This week found me severely under the weather instead of enjoying SEEK 2024. Unable to record a new show, I opted to revisit my conversation from this time last year with Fr. Sean Hagerty, SJ. Fr. Hagerty is the vocation promoter for the USA East Province of the Society of Jesus. That means that Fr. Hagerty is responsible for accompanying men who are discerning a life in the Society of Jesus. He joined the Jesuits in 2012, after having served in the U.S. army. He has ministered in prisons, campus ministries, and hospitals, and conducted research into just war, moral injury, and the reintegration of soldiers into the Catholic community. He was just ordained a priest in 2022. We spoke with him about the process of discernment live from St. Louis at SEEK23 put on by FOCUS.
Sean Haggerty has made it a life mission to protect. He has put everything on the line serving our country and is committed to doing the same for San Diego's iconic craft beer industry. Protector is San Diego's first certified organic brewery (no easy feat) and on this episode, Sean explains why taking the extra steps and the extra risk are non-negotiables. We don't just chat beer either; Sean and Jeff have an insightful conversation about entrepreneurship and mental resiliency. Tune in to find out why Protector is the next tasting room on your hit list.

Armed & Ready host Jason Wood sits down with the owner of Protector Brewery, Sean Haggerty, to discuss his military career and how he started his career in the beer brewing industry.
The Gearhead Consultancy gathered at Protector Brewery to chat with Mike from San Diego County Gun Owners about the state of your freedoms in the third-world kleptobureaucracy of Kalifornistan, and Protector Team 1 leader Sean Haggerty joined in, #becauseinteresting. The episode revolves around gun laws in San Diego, SoCal and worldwide, including updates on your access to a CCW in San Diego, and how to get them from Sheriff Bill "Ruby Ridge" Gore, SDCGO's CCW meetings, the "Week of Freedom" and how generous Americans nationwide helped 700,000 CA residents buy more than 2,000,000 10+round magazines. Mike also shines some sunlight on the assault politicians in Sacramento, who seek to drive their citizens into the desert by banning gun shows, and the legal black hole caused by politicians using red-flag laws for political gain. Or Cain. Both. There's also a look at 2A-thinking around the world as Europe's slow sinking under the weight of invaders from the lawless Middle East drives citizens of European nations to clamor for 2A-style rights, as well as new castle-style protections in Indiana, Florida, Italy, Hungary, and the Czech Republic. The Garage Hour also reflects on memories of the Roof Koreans, and how the Second Amendment kept a lot of people safe during the LA riots. Yeah, which riots, right? Freakin' Los Angeles. Then there was yummy Protector beer.

In the film, ‘Beast of Burden,’ Sean Haggerty only has an hour to deliver his illegal cargo. An hour to reassure a drug cartel, a hitman, and the DEA that nothing is wrong. An hour to make sure his wife survives. And he must do it all from the cockpit of his Cessna. Swedish director Jesper Ganslandt talks about his previous films, ‘The Ape’ and ‘Jimmie.’ In addition, he describes his influences for ‘Beast of Burden,’ the importance of a score like ‘Sicario,’ big concepts in a single location, how to properly withhold information from an audience for tension, and how to create devices for uncertainty and suspense. In today’s episode, I continue to explore the minds and experiences of the entrepreneurs that make the San Diego community so interesting and energetic. Our guest, Sean Haggerty, is a retired Navy SEAL and the founder of Protector Brewery. We start by discussing the challenging journey that Sean endured to earn entry into the Navy SEALs. Sean then shares how service and his entrepreneurial spirit intersected - he actually brewed his first beer while located in a combat zone! While his first batch wasn’t the best (it was brewed in a Gatorade container), Sean got hooked on the process and knew that’s what he wanted to do when he left the service.
