Welcome to the 12 Days of Mindful Eating Series! Each week I am dropping three episodes in the month of December to help you eat mindfully and feel your best. This season is all about gratitude, love, kindness and giving - yet, we do that with the people around us, and not so much ourselves. But when we change the way we think, we change the way we eat (because it's not about the food)! In this episode, I'm talking about why it's so important to recognize your thoughts. We are on autopilot with the way we think (and how we go about life), and the majority of our thoughts are useless and repetitive. So lets talk about what happens when we change that. What can you expect from this podcast & future episodes?Bite-size episodes that are binge-able (no pun intended)!Tips to help you stop binging & overeatingA friendly face, hint of sarcasm & touch of tough love to help you be normal around food.Follow me for daily tips on Instagram! @kellylwellnessWant to take the next step to stop binging, overeating, and finally be in control around food? Our special guest for our final episode of the year is our good friend Faris Yakob. He and his wife Rosie are the force behind the consultancy Genius Steals, a nomadic strategic and creative consultancy. Faris is also the author of a book about how advertising works through the lens of the concept of attention. It's called, Paid Attention which is now in its 2nd edition. He has been at a variety of media and advertising agencies throughout his career, including Naked Communications, McCann Erickson, MDC Partners and helped to found many others. He writes for Campaign, Fast Company, Contagious and other publications. And he thinks deeply about the state of the ad world - how its changing, what it does, how it does it, and what it means for us all. He sat down to talk to us before Thanksgiving about how media planning works, how brands and advertisers think about audiences, and how the stories we tell about youth cultures have been recycled and subtly upgraded since the invention of the teenager, to fulfill the hopes and dreams of not only the corporations who want them to buy stuff, but just as importantly, the people who make advertising and want to believe it is capable of doing something good in the world. This is our last episode of the year - we wish you a very happy and relaxing holiday season, and send our best wishes for the New Year. We start out with a sad follow up as yet another young organizer with the South African Shack Dwellers' Movement has been brutally murdered. There's no easy way to transition out of that so we move into our labor news, as the MLBPA is finally organizing the exploited minor league players. Also this week, another huge win for the independent union movement in Mexico at another auto parts manufacturing plant. Moving to a story out of Canada, workers at a construction firm have been threatened with jail for refusing “voluntary” overtime. The NLRB ruled against Tesla this week, saying they cannot bar workers from wearing clothing with union insignia on it. Nursing home workers struck in unison across multiple employers a few weeks ago in a bid to address sector wide problems. Another major healthcare workers struggle is coming up next week, when 15,000 nurses in Minnesota will hit the picket lines. Finally, the NLRB ruled against Amazon's frivolous challenges to the ALU's win at JFK8, and for Labor Day the ALU and Starbucks Workers United came together for a massive rally in NYC to demand both companies recognize the unions and bargain in good faith.
