When Shasta met Christine, a fellow author and speaker, she was everything Shasta wanted to be: she had just published a book, she'd been interviewed on TV, and she had a press kit. Shasta was green with envy. We've all been there—a friend has more money, goes on cooler vacations, is happily in love while we just went through a breakup. We wish we had their job, body, house, or relationship. It's inevitable to feel jealousy and envy sometimes, but how do we make sure our feelings don't jeopardize our friendships? Today, Shasta and Christine dish on all the icky emotions they've experienced and share how they've been able to get back to a place of peace. They also reflect on how they've been able to be candid about their envy while keeping the friendship feeling positive. Finally, Shasta teaches how to distinguish between the different types of jealousy and envy so that we can choose the wisest response. In this episode, Shasta and Christine answer the questions:What is the difference between jealousy and envy? How can you distinguish between unreliable and reliable jealousy? How do you cheer for a friend when you're feeling envious of them? How can envy lead us to personal growth and empowerment? When you're feeling envious, how can you shift your mindset to a more positive one?Should you tell your friend if you're feeling envious of them? In today’s episode we have Amy Ahlers who is an incredible coach and speaker. She has spoken big stages like Google and Oracle and she is also the host of the Amy Ahler’s show podcast. She is a best-selling author of The Big Fat Lies Women Tell Themselves and Reform Your Inner Mean Girl.   This conversation is off the charts! We go deep and we cover a lot of ground. We talk about death, our inner critic and also our own personal inner voice of worry. Amy shares what it takes to silence, or at least quiet, that inner voice every single day. She always has so many things to say about women’s rights and equality and our ability to keep doing everything even though our plate is full. You’ll hear us talk about the changes that are taking place in the world and Amy’s work is definitely part of that change.   “Your inner life is so similar to other people’s inner life. You are not damaged. You are not unloveable. You are not weird. It’s the human experience. We all have these voices that beat us up. We all experience not feeling good enough. There is nothing wrong with you.”~ Amy Ahlers   Toward the end of the conversation, Amy and I do an exercise where we share our personal inner worries. I hope you’ll listen. Especially if you are finding life hard. I want you to know that you are not alone.  I’d love to hear what you think of this conversation. We are back this week with another archived episode that is from a long time ago. In it, my friend and associate Amy Ahlers, author of, Big Fat Lies Women Tell Themselves and Reform Your Inner Mean Girl, talks about all things inner mean girl (aka inner critic)!  Since the original airing of this episode, I have really gotten to know Amy. She has so much experience and tenure in the personal development industry, this woman knows her stuff, so I am happy to re-share this episode with you.  We all love formulas and processes, right? Well, Amy has come up with a 3-step process for transforming your inner mean girl, which she talks about in the episode.  In this episode, you’ll also hear: What exactly is inner-wisdom and what to do if we don’t know where to start when it comes to listening to it.  I ask Amy what is the most common big fat lie women tell themselves. (The answer doesn’t surprise me at all!)  Amy tells us what her biggest trigger is and what are the steps she actually takes to manage her own inner mean girl. I ask Amy about a blog post she wrote, “Is Your Need to Belong Sabotaging You?” and what do we do when we find ourselves changing who we are just to fit in and belong I love that Amy and I have so much of a similar philosophy about the inner-critic and I hope this episode is helpful to you!  http://yourkickasslife.com/293

We live in a time when you just can't plan out your life 3, 5, 10 years in advance and then follow 'the plan' - although our minds and desires for safety would love that. We live in a time when the world is changing fast, and we are each being 'called up' to new sacred assignments, ways of living and working that our soul signed up for. These 'soul stretches' and catalysts are calling for us each to step out of comfort zones and step into into a zone where we often can't see how it will work out, how it can work out and if it will work out. This is where the Feminine Wisdom teaching - the feminine super power of Stepping in the Unknown comes in. It's a different way of operating that most of us were not taught, but it is a REAL thing. In this Feminine Power Time, Stepping in the Unknown with Courage and Clarity to Chart the Path Ahead: Planning the Feminine Wisdom Way, the 3rd in our series on Feminine Wisdom, I'll share the wisdom teaching on Stepping in the Unknown. And make it personal for you so you can work with it and can step through the changes coming with grace and courage, feeling and being supported, including: Why the way we've been trained to plan and strategize and create goals won't work - and an elevated, wiser way to approach creating your work, life, relationships that does   Wisdom about your Soul Codex  - what it is, how it to activate, access and align with it so you can access the wisdom needed to chart your path ahead and find you way  How you can find your way through the uncertainty and unknown - so you don't get lost in the dark or get scared and turn back or move too fast or stretch too far and screw yourself up  How to create a 'path' for crossing whatever threshold your soul is calling you into - there is a wise way and a stupid way to make changes :)  Stories about how I've navigated the unknown to make choices from courage, and worked with other women to cross thresholds - there is wisdom to tell us how to "do" this differently Personal reflection and meditation on your current threshold crossings - so we can make sure you don't try and straddle the grand canyon or get lost in the wilderness If you missed the previous Feminine Wisdom Series episodes, #68 on Intuitive Attunement & #67 on Synchronicity with guest Nilima Bhat from Shakti Leadership, tune in!  To join me this fall at the Discover Your Feminine Wisdom weekend workshop in San Francisco go to www.FeminineWisdomRetreat.com To learn more about working with the two inner forces within women and girls - the inner wisdom and the inner mean girl -- through the Path of Self Love Training and Certificate program or the 3-month personal Reform Your Inner Mean Girl. Today my wife and I discuss the new book Reform Your Inner Mean Girl. Although the book is not written by Christians, the authors identify some common problems people have with inner-bullying voices and they prescribe steps that are similar to those commonly used in the ministry of inner healing. We compare and contrast  their approach to dealing with inner voices and our approach.  Resources Mentioned in This Episode:We're recommending the book with a few words of caution because many of the principles the authors discuss are valid and the book may help you identify the voices you live with. If you have friends or family who are not Christians, the book may be able to open a door for a discussion with them about the nature of this problem and it might allow you at some point to bring Jesus into the conversation. However, since the authors are not Christians, if you decide to purchase their book please use wisdom and discernment. Always allow the Holy Spirit to lead you and provide direction in these matters.  If you'd like to take the Inner Mean Girl quiz, click this link.
