On this episode of Majority Rules, the gang starts off with everyone's favorite topic, Mizzou Baseball, which leads to a lengthy discussion between the group about whether Bieser should have gotten fired and how short KJ's leash is given the woeful season. Matthew and Sammy also have thoughts about the new turf announcement, Sam Horn's debut, and predictions on if they will win an SEC game this season. Rory is back and joins the group in real-time to talk all things Mizzou Tennis & Golf. Bianca Turati has done a really nice job with the tennis team this season, and the golf teams continue to shine under coaches Millican (men's) and Westrup Gaeta (women's). Since Karen has been focusing on gym, both Matthew and Dylan handle the softball updates, as they recap the pretty good (?) A&M series, which included yet another W over another no. 1 team. They discuss playing through injuries, postseason expectations (or not), and Madison Walker raking. Abigail then joins via video update with a quick recap of all you've missed in Mizzou Track & Field. There also were a lot of updates for out of season sports, as WBB continues to make news. Players with no eligibility are entering in the portal (insert Succession "You are not serious people" gif here), Harper lost the only incoming freshman recruit, but really, there's a lot of be excited for. The group chats briefly about who she's brought in, and how this is a sneaky good class that just needs a couple more pieces. Matthew shares volleyball and wrestling updates while Karen's wifi goes off the rails, before returning with all awesome news out of Gymnastics. There's so much to talk about from this incredible season, and it's all exciting (and somewhat infuriating regarding ESPN/ABC disappearing the team & some suspect scores) as they have left a mark on Mizzou history. Rory wraps up with a swim transfer update, and the team talks about Larissa Anderson's breaking social media post on the way out. Never a dull moment with this group and Majority Rules. We're back after a brief break with a new episode Majority Rules, and there is much to discuss! What's old is new in most cases here, as diamond sports continue to struggle. Can ANYONE help this baseball team win, or is it a Kerrick Jackson problem? What is his future as the University continues to throw no money into the program? As for softball, they've reached a precipice, and are looking at the real possibility of missing the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2006. What troubles this team, and can they fix it? On to track, where Professor Klapatauskas is assigning grades for each of the Tigers' track & field sections in a frenzied outdoor season thus far. Our resident gymthusiast Karen is back with some exciting updates as the team continues to charge on. Next stop? Dallas Fort Worth for Nationals for the second time in four years! Women's Hoops has a ton of updates, most of it great, and Dylan talks about how Kellie Harper has filled out her assistant coaching pool and is starting to bring in some new additions. Everyone go check out his piece on 15 +1 targets he thinks Mizzou has a shot at-- it's good stuff. Matthew talks volleyball updates from an impressive preseason event he attended and gives his thoughts on the SEC schedule release before sharing some needed wrestling recruiting news. Finally, Rory chimes in via video with some great men's and women's golf updates -- is Mizzou a Golf School now? -- and some recent tennis news. Thanks for tuning in! Welcome to another episode of Dive Cuts. It was a disappointing end to the season, but taking a step back, it was still largely a successful year as Dennis Gates and Missouri looked to gain a bigger foothold in the landscape of the SEC. It's been a few weeks since Sam and Matt podcasted about the Tigers, and a lot has happened since then. The guys talk about what happened to Mizzou down the stretch, and what caused things to get sideways over the last 3 weeks. Plus, PORTAL SZN is here! In this episode of Majority Rules, Karen is joined by the roommates, Matthew & Dylan, to chat about wrestling woes -- with the exception of our CHAMP Keegan and a couple of other decent performances, it was the worst conference wrestling performance in 20 years so... yikes. The hits keep coming as the chat moves onto diamond sports duds, as Karen & Dylan discuss what's going on with softball and how a weekend at home could help heal them, as well as how baseball continues to struggle with injuries, pitching, and well.... everything. Apologies on the limited baseball update; Matthew had to run. Abigail swoops in via video for a rapid-fire NCAA preview that is delightful as always, and then the talk shifts to the awesomeness that is Mizzou Gymnastics and the season they're having. They're coming together at the right time and the sky is the limit for Welker's crew. Rory then joins via video message with some uplifting updates on women's golf, who ended the fall season on a high note and are continuing to do well, and some notes on men's golf before moving onto Mizzou's RANKED tennis team, swimming updates with NCAAs on the horizon, and diving updates from the Zone D qualifying meet in Iowa. Lastly, Karen & Dylan regroup to talk about the WBB coaching search, of which there appear to be some clear targets, and it looks like Laird held up his end of the bargain in actually being willing to shell out some money to perhaps poach a sitting Power 4 coach. The vibes are promising around Mizzou WBB right now, which feels....weird. Thanks for tuning in! M-I-Z! In this extra special episode of Majority Rules, the crew welcomes in KCOU's Jeffrey Calhoun and the Missourian's Kevin Utz to provide their takes on the hottest topic in Mizzou Athletics, the women's hoops coaching search! After discussing the importance of Laird Veatch's first hire as the Mizzou AD, the group gets into their picks, starting out with a lively discussion about the internet's favorite candidate, Molly Miller. Members of the group then offer up their own top picks, pleading their cases for their chosen candidate(s) while also sharing any reservations they may have. Finally, the group wraps up individual elevator pitches about "Why Mizzou?" and gives a confidence ranking on the athletic department getting this hire right. Their answers may surprise you.
