I know it's not everyone's favourite time of year, but if you listen closely winter whispers a little invitation to slow down. It's almost like it's the most natural thing of all to follow the seasons in our lives, as nature nudges us to hit pause, breathe deeply, and sink into a season of stillness. If you're new here (or new to seasonal living) here we talk about it all: how we can embrace a little more slowness and simplicity in our lives, imperfectly, and how, when we really look for it, aligning with the seasons just makes oh so much sense. Seasonal living isn't about adding something else to our lives but instead syncing up with those natural rhythms that surround us. And as we complete another year and land back in winter, it is the perfect reminder to simplify, to slow down and give ourselves a little extra care when the world feels chilly. It's easy to get caught up in the hustle with Christmas speeding at us, but what if we approached this season a little differently? What if we leaned into its slower rhythm and let it teach us how to rest, recharge, and reconnect?Oh, and if you want to join my Slow & Simple Christmas Workshop you can grab it HERE or by joining my Membership. If you're craving that slower, more intentional vibe this season (and yes, you can totally thrive in the colder months), I've got you covered. Here are a few ways to embrace the magic of seasonal living this winter while staying grounded and totally in tune with what you need. Let's do this together, okay? How to honour the slower pace of WinterA lot of what I share, when it comes to seasonal living, might make you go “Oh, of course” - and that's fine, because it does that to me too. Living seasonally is inherently in all of us, it is, after all, the most natural way for us to live. It's how we've lived as humans for centuries and that is still bred deep into our DNA. The thing is is that we've been pulled away from it. Here's the thing: nature knows what's up. Trees rest, animals hibernate, and even the landscape seems to hit pause. But us? We're out here sprinting through life like it's not below freezing.Let's take a cue from nature and slow down. Think slower mornings with a warm drink, evenings spent wrapped in blankets, and actual moments to breathe (yes, even during the chaos). Reflect on how far you've come this year, give yourself some major grace, and know it's okay to rest before diving into the next chapter.Just a quick one from me today, and I just want to take this chance to wish you a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful new year. I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Friday morning, the 8th of November, 2024, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Gospel of John 8:9: “And Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.” Alone with Jesus, what a special time of the day! It must become your most privileged time of the day, a time never to be neglected, my dear friend. Maybe we feel a little nervous or shy being alone with Jesus, a bit like when you went out on your first date. Can you remember that? When you had to get all dressed up smartly to try and impress that young lady or that young lady putting on her best dress and asking her mom, ”Do I look all right because he's coming to fetch me in a few moment's time.”Aah, but when you've spent many years and you're married and you've got children and maybe even grandchildren, aah, it is so beautiful to know each other, to be in each other's presence, and so it is when you've walked with the Master for many years. You can't wait to be with Him in the early morning before the noise and the distractions of this world take away your attention from the lover of your soul. Do not waste precious time. Savour these moments because they might even save your life. He is gentle to your troubled soul. He will give you clear direction and even confidence and peace in your heart before you have to face the day. You say, ”But I get very busy and I don't have a time to spend with the Lord.“ Oh, you need to get up earlier in the morning, my dear friend. Yes, that is one appointment you must never neglect. That is the very appointment that could save your life. You see, Jesus was left alone standing with that woman. She was the woman that the Pharisees accused of being an adulterer but Jesus said, ”Woman, where are your accusers?” And she said, ”No one Lord.” And he said, ”Neither do I condemn you. Go and sin no more.”That's what the Lord wants to do for you and I today. He wants to sit with us alone, He wants to encourage us, He wants to love us, He wants to direct us. He's a friend that sticks closer than a brother. He's not the accuser, the accuser is the devil. Early in the morning, spend time alone with Jesus. It will change your life.Jesus bless you and goodbye.

An unlikely pairing made in cinema heaven! We indulge ourselves with some fine genre fare this week. First up, Le Cercle Rouge (1970), directed by Jean-Pierre Melville, and then Zombie Flesh Eaters aka Zombie (1979), directed by Lucio Fulci. We will call out Spoiler Territory for both films, so if you want to skip ahead from that point in Le Cercle Rouge, you can rejoin the conversation at the 52:40 mark to avoid spoilers. And Spoiler Territory ends at the 1:39:22 mark for Zombie Flesh Eaters. Savour the CINEMA! Theme music: "The Cold Light of Day" by HKM. Check out HKM on #SoundCloud or Bandcamp

