Presented by the Starkville CVB, Pip Printing and Signs of Ridgeland, and L'uva Wine Room - What can we gather after watching three weeks of SEC Football?
Tulane travels to Ole Miss in a rematch of last year's Ole Miss win. The game can be seen on ESPN at 2:30 Central. Topics include: Will we see Austin Simmons or Trinidad Chambliss at quarterback? The Rebels had trouble with a dual-threat quarterback last week and will see another in Tulane's Jake Retzlaff, the BYU transfer who led the Green Wave to a win over Duke. Ole Miss's rebuilt defense gave up 526 yards in the Arkansas game; will this be another shootout like last week's 41-35 contest? And more. Jay Greeson, Chris Lee and Chase Robinson discuss Arkansas's road trip to Memphis for an 11:00 kickoff in a game shown on the SEC Network. Topics discussed include: This is a battle of outstanding dual-threat quarterbacks in Arkansas's Taylen Green and Memphis's Brandon Lewis Arkansas struggled mightily on defense in a loss at Ole Miss last week. The teams haven't played since 1998. Can Arkansas avoid mistakes in a game that looks on paper to be a high-scoring contest? Jay Greeson, Chris Lee and Chase Robinson preview Auburn's road trip to Oklahoma. The game may be seen on ABC at 2:30 Central. Topics include: It's a rematch of Auburn quarterback Jackson Arnold vs. his former team. Arnold has been a dynamic runner, but the Auburn passing attack has not gotten the ball to star receivers Cam Coleman and Eric Singleton Jr. to take advantage of their abilities to the degree the Tigers hoped. Auburn running back Jeremiah Cobb has run for 314 yards and six touchdowns. Auburn is turning it over on just 0.5% of snaps, and the Sooners have not gained a turnover yet. Oklahoma quarterback John Mateer has established himself as a Heisman Trophy candidate, rushing for 161 yards and four scores while throwing for 944 yards and five touchdowns, but also three interceptions. The Sooners have had trouble running the ball from the running back position, as Jadyn Ott has been a non-factor and Tory Blalock (166 yards, 3 TD) has become the main threat Mateer has rapport with tight end Jared Kanak (14 catches, 225 yards) and wide receiver Deion Burks (17 catches, 225 yards). Auburn's defense, led by Keyron Crawford, Keldric Faulk and Xavier Atkins, has been stingy, allowing just 14 points per game and 4.9 yards per play. Oklahoma's defense has been even better, giving up 6.3 points per game and 3.5 yards per play. Defensive stars for the Sooners include Kip Lewis, Gracen Halton, Samuel Omosigho and Taylor Wein. BY THE NUMBERS: OKLAHOMA OFFENSE: 33.7 ppg, 6.4 yards per play, 4.5 yards per rushing play, 8.2 yards per passing play, AUBURN DEFENSE: 14.0 ppg, 4.6 yards per play, 2.9 yards per rushing play, 6.0 yards per passing play, 27 stops for loss, 11 sacks, force turnovers 1.6% of snaps AUBURN OFFENSE: 37.0 ppg, 6.3 yards per play, 6.6 yards per rushing play, 5.8 yards per passing play OKLAHOMA DEFENSE: 6.3 ppg, 3.5 yards per play, 4.2 yards per rushing play, 2.8 yards per passing play, 26 stops for loss, 7 sacks, but has forced no turnovers. South Carolina travels to Missouri to face the Tigers on Saturday at 6 Central on ESPN. Jay Greeson, Chase Robinson and Chris Lee discuss the following topics around the game: South Carolina's LaNorris Sellers may or may not play after exiting the Vanderbilt game late in the first half with injury. If he can't go, Luke Doty will start. The Gamecocks had fits in a 31-7 loss to Vanderbilt, especially on the offensive line. South Carolina's best hopes are the play-making abilities of wide receiver Nyck Harbor and safety/punt returner Vicari Swain. Missouri has been dominant everywhere in a 3-0 start. Quarterback Beau Pribula has two terrific play-makers in wide receivers Kevin Coleman Jr. and Marquez Johnson. The Tigers' rushing attack of Ahmad Hardy and Jamal Roberts has been impressive. In this episode, we relive Georgia's dramatic 44–41 road win over Tennessee in Neyland Stadium. We cover everything from our Pigeon Forge trip to the Vol Navy tailgating scene and surprisingly cordial Tennessee fans. The Dawgs overcame a 21–7 deficit behind Gunner Stockton's breakout 304-yard, 3-TD performance, a dominant second-half rushing drive, and clutch plays from Colbie Young, Zachariah Branch, and London Humphreys. We dig into Kirby Smart's culture win and why Georgia's offensive line shuffle and defensive lapses still leave room for improvement. Special teams excellence, Tennessee's kicker meltdown, and updated AP poll talk round things out before rapid-fire reactions to Clemson's struggles, Miami's rise, A&M's thriller over Notre Dame, and Vanderbilt's shocker at South Carolina. A much-needed bye week looms before the massive showdown with Alabama in Athens. We hope you enjoy this episode, and as always, GO DAWGS! Jay Greeson, Chris Lee and Chase Robinson preview Wisconsin's road trip to Alabama, a rematch of a game Alabama won handily last year. The game can be seen on ABC at 11 Central. Topics include: Alabama followed up a poor performance at Florida State with a 73-0 demolition of Louisiana Monroe. Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson hit all 17 of his throws and Keelon Russell and Austin Mack both threw two touchdowns. A health update on wide receiver Ryan Williams. Wisconsin won 17-0 over Miami of Ohio, and a closer-than-it-should-have-been game with Middle Tennessee State. Quarterback Danny O'Neill leads coach Luke Fickell's offense, with Vinny Anthony II, Lance Mason and Jayden Ballard all over 100 yards receiving through two games. Jay Greeson, Chris Lee and Chase Robinson share their predictions for Arkansas's trip to Ole Miss in the 2025 college football season in a game that may be seen on ESPN at 6 Central on ESPN. Topics include: In a game of talented quarterbacks, Arkansas's Taylen Green's experience could be important. He leads the SEC with 10 TD passes. Austin Simmons is very talented, but has thrown an SEC-worst four picks. Ole Miss's Kewan Lacy is the SEC's leading rusher and Harrison Wallace III, its leading receiver. The Rebels' linebacking crew of TJ Dottery and Suntarine Perkins will be on the spot defending Green. Stopping the run has been a problem for Ole Miss, while Arkansas has been tremendous on the ground so far. Chris Lee and Blake Lovell break down Missouri's game with Louisiana and offer picks. Topics include: Missouri QB Beau Pribula has been sensational, completing 79.1% of his passes and showing terrific mobility, too. Tigers' wide receiver Kevin Coleman Jr. leads the SEC in receptions (16) and ninth in yards (174) and has been explosive in the open field. Missouri tight end Brett Norfleet tied with SEC lead with 3 TDs and has shown athleticism for the position, too. Missouri's running-back tandem of Ahmad Hardy is (second in the SEC with 212 rushing yards) and Jamal Roberts (eighth with 176) has been terrific. Protection and turnovers can be an issue with Missouri (Week One sacks by Central Arkansas and a fumble that resulted in a Kansas touchdown last week). Louisiana quarterback Walker Howard is talented--he's been at Ole Miss and LSU--but his production this year (10-of-22, 88 yards, 0 TDs, 1 interception) hasn't been great. Running back Bill Davis (30 carries, 190 yards) leads the Rajin' Cajuns rushing attack. The Louisiana defense has given up just 14 points in a loss to Rice, and 10 in a defeat of McNeese State. Chris Lee and Blake Lovell discuss Oklahoma's road trip to Philadelphia to face Temple, which will host the Sooners at Lincoln Financial Field. The game will be shown on ESPN2 at 11 Central. Topics discussed include: Quarterback John Mateer leads the Southeastern Conference with 662 passing yards and also in total offense (760). Oklahoma needs more out of running back position, and particularly from Jayden Ott. The Sooners' defense has given up 3.3 and 5.1 ypp in wins over Illinois State and Michigan and is loaded in the front seven. Temple is a little better than it normally is. The Owls are 2-0 after beating UMass 42-10 and Howard 55-7. K.C. Keeler is a first-year coach at Temple; coached last two years at Sam Houston State. Offensive players to watch for Temple include quarterback Evan Simon (27-of-35, 422 yards, nine touchdowns and no interceptions) and running back Jay Ducker (29 carries, 219 yards, one touchdown). Is this a potential let-down spot for Oklahoma between an early kickoff in a large stadium with lots of empty seats and a big game ahead with Auburn following an emotional win over Michigan? Chris Lee and Blake Lovell break down Kentucky's game with Eastern Michigan, which will be shown on ESPNU at 6:30 Central on Saturday night. Topics include: Is Kentucky a bad football team, or just a quality one that suffers from comparison within a hyper-competitive Southeastern Conference? Kentucky needs to solve its quarterback woes with production from either Zach Calzada (who may be out for the Eastern Michigan game) or Cutter Boley, who played at the end of the Ole Miss loss after Calzada got hurt. The 'Cats have a big-play threat at running back in Nebraska transfer Dante Dowdell. Kentucky's defense is a quality one, led by productive linebacker Alex Afari. Eastern Michigan's defense has been abysmal, allowing 606 yards and 52 points in a loss to Texas State, and 479 yards in a stunning defeat to Long Island (which had two first downs vs. Florida the week before). Quarterback Noah Kim (41-of-63, 437 yards, 3 TD, 0 interceptions) is the player to watch for the Eagles. Jay Greeson, Chris