In this episode of Satisfied, Ryan Swanson continues the Twisted Passions series by turning from explanation to application. For those who have experienced same-sex attraction, the question is not only “How did I get here?” but “What do I do now?” Using Ecclesiastes 4 and the picture of the threefold cord, Ryan explains the biblical importance of mutual discipleship, accountability, and outflow. He challenges listeners not to fight alone, but to share what God has used in their lives to help others pursue purity and satisfaction in Christ. Listeners who have experienced same-sex attraction are invited to anonymously share a verse, biblical truth, testimony, or practical step that has helped them at https://theegeneration.org/ssa. Topics Discussed The loneliness often felt by those struggling with same-sex attraction Why Ecclesiastes 4 speaks directly to the danger of isolation The difference between one-way mentorship and mutual discipleship How the “threefold cord” illustrates shared strength and shared responsibility The importance of personal integrity in the battle for purity Why outflow is a necessary part of Christian growth A powerful testimony from a Christian school chapel where young men began helping one another pursue purity The invitation for listeners to anonymously share what God has used to help them How testimony, Scripture, and practical wisdom can strengthen others in their own fight Key Takeaways You are not meant to face temptation alone. Mutual discipleship is not one strong person pulling up the weak, but believers strengthening one another as they walk with God. God can use the very truths He has taught you in your struggle to help someone else find hope and victory. Outflow helps turn the focus away from self and toward serving others. Even an anonymous testimony can be a meaningful first step in helping someone else become less gratified and more satisfied with Jesus Christ. The Vine continues in our series STORIES FROM THE MARGIN with a beautiful passage in Acts 8. In this story, we discover how the Spirit of God moves to the margin so that an Ethiopian Eunuch can experience God's sacred nearness in spite of prescribed religious exclusion. Acts 8:26-39 REFLECTION QUESTIONS: 1. What about the sermon was encouraging, confusing, or challenging? 2. Read the story (Acts 8:26-39) in its entirety. What do you notice? 3. Was this man marginalized? If so, in what ways? 4. What do you see the Holy Spirit doing in this story? 5. In what ways does Philip give us a helpful example of how to share the Gospel? 6. The Book of Acts tells the story of how the movement of Jesus' Kingdom was breaking out of norms, expectations, and religious boundaries. How do you see that in this story? 7. What did you take from the testimony shared on Sunday? 8. What is one way you can follow the example of Philip? What is one way you can follow the example of the eunuch? Spend time in prayer - for those who feel shut out of God's church, presence, or community. Ask for the Spirit to send us to walk with, read with, and share the Good News of Jesus.

Join David Lee Corbo (The Raven) and Top Lobster on Nephilim Death Squad as they welcome best-selling author Brian Godawa for an epic deep dive into his new Daniel Trilogy (Chronicles of the Watchers series). Godawa reveals how he retells the biblical story of Daniel in Babylon with the supernatural lens of the Watchers, fallen angels masquerading as gods like Marduk, Ishtar, Baal, Asherah, and Nergal. Discover why Daniel studied the language and literature of the Chaldeans (divination, astrology, astronomy) without compromising, how the Magi followed the Bethlehem Star 500+ years later, and the explosive spiritual warfare behind earthly kingdoms—including the Prince of Persia vs. Prince of Greece. Godawa breaks down his research on Daniel NOT being a eunuch, the love story with his Jewish maidservant, his friends Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego (one portrayed as autistic), and how the book fills in the biblical gaps with historical and mythological accuracy. Plus: Parallels between ancient Jezebel (child sacrifice, feminism archetype) and modern culture, the alien deception, Bohemian Grove event details, and why understanding the Watcher paradigm changes everything about spiritual warfare today. Godawa also discusses his full series—Chronicles of the Nephilim, Chronicles of the Apocalypse, Judah Maccabee, and Jesus Triumphant—plus the research appendices that prove it's all biblically grounded. In this episode of Satisfied, Ryan Swanson steps back from the recent discussion on the eunuch principle to address the deeper question of why same-sex attraction can feel so real even when it does not reflect God's design. He encourages listeners who believe God may be calling them to unmarried service to walk carefully, avoid making the calling about self-affirmation, and focus instead on undistracted service to Christ. Ryan also exposes several ways the devil can twist curiosity, idle imagination, same-gender friendship, and emotional closeness into confusion about identity and desire. Topics Discussed How to respond if you believe God may be calling you to unmarried service Why it may not be wise to publicly announce or over-explain the eunuch principle too quickly The importance of serving Christ without needing everyone else to fully understand your calling How curiosity can become confused with attraction The danger of an idle mind in a culture saturated with sexuality Why young people need parental guidance, mentorship, and spiritual