two months while Mercury has traveled through Aries, retrograding for half of the time throwing all planning aside. Now the road stretches ahead, rewards from hard work will bring many blessings and wishes true. On Saturday 5/18 is the annual Day of Wishes when The Sun meets up/conjuncts Jupiter. These two fluctuating friends bring in abundance of material, physical, and spiritual wealth. Keep believing and stay optimistic as movement begins pushing stuck energy over the past two months towards our goals. Next week will begin another movement as the full moon wanes and releasing past values that we no longer need will lighten the load as we head into the hot summer months. See everyone next week as Gemini season takes off quickly, especially with fluctuating values causing volatility and instability. Thank you for being here this week. Please subscribe and like. Whenever Jesus gives us an instruction and leads us in a direction, don't we expect things to go smoothly? Of course we do! Jesus said He would never leave us, nor forsake us. However, we must not confuse safety and protection with comfort. A foundational misunderstanding that many followers of Jesus have is that Jesus will never lead us into a storm. This simply is not true. He will not allow the storm to overtake us, but He will most certainly lead us into them. Storms often build our faith and courage in Him, while also helping us move from places we've settled in comfort.
Many miracles are missed because we're expecting them to happen differently than God intends. If God said He was going to bring water, we'd expect it to come from rain. Yet, in II Kings 3, we see Him send it in a different way. He told the Israelites to dig ditches and water would come. We also limit what God can do my setting our expectations too low. Once God sent the water, it filled the ditches that they dug in preparation to the depth in which they dug them. May our expectation be great, and our preparation be greater so that God can do abundantly, above, and beyond anything we ask or think.
In this episode Kerry and Andrew Skinner explore the miracles of Christ. They talk about the kinds of miracles he performed, where and why, and what we can learn from them and what it has to do with our lives. They examine the different words used for miracles, and what this can tell us about them.We are grateful for our sponsor, Lisa Spice, and for Alexia Muhlestein, who edited this episode, and for Rich Nicholls, who composed and plays the music for the podcast.
In this shortcast Kerry talks about how to pronounce "Capernaum", its size, what it was like there, the place it played in Jesus's ministry, and its political position. He then goes through Matthew 9 and helps us picture one of the most amazing days ever recorded. He speaks of that perhaps being a typical day when the Savior was in Capernaum. We are grateful for our sponsor, Lisa Spice, and for Alexia Muhlestein, who edited the episode, and for Rich Nicholls, who composed and plays the music for the podcast.
