Rom-Com Month continues as we discuss the quintessential Sandler & Barrymore movie
Angle, Static Shock, Bob Ross and TNG come to a close, X-Men returns to form, the Babadook continues to haunt us, happiness and adventure return to the modern movie western just as Brisco County Jr says bids adieu, Aladdin and Shrek get sequels, and we celebrate the final piece of the Sandler/Barrymore trilogy.
To celebrate Valentine's Day we picked out one of our favorite Rom-Coms that's celebrating an anniversary, the Sandler/Barrymore classic, 50 First Dates. To talk about it with us, we brought back Rob's much better half, Kelsey Lundquist. She's the best. Hope you all have a good Valentine's Day and enjoy!
Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore grace our screens yet again for 50 First Dates (2004). Since Episode 9, we've awaited the great debate about Sandler/Barrymore romcoms and which is better! In this episode... we find out. We talk about our simple human adult pleasures, Rob Schneider (oop! jumpscare!), hair jealousy, what we would do if we were like Lucy, animal actors killing it, missing french fries, and brown-outs. Alright the time has come to officially review an Adam Sandler movie on STL. It's not the first time Sandler he has made an appearance, but it's the first starring role of Sandler to be talked about on the show and most of all it's the first of the Sandler/Barrymore trilogy. In many folks eyes, this is the greatest Sandler movie for many reasons. How does it hold up? What's my history with the film and Sandler's filmography? Well listen and find out. Plus video game news and more in episode 162!
"Blended" shows remnants of the Sandler/Barrymore spark, but it seems the duo's charm has just ran out.
Have we been here before? Because Rafer and Kristen are feeling some serious deja vu. It's all due to the release of the third Sandler-Barrymore romantic comedy and the seventh film in the X-Men franchise. "Blended" brings Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore back together as a mis-matched pair of single parents, on a joint vacation in South Africa. "X-Men: Days of Future Past" brings the X-Men back to 1973, to stop the war on mutants before it starts. Giving Rafer and Kristen some behind-the-scenes insights into the making of "X-Men: Days of Future Past" is John Ottman, who's both the composer and the editor of the film. A very special thanks to Jay Cowit, who performed and wrote music on this week's podcast.
