SummaryBrian Sauvé shares his journey into ministry and the process of church planting and reformation. He discusses the challenges and lessons learned along the way, including the adoption of Reformed theology and the impact of 2020 on the church. Brian emphasizes the importance of humility, patience, and pastoral care in leading a church through change. He also explains the reasons for not joining a denomination and the future plans for his church. In this conversation, Brian Sauvé discusses the importance of embracing differences and working together in the church. He also emphasizes the significance of emphasizing masculinity and femininity in the church and why it is necessary to talk about these topics. Brian shares his approach to dealing with cancellation attempts and the purpose behind speaking truth and mocking idols. He concludes by providing information on where to follow him and stay connected with his work.TakeawaysHumility and patience are essential when leading a church through change.Building a like-minded congregation requires transparency, open dialogue, and pastoral care. Not every church is suitable for reformation, and it may be necessary to leave and find a more aligned community.Joining a denomination should be carefully considered, taking into account theological alignment and cultural compatibility. The process of church reformation requires a long-term vision and a commitment to shepherding the congregation. Embrace differences and work together in the church, even when there are disagreements. It is important to emphasize masculinity and femininity in the church and address cultural issues related to gender. When facing cancellation attempts, stay faithful to the truth and trust in God's blessing.Speaking truth and mocking idols is a pastoral duty to protect the people of God from cultural folly.Chapters00:00Introduction and Pronunciation of Last Name01:59Getting into Ministry03:00Church Planting and Reformation06:23Influence of Mark Driscoll07:51Transition to Lead Pastor09:19Adoption of Reformed Theology15:34Approach to Sermon Preparation20:08Impact of 2020 on the Church24:45Lessons Learned in Church Reformation31:28Reasons for Not Joining a Denomination41:38Embracing Differences and Working Together45:30The Importance of Emphasizing Masculinity56:11Dealing with Cancellation Attempts01:06:11The Purpose of Speaking Truth and Mocking Idols01:08:24Where to Follow Brian SauvéSupport the show!! - https://www.patreon.com/chasedavisBrian's Website - https://www.briansauve.com/Brian's Twitter - https://twitter.com/Brian_SauveNew Christendom Press - https://www.newchristendompress.com/King's Hall Podcast - https://www.kingshall.org/Refuge Church - https://www.refugeutah.org/Support the showSign up for the Patreon - https://www.patreon.com/chasedavisFollow Full Proof Theology on Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/fullprooftheology/Follow Full Proof Theology on Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/fullprooftheology/

Ryan shares that he initially had no desire to work in ministry until the word of God became alive and real to him while attending a Christian college in his twenties. After some prompting by an admissions counselor, Ryan sought out a few youth pastor positions and was hired on at a church in Newberg, Oregon where he grew to care deeply for the students and people of the church. Ryan’s wife Kate speaks about her role in supporting her husband through this growth as well as acknowledging the way God has grown her to be used for his glory. Credits:This is Sojourn Network is a production of The Narrativo Groupwww.narrativogroup.comProduced by Mike CosperEdited and Mixed by TJ HesterMusic by Sojourn Music

On this episode of This is Sojourn Network, Nick Bogardus talks with Miles and Pam Rohde of Redemption Spokane. Miles led a full career in the Air Force before he transitioned to ministry. You’ll hear about his journey into ministry and the way the Lord unified he and his wife Pam along the way. The first church Miles pastored on his own left he and Pam isolated in the small rural community of Marshall, MN. Miles speaks about the three years he and Pam spent there and how they learned the value and need of having support around them. While there, Miles was nominated to The Center of Excellence in Congregational Leadership and he talks about the transformative experience of finding mentorship and support from another pastor who recognized how cynical he had become. This relationship would lead to a robust season of renewal for both he and Pam over a period of 8 years after Miles was offered a youth pastoring position in Willmar, MN. Miles and Pam would leave Willmar for a position at Mars Hill after those 8 years. After arriving in Seattle though, Miles learned that he would be entering into a lead pastor residency