Lee and Chase Robinson give predictions on Georgia's road trip to Tennessee in an ESPN Game Day special. The contest will be shown at 3:30 Eastern on ESPN. Topics include: The line has swung wildly at FanDuel in the first 24 hours--Jay Greeson gives an explanation here that you may not have considered. Tennessee's offense has been the talk of the matchup. Quarterback Joey Aguilar averages 9.1 yards per attempt and hasn't thrown an interception in 59 tries vs. Syracuse and East Tennessee State, and wide receiver Chris Brazzell III has been one of the league's best receivers so far. The Vols' three-headed rushing attack of Star Thomas, DeSean Bishop and Peyton Lewis has gotten a ton of work. But Tennessee hasn't faced a defense with the type of NFL talent Georgia has. This will be a battle of who can hold the football longer. The Vols ran 100 plays vs. ETSU, while Georgia has out-snapped opponents 152-103 in two games. Georgia quarterback Gunnar Stockton was more mobile than expected in Week 1. But the offense has averaged a pedestrian six yards a play in two weeks, though the Bulldogs' tendency under coach Kirby Smart has been to play vanilla offense against overmatched opponents like the Bulldogs have seen in Marshall and Austin Peay. Georgia was without starting offensive linemen Earnest Greene III and Juan Gaston last week, and each is questionable for this game as of Monday. Georgia's not utilized talents like tight end Oscar Delp and receiver Noah Thomas early, but each could have a much bigger role this week. The Vols will need to watch talented receiver Zachariah Branch at all times, as he has game-breaking speed. Brian Edwards and Chris Lee of Southeastern 16 preview Florida's road trip to LSU, a game shown on ABC at 6:30 Central. Topics include: Florida's late-game discipline and game management cost the Gators in a home loss to South Florida. LSU turned in a ho-hum performance against Louisiana Tech in a trap spot between two games, but its defense continued to shine. Watch the line of scrimmage for both teams; the Gators have uncharacteristically given up 18 stops for loss, while LSU's rebuilt offensive line leads an offense that averaged just 4.9 yards per play last week. We'll see two of the country's best quarterbacks in Garrett Nussmeier and DJ Lagway. Both teams have tremendous athleticism at offensive skill positions between Caden Durham, Aaron Anderson, Barion Brown, Trey'Dez Green, Nic Anderson and others for LSU and Eugene Wilson III, Jadan Baugh, Dallas Wilson and others for the Gators. LSU's defense is much improved under Blake Baker as Whit Weeks and Harold Perkins Jr. are elite talents. The Gators desperately need to get Caleb Banks back. And more. Jay Greeson, Chris Lee and Chase Robinson preview Texas A&M's road trip to Notre Dame, a game seen at 6:30 Central on NBC. Topics include: Updates on the health of Texas A&M quarterback Marcel Reed and left tackle Trey Zuhn, both of whom were hurt in Saturday's Utah State win. Notre Dame lost a close game to Miami in Week 1 before a bye week. The Fighting Irish didn't use Jeremiyah Love as much as expected, and receiver Jaden Greenhouse didn't have a catch. The Fighting Irish had a new quarterback in CJ Carr, whose two interceptions were the difference in the opener. The Aggies have some explosive offensive weapons in LeVeon Moss, KC Concepcion and Mario Craver. A&M has struggled to stop the run the last two seasons. Vanderbilt and South Carolina kick off at 6:45 Central in Columbia, S.C., on Saturday night in a game shown on the SEC Network. Southeastern 16's Chris Lee and Brian Edwards make picks. Topics include: Vanderbilt's Diego Pavia has been the SEC's best quarterback, statistically-speaking, so far. The Commodores' offensive and defensive lines manhandled Virginia Tech in the second half last week, when Vandy scored the game's final 34 points in a 44-20 drubbing of the Hokies. South Carolina faced the same Virginia Tech team the week before and also won. The Gamecocks got a punt return touchdown in that one from Vicari Swain and then two more from Swain (one off a blocked punt) in last weekend's win over South Carolina State in a game that started late due to weather-related issues. Vanderbilt and SEC defensive player of the week Nick Rinaldi mounted a good pass rush last week, and the Gamecocks have struggled with pass protection. The Commodores lead the SEC in total defense, while the Gamecocks are last in total offense. However, South Carolina still has tons of talent; an offense led by La'Norris Sellers and Nyck Harbor seems due to play better while a running-back tandem of Oscar Adaway and Rashul Faison is a good one. The Gamecocks have dominated the series, winning 28-7 last season for their 16th-straight win over Vanderbilt.
