Today I am welcoming guest Sam Gwaz otherwise known as @thesamplan to the Food Freedom Lab to share her personal story of recovering from binge eating. Sam Gwazdauskas has a master's in nutrition and dietetics and many would describe her as a fitness enthusiast, self love advocate, and travel addict. Sam loves serving the world by coaching men and women to their best and healthiest bodies without sacrificing fun parts of life in the process. TRIGGER WARNING: Sam is going to be sharing information regarding her personal experience of struggling with an eating disorder, if hearing about disordered eating behaviors is not supportive to your journey, please skip this episode
Send us a Text Message. This week I am having a fan girl moment and chatting to the amazing Sam Gwaz, MS, CSCS, CISSN - or @thesamplan across all social medias.Sam is a nutrition coach, personal trainer, and most importantly self love and care advocate! Focusing on being (and teaching others) how to be their best, healthiest selves rather than simply the smallest. Having been told to lose weight as a child by eating less and moving more, the joy was stripped from movement and exercise simply became part of the equation to keep herself small and skinny.Until she decided that she was going to focus more on how she felt and was no longer going to play into the narrative that women need to be small and quiet.Sam often hangs out on instagram and loves to chat in her DMs, feeling so strongly about helping others who are stuck with a punishing mindset around movement or who need guidance. You can find out more about the programs she offers here. She is an absolute force and I am so proud of this conversation. Let me know what you think and if you enjoyed the podcast, leave me a review so I can keep making incredible content for YOU. Are you feeling stuck in the 'earn and burn' cycle with your exercise routine, or as summer approaches, are you feeling self-conscious about wearing a swimsuit on the beach? Maybe you just want to stop worrying so much about food or how your body looks. You are not alone and your body is NOT the problem Please reach out if you would like some support. We both have limited slots for Intuitive Eating Coaching, so get in touch with Christine or with Ela.AND if you enjoyed this episode, please share and follow the 'Find Your Strong podcast' and if you have time, write us a short review. It would honestly mean the world. Love to you all, Ela & Christine x
Coach Em & guest speaker, Sam Gwaz chat about their own journey of transforming from their leanest / smallest self to their HEALTHIEST & HAPPIEST self by rewiring their belief system of what HEALTHY truly means and UNLEARNING their old behavioral patterns. Throughout their journey, they learned how to reintroduce the lifestyle they love (going out to eat, enjoying treats, etc), what it takes to be a GOOD COACH, developed a better relationship with tracking food, with their body and THEMSELVES! Listen to their stories that TRANSFORMED them into the powerful coaches they are today, have a few laughs and along the way learn how to love yourself again
This week I am so excited to interview someone that I have been loving on Instagram for quite some time now. As I have been through my own journey of body acceptance, trying to find a balance between working out for the right reasons, and then eating in a healthful way, that doesn't focus on my body size, body fat percentage or how my muscles pop in photos, I stumbled across Sam. Sam Gwaz is a Virtual Coach with a B.S. Nutrition and M.S. in Kinesiology & Sports Nutrition. She has been putting great vibes out into the world and on Instagram in particular where she shows her tough workouts, how she hits her protein goals, but also how she actually eats foods that she loves and enjoys life. This week we pick her brain about her approach since this is really where I aspire to be! So, you've gained a following on social media… now what? The answer isn't always clear and direct. What we have come to realize is that Instagram and TikTok are no longer (or perhaps, never were) places where you had to appear perfect to gain a following or appeal to a large audience. It's easier than ever to create content and connect to people through social media, but not many people aren't talking about how to handle the immense growth and exposure that comes with being an influencer. Sam Gwaz is a health coach and fitness influencer who, since growing her Instagram platform by 200,000+ new followers in the last 3 years, has had to grow along with her social media presence in many ways. In this discussion, Sam and Chase talk about her growth and evolution as a health and fitness content creator on social media. They speak on the power of vulnerability in building confidence, Sam's current struggle as a content creator, and how to reevaluate your social media presence to ensure you're creating authentic content that's aligned with your audience. Then, Sam shares her hopes for the future of social media along with a few pieces of advice for aspiring content creators. Your size is the least important thing about you. Your size and/or shape does not determine the quality of your character, yet many of us confuse these two measures all the time. Coach and nutritionist Sam Gwaz (@thesamplan on Instagram) joins me to discuss how diet culture has affected how we see ourselves, food and fitness and ultimately our value. Starting with her experience having distorted body image, she shares practical ways we can begin to reframe the messages we've received and believed and how to feed our body and minds life-changing truth. In this episode, Sam and I talk about how tracking your food intake can be both healthy and harmful, what kinds of goals you should have for your health, all the other "losses" that come from constantly chasing weight loss and resources to help you make needed shifts to find freedom. Because "happiness, fulfillment and abundance don't come from the scale". So often we focus on our "health and fitness" goals but we leave out the importance of our "mental" health. In this episode, I had the privilege of sitting down with my good friend Sam Gwaz and chatting about her health and fitness journey but diving into her mental health journey which is when all the pieces actually started coming together for her.