program with the intention of planting a church in Spokane, WA. Miles began to embrace the culture of non-stop work at Mars Hill which carried over into his church plant and eventually led to debilitating panic attacks for him. Pam graciously shares how she felt the Lord was using her to speak into her husband’s health and the wisdom they’ve gained in this experience together. On this episode Nick Bogardus talks to Jeremy and Jessie Linneman of Trinity Church in Columbia, MO. Jeremy discusses navigating the call to vocational ministry, the affirmation and clarification in it for he and Jessie and the momentum and energy of being a part of a church exploding at the seams. Jeremy began as an intern for Sojourn Community Church in Louisville, KY and helped to launch its J-town campus and shortly thereafter became an Executive Pastor for the East Campus location. Jeremy describes this season as his most fulfilling season in ministry but also the most difficult for him physically and emotionally. This season of working a 60-70 hour work week eventually lead to illness, chronic pain and depression for him over the course of 3-4 years. Jeremy acknowledges that his drive to succeed and his propensity to be a high achiever made it difficult for him to find respite and not keep working but his body refused to keep going at this pace. It took addressing these underlying issues in his heart as well as some deep grief he’d experienced as a child to “reframe his walk with the Lord”. Jeremy and Jessie share some practical wisdom that has helped to sustain them in ministry and has helped them to have healthy boundaries. Download the sermon guide at fouroakschurch.com/guide.Hope in the Face of DeathPastor Dustin CrawfordSunday, December 27, 2015Before I get started I just want to share a little bit about our church plant and just say thank you. Without your sacrifice and generosity giving to Sojourn Network, we wouldn't be able to do what we do. We wouldn't be able to share the gospel, so I just want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. We are overwhelmed by your generosity for us and for the other 14 church plants. I'd like to share a story so that you can rejoice with us because when you give, you are going with us. The salvations that we see and the reconciliations that we see in marriages and all the beautiful things that we see because of the power of the gospel, you are participating with us and so I'd like to share a short story. There was a guy named Jonathan Walker, we call him Waka, and if you have ever seen our website, he is the guy who does all the photography for our website. He is a nonbeliever. He is one of the first guys I met once we moved to Atlanta. He is on Instagram and somehow someway, me and my wife went to a Braves game and he saw a post that my wife made about me wearing all my Braves gear. He sent me a message that said, “I just don't understand the tattoos. I don't understand that you guys want to move to the inner city and work among the down and out and the hurting and the poor and you are a pastor. I don't get that so I'd love to meet up for coffee if you have time.” I was like “I've got plenty of time!” So we got to coffee and over coffee he shares his story. Over the course of about 3 years ago he was in the process of committing suicide. He was getting ready to walk out into the MARTA, which was the train system. His sister called him twice and since she called him twice he figured it must have been an emergency. So he answered the phone and didn't take his life by the grace of God. Over the course of the next two months or three months as we are journeying with him and sharing the gospel with him, sharing our life with him he starts to wonder what the hope is that we have that he feels like he is just missing.  He's got this deep hole within his heart that he is just longing to feel healed, to feel satisfaction, to feel joy in the midst of sorrow and he is thinking “What is it?”So he pulls me aside after community group one night and he is wrestling saying “You are answering questions that I have. No one has ever done that. You are talking about things that I really struggle with and you don't say it in a way where you are just blowing me off and saying ‘believe this', you are sharing your doubts and your hurts and you are fighting to trust the Lord. What is this? What do I need to do to have my sins forgiven?” So I got to share the gospel with him and now we are walking with him. We don't know if he is saved yet, but he is right there and your giving makes things like this possible. So we can rejoice with this, and without your giving, Waka would have never heard the gospel, so I thank you and I praise you for Christ in you so thank you so much.Today we are going to be in 2 Corinthians 5:1-10. This is a meaty passage, a weighty ...