counsel The difference between same-gender closeness and same-sex attraction How deep emotional bonds can be misinterpreted as sexual desire The biblical example of David and Jonathan's deep, non-sexual friendship Why feelings must be tested by God's Word rather than accepted as identity Key Takeaways Feelings can seem powerful and real, but they are not always truthful. The Word of God, not personal desire or cultural pressure, must define a believer's identity and calling. A life of unmarried service is not about drawing attention to oneself. It is about being free to serve Christ with undistracted devotion. Curiosity, emotional closeness, and deep friendship are not the same thing as sexual attraction. The enemy can twist good and natural desires into confusion when they are not understood biblically. Young people should not be left to navigate sexuality and identity alone. Parents, pastors, and godly mentors have a responsibility to guide them with clarity, compassion, and truth. Victory begins by recognizing the lies of the devil and seeking the Lord for the identity He has chosen. True satisfaction is found not in being affirmed by others, but in being satisfied with Jesus Christ. Victory over deceptive thoughts starts early, before consideration turns into acceptance. This story includes three main actors: God, Philip, and the Ethiopian official. Phillip is in the middle of a incredible revival when God sends him to a desert road. The Ethiopian official is traveling home after worshipping God in Jerusalem, but his experience was limited because he would have been barred from entering the Temple precincts. Why was he barred? Because he was not physically sound, that is, he was a eunuch. But God sends Philip as a plot twist to meet the Eunuch, who had been excluded from the Temple, with the good news about Jesus, the One who welcomes all who believe. A good plot twist makes for a great movie! A good plot twist puts us on the edge of our seats as we see characters' lives move into a different direction and a new reality. When God steps into our lives, we can experience our own plot change. God can take away our guilt. God can bring healing when we least expect it. What on the surface seems like just another conversion story in the book of Acts is in fact an epiphany of the wideness of the gospel for the world. It was not only a sign that the gospel was spreading to "the ends of the earth," as far as Ethiopia, it also meant that the Gentiles were being incorporated through Christ. This passage has much to teach us about what it means to more radically welcome people and how we might welcome them into the gospel. May 3, 2026 - Acts 8 - Philip and the Eunuch - Teacher Stephen Milburn by Platt Park Church
This was the question Philip asked the Ethiopian Eunuch; he was one of the seven appointed to assist the 12 disciples (Acts 6 v.2,4); Stephen who was killed was also one of them.“An angel of the Lord” (8 v.26) caused Philip to go up and meet with this Ethiopian as he was returning from worshipping in Jerusalem.(v.28} which shows he was a genuine God fearing man – and as he travelled, he was reading God's word and puzzling over a person he was reading about in the book of Isaiah who was “like a lamb before its shearer is silent … in his humiliation justice was denied him. Who can describe his generation? For his life is taken away from the earth.” [v.32,33]He asks Philip, “Does the prophet say this about himself or about someone else?” [v.34] Philip explains, “beginning with this Scripture he told him the good news about Jesus.” The whole world has now been given the whole of the word of God – all 66 books of it, in just about every language. Remember what Jesus said; “Everyone to whom much was given, of him much will be required” (Luke 12 v.48)People in the ancient world were challenged by the faith of Noah in the huge ark he and his sons built over many years! Does the word of God really challenge us? It did when it was first printed! Let us read some of it every day – and our understanding will grow and – like the Eunuch, we will start to think and to ask, “What prevents me from being baptised?” [v.37] And if we are already baptised and have experienced the feeling he did after his baptism in “going on his way rejoicing” [v.39] we will find less and less to rejoice about in much of what we do in this world..We will relate to words in Peter's 1st letter. He said that genuine believers “by God's power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. In this you rejoice, though now, for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, so that the tested genuineness of your faith … may be found to result in praise and honour and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ.” [1 v.5-7]

We dive into the story of Philip and the Ethiopian Eunuch (Acts 8). Philip, a respected and Spirit-led minister, showed radical obedience, responding to the Holy Spirit's nudges with "So he did" and by running to the Eunuch's chariot. The Eunuch, a wealthy and earnest seeker reading Isaiah 53, felt like an outsider due to his status as a eunuch, but was searching for a connection to God.1 The core message is that we must submit ourselves to being followers of Christ before we can be leaders for God. Philip's deep understanding of Christ's character allowed him to interpret the Scripture and show the Eunuch that in Christ, we are all equal. Learn to recognize the Holy Spirit as the third main character—the "not-so-silent partner"—and commit to riding with the Spirit and running when He says go.1 fmhouston.com

