God is truth, God is love, and God is being itself. Today's Catechism readings begin to unpack the eternal nature of God and share with us God's “innermost secret." Fr. Mike teaches us that because God made us in his image and likeness, then we too are called to embody truth and love. Today's readings are Catechism paragraphs 212-221. This episode has been found to be in conformity with the Catechism by the Institute on the Catechism, under the Subcommittee on the Catechism, USCCB. Steve Wiggins of GroundworksMinistries.com is sharing a devotional from the Old Testament book of Malachi, Chapter Two.
Have you ever felt neglected or abandoned by God? Do you ever question his justice? After the exile, it's fair to assume that Israel felt neglected by God. After all, how could he allow a pagan nation to flourish, while His own people suffered? This sermon will help you process those feelings with the truth of God's Word.
Malachi charges the priests with faithlessness. They are told if they do not change their ways their line will end. Today the church is a kingdom of priests. We each have our priestly rolls to fulfill. We must follow Christ and present Him in our lives as He is.
God gave the Levites instructions to teach the people, His laws and His judgments, and His statutes. But God was angry then and also now because spiritual leaders were not and are not doing their assignments appropriately, which provokes God to anger which causes Him to release His judgments, His fury, His anger, and His wrath in the land. There must be true repentance, and genuine return to God, to live by His instructions.

We will spend this Advent season studying the book of Malachi. Through Malachi, the Lord reproves and pursues his people - calling them to remember his covenant, seek him genuinely, and prepare for his coming. This week we look to Malachi 2:17-3:5.*Due to an audio issue on Sunday morning, the recording quality is poor on this particular sermon.*Three questions: Oh God, where is your justice? Oh God, why do we need refining? Oh God, will you answer our cries for justice?‘What then did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet. This is he of whom it is written, “Behold, I send my messenger before your face, who will prepare your way before you." Matthew 11:9-10"Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, 'Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord." Romans 12:19He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God? We will spend this Advent season studying the book of Malachi. Through Malachi, the Lord reproves and pursues his people - calling them to remember his covenant, seek him genuinely, and prepare for his coming. This week we look to Malachi 2:10-16.“What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.” Mark 10:9How to “Guard Yourselves and Be Not Faithless”:We must regard marriage as the holy and sacred institution that it is.We must prefer obedience to self-fulfillment.We must walk in humility. We must nurture our children toward a holy and high view of marriage. We must remember the gospel. The LORD said to me in the days of King Josiah: “Have you seen what she did, that faithless one, Israel, how she went up on every high hill and under every green tree, and there played the whore? And I thought, ‘After she has done all this she will return to me,' but she did not return, and her treacherous sister Judah saw it. Jeremiah 3:6-7“She saw that for all the adulteries of that faithless one, Israel, I had sent her away with a decree of divorce. Yet her treacherous sister Judah did not fear, but she too went and played the whore. Because she took her whoredom lightly, she polluted the land, committing adultery with stone and tree. Yet for all this her treacherous sister Judah did not return to me with her whole heart, but in pretense, declares the LORD.” Jeremiah 3:8-10“Return, faithless Israel, declares the LORD. I will not look on you in anger, for I am merciful, declares the LORD. I will not be angry forever.” Jeremiah 3:13The saying is trustworthy, for: “If we have died with him we will also live with him; if we endure, we will also reign with him; if we deny him, he also will deny us; if we are faithless, he remains faithful – for he cannot deny himself.” 2 Timothy 2:11-13Life Church exists to glorify God by making disciples who treasure Christ, grow together, and live on mission. In this sermon, Pastor Clint walks thru Malachi 2:17–3:5. Israel puts God “in the dock,” questioning his goodness and justice. The LORD promises a messenger to prepare for His coming, where He will purify His people and judge sinners. This points to Christ, with John the Baptist as the messenger and Jesus as the refining Lord who brings both salvation and judgment.

The Lord's Messenger purifies God's people but punishes the perverse.
In this sermon, Pastor Clint walks us thru Malachi 2:10-16. God warns that spiritual neglect fractures relationships, as unfaithfulness to God leads to betrayal among His people. Israel's idolatry and broken marriages dishonor their shared covenant identity. Our relationships matter because they reflect our unity as God's children, fulfilled in Christ. Through His faithfulness, Jesus restores us to God and empowers us to nurture relationships that reflect His covenant love.
Faithless hearts produce faithless lives and are cut off by the Lord of Hosts.
In this sermon, Pastor Kevin looks at Malachi 2:1-9. God rebukes the priests for dishonoring His name, corrupting His covenant with Levi, and leading others astray. He warns of curses and disgrace for their unfaithfulness, contrasting their failure with His desire for reverent, faithful leaders. This points to Christ, the ultimate High Priest, who perfectly honors God and brings life, peace, and truth, fulfilling what human priests could not.

Malachi 2:17-3:7 The Purifying Justice of Jesus
The nation of Israel makes some strong accusations against God, putting Him on trial. The irony is that the nation was the guilty party, working injustice and withholding the tithe. So, God challenges them to try Him in a different way. Return to Him, test His character, and find out if He is faithful to His promises.
Individuals in the nation are committing acts of betrayal against God. This concerns Yahweh because betrayal against God always leads to betrayal against others, even their partners in the marriage covenant. Ultimately, this points us to the one faithful groom who's never betrayed His bride.

Fr. Mike summarizes the final moments of the book of Nehemiah, when Nehemiah returns to find the people of Israel being unfaithful to God's commandments and marrying foreign wives. Fr. Mike connects this to our lives, as we too often confuse God's unending love for us to mean that he always wants what we want.Today's readings are Nehemiah 13, Malachi 1-4, and Proverbs 21: 25-28. Send us a textAdditional Warning to the Priests2 “And now, you priests, this warning is for you. 2 If you do not listen, and if you do not resolve to honor my name,” says the Lord Almighty, “I will send a curse on you, and I will curse your blessings. Yes, I have already cursed them, because you have not resolved to honor me.3 “Because of you I will rebuke your descendants[a]; I will smear on your faces the dung from your festival sacrifices, and you will be carried off with it. 4 And you will know that I have sent you this warning so that my covenant with Levi may continue,” says the Lord Almighty. 5 “My covenant was with him, a covenant of life and peace, and I gave them to him; this called for reverence and he revered me and stood in awe of my name. 6 True instruction was in his mouth and nothing false was found on his lips. He walked with me in peace and uprightness, and turned many from sin.7 “For the lips of a priest ought to preserve knowledge, because he is the messenger of the Lord Almighty and people seek instruction from his mouth. 8 But you have turned from the way and by your teaching have caused many to stumble; you have violated the covenant with Levi,” says the Lord Almighty. 9 “So I have caused you to be despised and humiliated before all the people, because you have not followed my ways but have shown partiality in matters of the law.”Join Pastor Daryl as he journeys through the entire Bible.
