Pastor Brent unpacks how Jesus spent his "bonus time" after resurrection not on tasks or teachings, but on being present with others—showing us that connection isn't just nice, it's necessary. He reveals four powerful ways relationships transform us: they combat loneliness, bring joy, provide support, and create space to practice love in ways that draw us closer to God's heart.ReferencesScripture: Genesis 2:15–25About The Local ChurchFor more information about The Local Church, visit our website. Today we are beginning a new series called We Just Click: God's Design for Meaningful Relationships. This whole series could be summed up in a single verse, that comes at the beginning of the Bible. God says it at the end of creation “It's not good that the human is alone.” – God (Gen. 2.18). In other words, we need others, we need relationships. So let's start by understanding why relationships are so important - and what often gets in the way.

How do you find the people that can help you grow your business and achieve your goals? I found myself asking this question and similar ones multiple times. But if you're familiar with my journey, then you know that I have one consistent answer to that question -- start a podcast. In this episode, I share one of the most crucial parts of the journey to mastery program and dissect it so that you can get the most value possible. Here are my 3 key takeaways:Start a podcast: No one starts strong, and no one certainly begins a task they are already accomplished in. I didn't, and you don't have to. What really matters is being able to initiate that journey and reach the people you need to by broadcasting your message. I can say with absolute certainty that podcasting is a not only heavily rewarding for my business but also a large factor in my personal growth and journey.Own Your Distribution Platform: I'm sure everyone would love to instantly have the biggest follower count and have their content go viral. But if your experience is anything like mine, then you know that social media is not the most reliable. I've found that investing in a platform where you can privately and reliably share your message is the most rewarding course of action in that regard.Keep your message consistent: Who, what, why, when, where, and how? These are the questions I've allowed to shape my message and my audience. Defining these helps me make sure that my message is informative and delivers the most value to my audience.Master Your Journey

What's the secret sauce to evangelization? Aside from the Holy Spirit, it's curiosity—genuinely wanting to know and understand the person in front of you. When you show sincere interest in someone's story, experiences, and thoughts, you create space for authentic connection. This curiosity builds trust and opens the door to deeper conversations where faith can be shared naturally. Evangelization isn't about having all the answers—it's about being present, listening, and letting relationships grow organically. To help you do this, our team has developed Elevate! (https://archomaha.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/Elevate.pdf), a new small group resource designed for meaningful conversations with friends who aren't ready for a traditional Bible study. In this episode, I sit down with Andy Dejka, the mastermind behind Elevate!, to explore how it fosters deeper dialogue. We discuss its unique four-week, four-person, four-question format, leadership requirements, and the heart behind its creation. Andy also shares his personal call to mission, including how running a stand at a local farmer's market shaped his approach to evangelization. Join us for this insightful conversation on building real relationships and drawing people closer to the Lord. In this transformative episode we explore how to move from isolation to connection by building meaningful relationships that nourish your mental, emotional, and social well-being. This conversation between therapists April Bordeau and Teresa Land explores the importance of connection and the impact of isolation on mental health.Join us as we discuss barriers to connection, such as trauma, attachment styles, and societal pressures for independence and some great strategies for overcoming these barriers.Practical Strategies for Overcoming Isolation:Recognize that your self-worth is innate and not dependent on the outcome of relationships. Develop self-knowledge. Spend time reflecting on your attachment style, past hurts, and triggers. Understand where your fears come from so you can address them.Practice self-compassion. Treat yourself with kindness when you experience fears or doubts or even hurt.Start small. Begin by building casual connections and gradually work towards deeper relationships. This allows you to build trust and confidence at a pace you're comfortable with.Cultivate curiosity. When you feel fear creeping in, shift your mindset to one of curiosity. Ask questions to understand the other person's perspective rather than making assumptions.Be honest and vulnerable. Share your authentic self, including your flaws and insecurities, with trusted individuals. This can help build deeper connections and overcome the fear of rejection.Recognize not all relationships will be deep. Accept that you won't connect profoundly with everyone. Focus on finding common ground and enjoying the relationships that do develop naturally.Quotes from the Episode:"True connection doesn't happen in perfection—it happens in vulnerability and authenticity.""To be loved but not known is comforting but superficial. To be known but not loved is our greatest fear. But to be fully known and loved is, well, a lot like being loved by God. It is what we need more than anything. It liberates us from pretense, humbles us out of our self righteousness, and fortifies us for any difficulty that life can throw at us." – Tim Keller  Links & Resources:Try Softer - by Aundi Kolber Trust & Boundaries - both by Henry Cloud Spiritual Practices for the Brain - by Anne Kertz Kernion Follow Care to Change on Facebook  https://www.facebook.com/CaretoChange.org/Follow Care to Change on Instagram @care_to_changeSee our YouTube page hereIf you would like someone to come speak to your group about anxiety, depression or mental health, contact us for more details. If you are struggling and ready to take a step toward freedom, schedule an appt today.

Clarify your purpose — and stop wasting time. The new year gives us an opportunity to reflect on who we are and who we want to be. As we set resolutions and prepare for evolutions, this special four-part series on communication, happiness, and well-being explores practical ways to enhance our lives through better communication, deeper connections, and more meaningful choices. As Cassie Holmes knows, how we spend our time has a big impact on our happiness and well-being. For her, that means focusing on the things not just immediately in front of us, but those that most closely align with our purpose."When I say purpose, what I mean is what really drives you," explains Holmes, a professor at UCLA Anderson School of Management and author of Happier Hour: How to Beat Distraction, Expand Your Time, and Focus on What Matters Most. Living a happier and more fulfilled life, she says, rests on using purpose to drive our decisions. “Once you clarify for yourself: what is your purpose? What is your why? Then you can use that as a filter [for] where you should be spending your time.”In this episode of Think Fast, Talk Smart, Holmes and host Matt Abrahams explore practical strategies for being more purposeful with our time.
