Part way into the final international break of the year and Arsenal news is thin on the ground, so we take the opportunity to assess where we, and our rivals, find ourselves. Not the best way to sign off ahead of the international break, but zoom out and the picture is still very much rosy. Join Holly, Stef and Chris as we chew over the remains of the 2-2 draw at The Stadium of Light yesterday. It was the archetypal game of two halves - the second half as good as the first half was poor. It definitely feels like two points dropped, but this Sunderland team is very capable of taking points off the very best. That said, we created more than enough to win the game. So, why didn't we? Why were we so poor in the first half? Why did we take the foot off the pedal after 74 minutes and Trossard's wonder strike? Why did we make only one change? What other changes should we have made? How much did we miss our injured players? Plenty of questions we deliberate over - enjoy, and please like, share, comment, as you see fit, thank you! Please follow & rate where you get your pods. For exclusive access & content, join our North Bank community:FREE on Patreon! 13 games unbeaten, 10 wins in a row, 8 consecutive clean sheets, joint top of the champions league table, clear at the top of the premier league, life sure is good at the moment! Join Holly, Stef and Chris as we chat about how we ensure this amazing run continues on Saturday. We may be shorn of some huge attacking talent for the trip, but we all feel we should still have enough to come away as victors. Sunderland will be tough though, sitting pretty in the top four and a reunion with Xhaka to look forward to. We also take a look back at the midweek game in Prague. There are a few shoutouts as well. Over a quarter of the way through the season and Arsenal open up a 7 (at time of recording) point gap at the top of the league. I could get used to this! Join Holly, Stef and Chris as we look back at (yet) another routine win, this time away at Burnley. Plaudits for Gyokeres, Trossard, Rice and Nwaneri, not to mention the defensive prowess of the entire team - that's ONE (debatable) shot on target against in our last 4 league games! We also look ahead to the Slavia Prague trip on Tuesday, where the biggest issue will be selecting a starting 11 from the available players. Gyokeres and Zubimendi now added to a worrying injury list that just seems to grow with each passing game. How far can we go? Should we just enjoy this one game at a time? We also look ahead to the visit of Palace on Sunday - we predict our starting line ups and potential scoreline. Set piece again, ole ole...!I will happily sing that song every week if it takes us to the title. Join Holly, Stef and Chris as we look back at the kind of win that eluded us last season against a dogged and determined Fulham side. We pour praise onto our defence - that's zero goals on target allowed in two consecutive games for the first time since the '03/04 season - and we all know what happened then. We discuss the consistency of Saka, the value of Gyokeres and the importance of putting pressure on our rivals. We also look ahead to a mouthwatering fixture against Atletico on Tuesday evening in the Champions League. Who will Arteta select and what do you think the score will be? Yay, proper football returns! Join Holly, Stef and Chris as we look forward to getting this title tilt going again away at Fulham. That's not to underestimate Fulham at all, we are looking for our first win there in three after all. We predict our starting 11s where there is debate about who starts centrally and who starts out on the left. We 'debate' whether or not we'd rather England win the world cup or Arsenal win the league cup, and there's a parallel world out there that has us supporting a team called Fulham Arsenal, if you can fathom that! Sitting pretty atop the premier league after a gruelling seven games. Still a long way to go, but it's a nice feeling all the same. Join Holly, Stef and Chris as we chat about our season so far, with a focus on the routine 2-0 home win against West Ham. We discuss Arteta ripping the handbrake off with his team selection, and whether it worked or not. We bemoan Odegaard's injury luck, praise Gyokeres' workrate and laud Rice, Timber and Zubimendi for their all round brilliance. The scoreline and match stats might point to a routine 2-0 win, but it didn't always feel like that, especially in the second half. Join Holly and Stef as we talk through the fluency of the first half, and then the more stunted performance of the second. Odegaard was at his creative best, Gyokeres did everything but score and yet another goal for a substitute. We also look ahead to West Ham at the weekend, and wonder just what starting eleven Arteta will go for. Who would you start with? Enjoy and share. Please follow & rate where you get your pods. Was this the pivotal weekend the narrative writers are claiming it was? We can't say for sure, but what we can do is