IS THIS ACTUALLY THE BEST ONE IN THE TRILOGY?! Men in Black 3 (2012) Full Movie Reaction & Review with Greg Alba and Jackie Bonsignore! Men in Black 3 Full Movie Uncut Watch Along: / thereelrejects -Check out the DC Studios Showcase Podcast here https://app.magellan.ai/listen_links/... Support The Channel By Getting Some REEL REJECTS Apparel! https://www.rejectnationshop.com/ In this comprehensive movie review and reaction, Greg and Jackie conquer a wild rewatch filled with high-stakes timeline shifts and surprisingly deep character growth. We unpack the incredible comedic and dramatic performances of the legendary stellar cast, featuring Will Smith (Bad Boys, The Pursuit of Happyness) returning with his classic charisma as Agent J, Tommy Lee Jones (The Fugitive, No Country for Old Men) as the stoic, world-weary Agent K, and Josh Brolin (Avengers: Endgame, Sicario) delivering an absolutely flawless, mind-blowing impression as the younger 1969 variant of Agent K. We also break down the phenomenal presence of the main villains and supporting players, including Jemaine Clement (Flight of the Concords, What We Do in the Shadows) as the hyper-lethal, moon-escaping Boris the Animal, Emma Thompson (Sense and Sensibility, Love Actually) as Agent O, Bill Hader (Barry, Superbad) in a brilliant undercover cameo as Andy Warhol / Agent W, Michael Stuhlbarg (A Serious Man, Call Me by Your Name) as the sweet, fifth-dimensional being Griffin, and Mike Colter (Luke Cage, Evil) in a devastatingly emotional role. Our hosts react to every iconic visual gag, massive effects sequence, and tragic narrative beat this film has to offer. We break down the disgusting opening lunar prison breakout involving an alien-drenched cake, the dark comedy of K's shockingly brief funeral eulogy for Zed, and the intense Chinese restaurant shootout featuring a giant, aggressive alien fish brawl. We unpack the sheer terrifying thrill of the Chrysler Building time jump that triggers temporal fracture headaches cured by chocolate milk, the investigative logic of eating pie to unlock the secrets of the universe, and the massive Apollo 11 launchpad climax where the past and future completely collide. Greg and Jackie were both completely blown away by how much extra heart, emotional stakes, and cohesive storytelling this sequel brings compared to Men in Black 2, concluding with a beautifully tragic ending twist that fundamentally redefines the entire bond between J and K. Sicario presented us with a few surprises this week. Valerie thought she'd be analysing a hero, but Kate is an underdog. She's not presented as a typical underdog, nor does she have the typical underdog resolution. On my end, the logline for the movie misses some essential information. I try a new method of creating a premise that clarifies the conflict and story climax, and it delivers a surprising discovery about the real antagonist. -M Submit your query letter and first 10 pages writing sample at storynerd.ca.For access to writing templates and worksheets, and more than 70 hours of training (all for free), subscribe to Valerie's Inner Circle. To learn to read like a writer, visit Melanie's website. To subscribe to Kat's Keynotes (Substack), click here.Watch us on YouTube!

This episode is brought to you by Hulu. Stream PRISON BREAK on Hulu (U.S.) and Disney+ (Internationally). Sarah and Paul are joined this episode by Mango, Sarah's Bearded Dragon. They emphasize the unusually large scale and expense of the production as the season winds into its final episodes, including extensive coastal locations, helicopter photography, ocean and boat sequences, and a long TV car chase. They analyze Michael's plan as accounting for human nature—especially T-Bag and Bellick's predictable selfishness and weakness—and praise the payoff of Whistler's “injured ankle” reveal. They connect the season's prominent torture imagery (battery/electrodes, waterboarding, later torture references) to the 2008 war-on-terror era and reflect on audience reactions to violence. They also identify an actor from Sicario, worry most about McGrady's fate, answer fan questions about directing episodes and hypothetical story directions. We don't often cover classical or neoclassical music, as it's a wee bit out of our wheelhouse. But that doesn't mean we don't enjoy it—often, our entry into that world is via film soundtracks. Jóhann Jóhannsson is a perfect example, having scored some of the most iconic films of the last 20 years. However, that's only part of the story. Jóhannsson also released a series of acclaimed solo records; this week, we're focusing almost exclusively on that solo output, while also providing an account of his life, his key cinematic works, and his tragic passing in 2018.We chart his path from early days in indie bands to the cross-genre think tank Kitchen Motors, and his meteoric rise as a composer for films like Prisoners, Sicario, Arrival, and The Theory of Everything (for which he won a Golden Globe and earned an Oscar nomination). From there, we take a closer look at his solo discography, including IBM 1401: A User's Manual (built from his father's vintage computer recordings), Fordlandia, and the short-film soundtrack And in the Endless Pause There Came the Sound of Bees, as well as posthumous releases like Gold Dust.We cap things off with a discussion regarding his death and the question of whether the pressures of Hollywood played a role in his demise, before focusing exclusively on his 2016 masterpiece, Orphée.00:00 Intro03:56 Meet Jóhann Jóhannsson07:47 Early Life And Indie Bands09:29 Labels And Influences12:55 Chris' Hildur Guðnadóttir Facebook Scam Story17:44 Solo Albums Breakdown22:32 IBM 1401 Masterpiece25:18 Fordlandia And Later Works29:10 Film Breakthrough And Awards32:33 Blade Runner Score Rejected35:11 Blade Runner Score Shakeup36:13 Zimmer Versus Vangelis38:40 Jóhann Interview Clues40:11 Who Made The Call41:43 mother! We also preview upcoming releases and spin the wheel to decide our selections for the month of April. Listen now!