Celebrating Half a Century: 50 Life Lessons from 50 Years on This Planet On today's episode, I will share 50 life lessons I learned in my 50 years on this planet! Plus a BONUS wisdom because I turned 51 last Sunday! Before you go ahead and watch the full video, be sure to hit the SUBSCRIBE button so you don't miss out on another video like this! Here are the 50 lessons I learned: 1. Don't wait for something to happen to BE happy. Be happy NOW because happiness is a choice! 2. Gratitude changes everything! Remember to be grateful for every moment! 3. We are all here for a purpose! Find it, sooner rather than later, and live it! 4. When you live from your purpose, life becomes so much easier. 5. You can do hard things, but you don't have to make things hard, and there is a BIG difference! 6. On the other side of every discomfort, there is a big breakthrough! 7. LOVE yourself first. before expecting anyone else to LOVE you! 8. Give without expectation 9. Drop the self-judgment 10. Laugh more 11. Remember that your life is a reflection of your inner world and if you want to see something different on the outside, you have to change on the inside! 12. Live and LOVE unconditionally! 13. Look people in the eye 14. Give first, what you want to receive 15. Have compassion -first towards yourself and others 16. Learn a new skill, but more importantly, APPLY it every day 17. Savour every mouthful of food you have 18. Don't waste calories on food that you don't enjoy 19. Remember you are not your thoughts! 20. You don't attract what you want, you attract who you are! 21. Remember, YOU are the creator of your own life! 22. Ask for help and be open to receiving it. 23. Receive with gratitude 24. STOP complaining about stuff 25. See the good in every situation, because life is rigged in your favour, even when things seem to be going wrong! 26. Anything is possible! 27. Self-doubt is the ONLY reason why you cannot achieve the outcomes you desire 28. You are not your job title 29. What other people think of you, is none of your business! 30. Focus on what you can change, leaving the rest to the Universe! 31. When people show you who they are, believe them the first time! 32. Rest, your mind and your body. 33. STOP doubting yourself - you never doubted your newborn baby, you are no different! 34. Surround yourself with people who make you feel good. 35. Guard the information you put into your mind because it changes everything 36. Find ways to feel good every day 37. Drop the things that make you feel heavy 38. Smile 39. Watch your words, especially those you say to yourself 40. Love your body - that is where you live for the rest of your life 41. No matter how ‘old' you might get, your soul never gets old 42. Don't blame others for your circumstances, instead ask yourself: “ How did I contribute to this?” 43. Remember, everything you have today was created in your mind first. 44. Focus on what you want to create, not the lack of it. 45. Trust yourself to always make the right decision, 46. Seeing is not believing. You'll see it, even when it is not there yet if you believe first! 47. Only YOU can decide how you experience life (read this one again!) 48. Everything has always been, is now and will always be fine (my favourite saying of all time) 49. You'll find exactly what you are looking for when you stop searching it outside yourself. 50. You got this! BONUS - You can do anything! You just have to DECIDE!

Our chapter opens in Marlow, that bustling, lively, river-side town, with our esteemed travellers - sweet-natured, mischief-prone Harris, considered and affable George, our ever-observant narrator, and that whirling dervish canine companion, Montmorency. We voyage through history, through crumbling stone walls hiding whispered secrets, and the idyllic country paths teeming with long-lost summers roaming in the fragrance of memory.Venture upstream towards Sonning and stand before the grandeur of Bisham Abbey, a relic of time, graced by the footsteps of Anne of Cleves, Queen Elizabeth, and the infamous Knights Templar. Jeremiah's delightful prose brings alive the spectral shadows of the Lady Holy and the striking figures of history that graced its halls.Weary from the day's exploits, we escape to Hurley Village, a time-frozen alcove where the whispers of a thousand years echo in your ears. Savour the enigma of the infamous Medmenham monks, known widely as the "Hell Fire Club." Explore an Abbey that promises a world of stern and strange, pious Cistercian monks cloaked in silence, and the curious, irreverent jesters who dared to disturb it centuries later.Explore the myriad faces of the delightful Montmorency as his mortal enmity with cats leads to more than one incident of hilarious tom-foolery. His antics are sure to leave you chortling in delight. And who can forget the escapade at the Civil Service Stores, where a fox-terrier brought forth a pandemonium that would make even the strongest crumble.Steer with us through breath-taking landscapes bathed in the golden light of sunset, and down to the sombre bareness that trails Henley. Discover a mirthless departure from Marlow, an impressive procession of man, beast, and some adorable drifters. Beware the steam launches, the bane of every rowing gentleman's existence, as our trio engages in a saga of exciting encounters.A chance consumption of river water, a sobering encounter with a peaceful dog, and a mysteriously disappearing Harris (along with that day's dinner), make sure that adventure never veers too far from our unsuspecting heroes.