enjoy what was a very very dramatic way to win a game we absolutely deserved to win. Join Holly, Stef and Chris as we look back over the key incidents of an oft times chaotic match. Eze's selection, his chances, the penalty, VAR, Trossard, Gyokeres, Gabby, Gabby again, Rice, Timber, Odegaard, Merino, Gabby again again. Plus, we have Stef's account of being in the ground, pre-match buzz and the eventual limbs in the away section. Join Holly, Stef and Chris as we take a quick look back at the routine win over Port Vale, with special mentions for Eze, Dowman and an injury free game for once! We then cast our minds forwards, and to what is going to be a very difficult fixture at Newcastle. They don't really like us up there, which is odd as recently they tend to do quite well against us. The big question surrounds our starting eleven - is Odegaard fit enough to start? Who replaces him if he isn't? We explore the options, predict our own 11s and commit to a result. So that's the Champions League up and running and we're off to the ideal start. Join Holly, Stef and Chris as we look back at a hard fought, but deserved 2-0 win in Spain. We focus on Martinelli, Trossard, squad depth, a defensive master class and the wider experience of the occasion itself. We then look ahead to City on Sunday. Which City will turn up? Will Arteta let the handbrake off a little, or will it be a 'keep it tight' game to begin with? Who would you select on the left, and who comes in for Odegaard? A frustrating result at Anfield and an exciting transfer window comes to an end. Join Holly, Stef and Chris as we attempt to process our feelings of frustration and disappointment at the performance and result against Liverpool. Was it a missed opportunity? Who or what was to blame for the defeat? Could Arteta have played his hand any differently? Has this defeat taught us anything about the rest of the season? Are you happy with 6 points from the opening 9? We also rate Arsenal's transfer window - ins very good, outs less so. Join Holly, Stef and Chris as we look ahead to our trip to Anfield on Sunday. How are we all feeling about it? Is this a good time to travel there, with Liverpool's defence looking a bit shaky in their opening two games? We discuss who we think should get the nod - will Madueke start in place of Saka, will Eze get a full debut, or will he have to settle for a place on the bench? Does Martinelli's defensive work get him in on the left? Who starts at left back? We also run through what we think will happen in the remaining days of the transfer window. We even manage to squeeze in a little laugh at United, despite the recording finishing long before their penalty shoot out loss to Grimsby. There's the usual quiz stuff as well. Enjoy. Well that escalated quickly. Despair on Tuesday to delirium on Wednesday - the life of the football fan. We rather excitedly attempt to digest the news that Eze will be joining as our 7th summer signing, whilst also turning our attention to the first game of the season at The Emirates, the visit of Leeds. Will Eze sign in time to make the bench, or will we have to 'settle' for a half time introduction? Is this the funniest hijack signing of recent history? Where does it rank in the pantheon of favourite all time signings - Ozil, Petit, Sol etc? Will Spurs ever recover? We also predict teams and scores for the actual football, and there is the return of the much-loved quiz. Enjoy. Please follow & rate where you get your pods. 'One nil to the Arsenal, one nil to the Arsenal...'Join Holly and Stef as we look back at our opening day win at Old Trafford. Great result, poor performance. Is it a performance to worry about though? Should we credit United for making our lives difficult? Are we simply bedding in new players and new systems? Or is it too reminiscent of last season's issues? We focus on the new players, along with the likes of Raya, Rice and Martinelli. Will it be Timber or White, Calafiori or Lewis Skelly? Martinelli or Madueke on the left? Isn't it great to have so many exciting options! Who will come out on top in the battle of the strikers? Would you rather lose Saka and win the league, or keep Saka and finish second? Would you rather 3 new signings - Sesko, Sane, Rogers - or every member of the current squad to remain fit for the entirety of the season? Would you rather have dinner with Saka, or have Kiwior build a shed?Join Holly, Stef and Chris for a highly enjoyable and contentious 'would you rather' epsiode. Join Holly, Stef and Chris* as we go through each member of the current squad and assess their place moving forwards. Would you keep or sell Kiwior? What about Zinchenko or Trossard? Will Martinelli and Havertz be starting our first game next season? We also have Jeorge Bird who provides a run down on players from the academy we should be looking out for next season. But be warned, we do spend the first 7 minutes discussing the transfer market!