Macht's gut. Read Drug Cartels Do Not Exist here: https://a.co/d/00YPWyr7 Through political and cultural analysis of representations of the so-called war on drugs, Oswaldo Zavala makes the case that the very terms we use to describe drug traffickers are a constructed subterfuge for the real narcos: politicians, corporations, and the military. Immigration has endured as a prevailing news topic, but it is a fixture of modern society in the neoliberal era; the future will be one of exile brought on by state violence and the plundering of our natural resources to sate capitalist greed. Yet the realities of violence in Mexico and along the border are obscured by the books, films, and TV series we consume. In truth, works like Sicario, The Queen of the South, and Narcos hide Mexico's political realities. Alongside these examples, Zavala discusses Charles Bowden, 2666 by Roberto Bolaño, and other important Latin American writers as examples of those who do capture the realities of the drug war.
Denis Villeneuve's film 'Sicario' remains a vital and prescient glimpse into extra-judicial Governmental activities and the blurring of lines on both sides of the drug war, all brilliantly rendered by top-notch cinematography from Roger Deakins and a host of career-best performances from actors like Emily Blunt, James Brolin, Daniel Kaluuya, and, especially, Benicio Del Toro. Harrowing, procedural, understated, and complicated, the film unfolds with confidence in the journey it takes viewers on, with a refreshing lack of hand-holding and over-explanation.

We've got a massive episode for you this week! From high-stakes heists to high-tide sci-fi, we're covering the big hits hitting your living rooms right now.First up, we're locking in with Dave Bautista in the gritty action-thriller Trap House. This isn't your average "tough guy" flick—Bautista plays a DEA agent caught in a deadly game of cat-and-mouse where one of the thieves is actually... his own rebellious teenager?! We discuss if this "Sicario meets The Breakfast Club" vibe actually works.Fun Flix Fact: This film reunites Dave Bautista with director Michael Dowse. The duo previously worked together on the 2019 buddy-comedy Stuber! It's safe to say they've traded the Uber for some much heavier artillery this time around. Then, we're heading over to Netflix for the mind-bending Korean sci-fi disaster film, The Great Flood. Starring Kim Da-mi (Itaewon Class) and Park Hae-soo (Squid Game), it starts as a survival story in a sinking apartment building but quickly morphs into a complex sci-fi mystery involving AI and time loops. Did it leave us drowning in confusion or riding the wave?Fun Flix Fact: To prepare for the intense submerged sequences, the cast spent months undergoing professional scuba diving and underwater breath-control training. Most of those "water-log" scenes are the real deal! For this week's Anniversary Corner, we're looking back 25 years (yep, feel old yet?) at the cult classic drug-trafficking biopic Blow, starring Johnny Depp. Since Trap House deals with the fallout of the cartel world, it's the perfect time to revisit the rise and fall of George Jung.Fun Flix Fact: Rachel Griffiths, who plays Johnny Depp's mother in the film, is actually five years younger than he is in real life! Talk about some incredible work from the hair and makeup department. And if that's not enough entertainment for you, we've even thrown in new trailers to watch and what you can catch on streaming. Happy New Year and welcome to Fan Jan! Every January here on @wedrinkandwewatchthings, we hand the steering wheel over to you and spend the month covering the films you've been begging us to talk about. We're kicking off the year with a heavy hitter that's been high on the request list: Denis Villeneuve's 2015 desert-noir masterpiece, "Sicario." Pour yourself something strong - maybe our Night Vision Negroni - because we're headed to the border for a thriller that refuses to give easy answers. This week, we explore the moral vacuum of the drug war through the eyes of Emily Blunt's Kate Macer, an idealistic agent who quickly realizes she's a pawn in a much darker game. We examine the terrifying, quiet intensity of Benicio del Toro's Alejandro and the casual, "flip-flop" cynicism of Josh Brolin's Matt Graver. Beyond the acting, we marvel at Roger Deakins' breathtaking cinematography - specifically those haunting sunset silhouettes and the night-vision tension of the tunnel raid - and delve into Jóhann Jóhannsson's pulse-pounding score that makes every frame feel like a ticking time bomb.If you love thrillers that prioritize atmosphere over easy victories, or if you've been one of the many fans asking us to finally tackle Taylor Sheridan's "Neo-Western" world, this is the episode for you. We're mixing our respect for the film's brutal precision with our usual casual banter, making this a high-octane start to our fan-led month. Read Ralph's review here: https://thelastdvd.com/land-of-wolves/ It's become a joke, a rather well-worn one by now, to say that Donald Trump has been getting ideas about fighting the war on drugs from Denis Villeneuve's film Sicario. That film, and its vastly inferior sequel, depicted clandestine paramilitary operations that go beyond usual police measures used by the US government agencies against the Mexican drug cartels in the border region. In the real world, the American state has accelerated the para-militarisation of the war against the drug cartels. Earlier this year, Trump ordered the State Department to declare the Latin American drug cartels as “terrorist organisations.” In August, Trump signed a directive permitting the Pentagon to use military force against those cartels. Mexico is the target most people will have in mind. But it also included Venezuela, Guatemala, and El-Salvador.