In this episode, Ryan Swanson revisits Matthew 19 and the often-overlooked teaching of Jesus on the eunuch, bringing clarity to questions raised from the previous discussion on “Another Alternative.” Addressing confusion surrounding same-sex attraction and the absence of natural desires, he presents what he calls the “Eunuch Principle.” Rather than pushing listeners toward premature conclusions about lifelong singleness, the episode emphasizes a simple but powerful truth: singleness, in any season, is a gift meant to be stewarded for wholehearted devotion to Christ. Topics Discussed Clarifying Jesus' teaching on eunuchs in Matthew 19 The difference between absence of desire and same-sex attraction Missteps in church culture regarding marriage expectations The concept of being “born” without typical relational desires The danger of overanalyzing one's calling The “Eunuch Principle” explained Singleness as a gift, not a handicap Practical application for teens and young adults Trusting God's timing in relationships and life direction Key Takeaways Not everyone is called to marriage, and that reality is acknowledged by Jesus Himself Some confusion around identity stems from lack of desire, not perverted desire The church has sometimes wrongly treated marriage as the only “successful” outcome Singleness is not a waiting room, it is a strategic opportunity You don't need to figure out your entire life calling right now If you are single today, that is your assignment today God leads those who are already moving in obedience A life fully devoted to Christ is never wasted, regardless of future outcomes Victory over deceptive thoughts starts early, before consideration turns into acceptance. In this episode of Satisfied, the discussion continues around the question, “Was I born this way?” Rather than defaulting to the common cultural binary of heterosexual or homosexual identity, this episode explores a biblical category many have overlooked: those whom Jesus described as “born eunuchs” in Matthew 19:12. The conversation challenges assumptions about sexual desire, identity, and calling, and presents a compelling case that some individuals may be uniquely designed by God for a life of devoted, undistracted service to the King. Topics Discussed Recap of Romans 1 and the role of vain imaginations in shaping identity The difference between corruption and perversion Propensity toward sin vs. absence of sexual desire Matthew 19:12 and the three types of eunuchs Jesus describes The historical role and significance of eunuchs in ancient kingdoms The concept of intentional singleness and grace for chastity Cultural pressure equating victory with heterosexual marriage The vulnerability of those who lack sexual desire False identity formation through misplaced belonging The power of being understood in moments of isolation Reframing “born this way” through the lens of calling and purpose Viewing singleness not as deficiency, but as strategic kingdom design Key Takeaways Not every lack of heterosexual desire equals homosexual orientation. Jesus explicitly acknowledges individuals born without sexual desire. The absence of sexual desire is not a defect but may be a divine design. The church must stop presenting heterosexual marriage as the only vision of victory. Those uniquely designed for singleness may be called to powerful, focused kingdom service. Identity confusion often grows in environments where vulnerability meets misunderstanding. God does not make mistakes in design; He assigns purpose with intention. A life of undistracted devotion is not second-tier Christianity, but a high calling. Victory over deceptive thoughts starts early, before consideration turns into acceptance. Pastors Alex and Chris work through the topic of singleness and the issue of churches seemingly only dealing with marriage and family. A few imperfect and incomplete explanations are given, but we would welcome your feedback! Some terms are used that may cause you some pause. Please hear our heart and understand the pastoral implications of what we are discussing. In this powerful sermon from Redeemer Church in Midland, Texas, Pastor Jason Hatch unpacks Acts 8:26-40, recounting Philip's Spirit-led encounter with the Ethiopian eunuch on a desert road. Through the eunuch's humble search for truth in Isaiah 53, Philip explains how Jesus fulfills the prophecy as the suffering servant who died for our sins, leading to the man's genuine conversion, immediate baptism, and joyful departure—potentially carrying the gospel to Africa. This story highlights God's sovereign power in salvation, the marks of true conversion, and the call for believers to boldly share Jesus with searching hearts. A wealthy Ethiopian official journeys to Jerusalem seeking the God of Israel, only to find himself excluded from the very temple he longed to enter. David and Christine talk about ancient riddles, the Queen of Sheba, and how Philip's encounter with this outsider shows that the Gospel breaks down every barrier to bring the nations into God's family.

Fr. Mike focuses on the story of Philip and the Ethiopian Eunuch and how it demonstrates the importance of having guidance when reading Scripture. Although God's Word is infallible, we can easily misunderstand it without proper interpretation, which is why we have the Magisterium of the Church. Lastly, Fr. Mike also touches on the role of persecution in the life of the Church, and St. Paul's encouragement to abide by the law of love. Today we read Acts 8, Romans 13-14, and Proverbs 27:15-17.