*viewers of the video version will notice a video/audio sync issue on Producer Chris. The big season review podcast is here! Join Holly, Stef and Chris as we chat through the highs and lows of the season. Who was your player of the season, what was your goal or game of the season? Which moment sent you into a tailspin of despair, or sent you to that place where you felt anything was possible? What was your biggest complaint of the season? There is plenty to be cheerful about too - our young players, our defensive solidity and mental resilience. Our listeners also have their say on the season, likewise looking forward to a busy summer in the transfer market, ahead of the new season. There is also high praise for Arsenal women and their champions league success against Barcelona. And finally, we bid a fond farewell to Tierney, wishing him all the best as he returns home. Please follow and rate us wherever you get your pods. You can also join the conversation on our socials:BlueSky@northbankpod.bsky.socialTwitter / X@northbankpodTikTok@northbankpodInstagram@northbankpodhttps://www.youtube.com/@NorthBankPodand discover loads more on our website, thenorthbankfc.com The North Bank. Finally, at the 4th time of asking, we managed to deservedly beat Newcastle. Join Holly, Stef and Chris as we focus on an impressive reaction to losing to PSG - 4 points from games against Liverpool and Newcastle speaks of superb resilience and offers plenty of hope for next season, provided those folk 'upstairs' do their job in the upcoming transfer window. The boys discuss the game itself, the lap of appreciation, an Emirates goodbye to Tierney and Jorginho and the post match speech from Arteta. We also touch on injuries, Isak, penalties, as well as looking ahead to the final game of the season on Sunday, away at Southampton, and a reunion with Ramsdale! A very creditable 2-2 draw at Anfield. Mental strength and resilience to the fore. Join Holly, Stef and Chris as we look back on the game, some individual performances, not to mention some odd crowd behaviour from the locals. We also look ahead to the final home game of the season and the visit of Newcastle. Somewhat of our bogey team this season, wouldn't it be lovely to sign off with a win. But who have we got left to actually start the game? With a possible 9 first teamers missing, are we finally grateful for the plethora of left backs we have, as we could see as many as four of them play! There is also a little quiz - name the starting 11 for Arsene Wenger's final match as Arsenal manager, 7 years ago today. Please follow and rate us wherever you get your pods. Well that was a bit crap, wasn't it?! Familiar failings, but no faulting effort. Lack of a clinical finisher, luck, tired legs and minds, and we have to bow out of the tournament at the semi final stage. Join Holly and Stef as we explore how we feel the day after, proud of the effort, frustrated with the wider context. Has this season seen us progress, plateau or slide? It's not all about reflection though - we have the small matter of a trip to Anfield on Sunday, where we'll have to pick ourselves back up and go again. I'll be honest, our score predictions aren't looking too optimistic! Please follow and rate us wherever you get your pods. Well, that wasn't the best preparation for a Champions League semi final was it?! Join Holly and Stef as we try to work out why that last 30 minutes in particular was so bloody awful. Were minds, and bodies, already on the train to Paris? Do we now have a problem defending set pieces? Will it have any bearing on what happens on Wednesday? We talk about what we need to focus on ahead of the game, how we see the game playing out - one of us predicts a defeat, one a draw and the other a win, but we all opt for the same starting 11. Let's spend the next few days sending positive vibes to Arteta and the team - this season could still be one to remember! Please follow and rate us wherever you get your pods. Paris PainIt's half time in the champions league semi-final and it's still all to play for. Join Holly and Stef as they acknowledge the quality of the opposition, whilst simultaneously seeing the potential for glory in Paris. We discuss the team selection, the absence of Partey, the atmosphere, the tifo, the early goal and the reaction. Reasons to be positive include Partey's return, lessons learned from the first game and only the one goal deficit. We also take a little look ahead to the Bournemouth game on Saturday and the small matter of wrapping up champions league qualification for next year. Here it comes, another year. One 12-year-old co-host enjoys a lock-in at The Brick, the other takes on the North Bank. In the present day, both of them ruin their chances of ever having Francis Jeffers on as a guest. We're excited to be back at Borehamwood for our penultimate game of the season there against Bristol. This time we thought we'd try out a different viewpoint and took it to the back of the North Bank. Most importantly we welcomed the last of ACL Club back onto the pitch.
