They are here to present an accessible, progressive rock sound to Plant Earth! They released their second full-length album, 'The Last Ship' on October 31st, 2025. Building on the foundations of their critically acclaimed self-titled debut and the darker, electronic explorations of Parallels V.1, the new album pushes boundaries further than ever before. A native of Wroclaw, Poland, Martin started his career as an international sportswriter, broadcaster and author, spending two decades covering NBA games and publishing two acclaimed books on basketball. It was during this time that he met the late Kobe Bryant, who encouraged him to follow his passion for performance. Inspired by that advice, and an obsession with classic films, James Bond thrillers, and the work of Robert De Niro, Martin began training as an actor in his 30s, studying intensively at the Stella Adler Theater and the Beverly Hills Playhouse. He officially made the leap to full-time acting in his early 40s and quickly built an impressive resume, appearing in hit series like Stranger Things (Netflix), The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (Amazon), Better Call Saul (AMC), and Young Sheldon (CBS). His film credits include James Gunn's reboot of Superman, Amsterdam, The Gray Man, The Hunt, and Red Notice, where he played a prison tower sharpshooter. He's also recognized for his villainous turn as Lt. Nikolai Zybulski in TNT's post-apocalyptic series The Last Ship. In addition to his on-camera work, Martin does significant voice work for computer and video games, most notably as fan-favorite “Krueger” in the Call of Duty video game franchise. A lifelong rock music fan, he once fronted a heavy metal band in Poland called Army of Darkness. He's also an avid art collector, with a particular interest in South American contemporary art and 18th-century English portraiture.   want to watch: YouTube Meisterkhan Pod (Please Subscribe)

Award-winning and prolific Broadway producer Jeffrey Seller has finally made it to the podcast! Jeffery has produced Rent, Avenue Q, In the Heights, Hamilton, The Cher Show, and revivals of West Side Story and Sweeney Todd, just to name a few. Altogether his shows (currently) have 22 Tony Awards, and he's the only Broadway producer to have put up two Pulitzer Prize winning musicals: Hamilton and Rent. Jeffrey is the author of Theater Kid: A Broadway Memoir, which the New York Times describes as “a combination coming-of-age and rags-to-riches story that is unsparing in its description of his colorfully challenged-and-challenging father, unabashed in its description of his sexual awakening, and packed with behind-the-scenes detail, especially about the birth of Rent.” Not to mention the audiobook is voiced by a stellar cast of Broadway voices, and talking about them gives Jeffrey an idea *in real time *during our recording.  In our hour-long conversation, Jeffrey expands on his experience producing Rent with Jonathan Larson, including an emotional retelling of what it was like working on the show after Jonathan's tragic and unexpected death. He also discusses working with Lin-Manuel Miranda on In the Heights and Hamilton, expounds on Hamilton's social and political responsibilities (rejecting the current administration's hostile takeover of The Kennedy Center, for example), discusses ways around Broadway's current ticket prices, and candidly opens up about Andrew Lippa's The Wild Party and The Last Ship with Sting in never-before-heard specificity.  Plus, Baz Luhrmann's La Boheme, the power of writing a letter to get what you want, and how when it  comes down to it... it's all about making shows with your friends.  Jeffrey Seller on Instagram JeffreySeller.com /// Gillian's Website The Hamilcast on Twitter The Hamilcast on Instagram Join the Patreon Peeps

For a 30-year period, from the 1880s to World War I, 2.5 million Jews, fleeing discrimination and violence in their homelands of Eastern Europe, arrived in the United States. Many sailed on steamships from Hamburg. This mass exodus was facilitated by three businessmen whose involvement in the Jewish-American narrative has been largely forgotten: Jacob Schiff, the managing partner of the investment bank Kuhn, Loeb & Company, who used his immense wealth to help Jews to leave Europe; Albert Ballin, managing director of the Hamburg-American Line, who created a transportation network of trains and steamships to carry them across continents and an ocean; and J. P. Morgan, mastermind of the International Mercantile Marine (I.M.M.) trust, who tried to monopolize the lucrative steamship business. Though their goals were often contradictory, together they made possible a migration that spared millions from persecution.Today's guest is Steven Ujifusa, author of “The Last Ships From Hamburg: Business, Rivalry, and The Race to Save Russia's Jews on the Eve of World War I.” His great-grandparents were part of this immigrant group, and he describes how they moved from the shtetls of Russia and the ports of Hamburg to the mansions of New York's Upper East Side. We explore how debates on immigration have changed from the 1880s to today, and what it takes for the interests of billionaires and the interests of society's poorest members to align. This show is part of the Spreaker Prime Network, if you are interested in advertising on this podcast, contact us at https://www.spreaker.com/show/3101278/advertisement

Today's episode is the second half of my recent discussion with author Grace Barnes whose fascinating new book it titled: National Identity and the British Musical — From Blood Brothers to Cinderella. In this conversation we explore how British national identity has, and often has not, been dramatized in British musical theater, and among the topics that we discuss are the musicals Blood Brothers, Mama Mia, Billy Elliott, The Last Ship, Bend It Like Beckham, and the current smash hit SIX, and, of course, the tremendous impact and domination that the mega musicals of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Cameron Mackintosh have had on the British musical theatre industry.  We also discuss why UK critics so seldom give any serious consideration to musical theater , the near complete absence of female voices in British musical theater, and the future of British musicals. Grace Barnes is an independent scholar, director, and playwright who has worked as an associate and resident director on productions of My Fair Lady, Fiddler On the Roof, Into The Woods, Sunset Blvd, The Witches of Eastwick, Martin Guerre, West Side Story, and Guys And Dolls in the United Kingdom, Germany, and Australia. She has a PhD from the University of Technology in Sydney and her previous book is titled Her Turn Onstage — The Role Of Women In Musical Theatre.
