His Youtube channel started in 2008 but switched over to Pinhoti Project in 2018 becoming one the most popular turkey hunting channels on Youtube. We are a little over a week into the Mississippi turkey season but it feels like we have been hunting for a month. We have been far from short on action so we have a pile of stories to tell. Dave Owens' hunt on the Mississippi River, struggling to find gobbles, turkeys acting like its winter, Jordan's wife's first Mississippi Gobbler, and Lake going round and round with public land gobbler in a pine thicket. This episode has it all. Check it out.

This week we are joined by one of our favorite guests, Dave Owens of the Pinhoti Project. Dave is a renowned traveling turkey hunter who obsesses over the details and is one of our favorite guests. We decided to ask him questions that he rarely gets asked in an effort to learn something new. How does he prepare for weeks of reduced sleep? He explains his filming set up to help listeners film their own hunts, we talk woodsmanship skills and how they paint a picture of what's occurring, how he keeps up with the many different turkeys he is aware of, how environmental factors affect the sound of a gobble, how he anticipates what's going to happen—allowing him to prepare—and how there is something therapeutic about the spring woods. It's a good one. Listen, Learn and Enjoy. On this episode we talk with Dave Owens of the Pinhoti Project about his approach to turkey hunting, traveling, and trends. We don't get too deep into techniques, because each situation is different with turkeys. But we do talk about some of the similarities that are found in turkey hunters. Me, Chris, and Hunter took Dave on a trap line with us before we recorded, so he had gotten to see Hunter in his element trapping coyotes, bobcats, and beavers. He also got to see Chris in his, observing foodplots, getting sick about ruts in roads, and telling stories about white tigers and carnivals. We hope you enjoy, Dave Owens is a class act. This week we have one of our favorite guests talk deer hunting with us. Dave Owens of the Pinhoti Project is a rabid turkey hunter, and each fall he manages to wrap a tag around an old bruiser whitetail. Is he equally obsessed? What deer sign does he key in on? What are his favorite setups? Is it feed such as acorns or persimmons? Trails? Near bedding? We ask the question, what does he think makes him such a successful hunter? He's a humble guy but we pull out some qualities that we all can apply to our own hunts. It's a good discussion – one that a deer hunter will certainly enjoy. Does he get revenge with a trivia question? Listen, Learn and Enjoy. So what exactly is an RPM meet and where's the best place to find a comprehensive listing of all the events in the coming year? That's easy, just head over to Eric Hansmann's blog to find a listing of all the meets during the calendar year. Dave Owens is the head poo bah of a Northeast Railroad Prototype Modelers Meet, running this event with his crew for two decades. So it seemed like a good idea to bring these two gentlemen together to talk about Eric's event calendar and all things RPM. So get yourself a big bowl of shredded calendars, a tall cool glass of New England stream water and enjoy!!

It's time for another star studded, All-Star Variety Hour with some of the biggest names in the hobby, and some of the nicest people you'll ever meet. John Sacerdote the Director of the big Springfield Model Train Show held each year at the end of January and YouTube sensation Ron Marsh, who's channel Ron's Trains N' Things continues to grow each week, are both interesting enough to for their own one-on one interview. We had meant to include John‘s interview in one of our previous Springfield Reports, but got distracted by Ron Marsh who kept pestering us about stopping by the ModelersLife Studios for another interview. Dave Owens gives us some great insight into what goes on behind the scenes at Springfield while Ron Marsh talks about what it takes to create an awesome YouTube channel. It's a great podcast and one we're sure you'll enjoy!!

It's that time of year again, the Amherst Railway Society's Railroad Hobby Show is about to open and once again we got John Sacerdote the show director for over two decades stops by the studio to tell us all about. From the Lego layout, 1:87 Scale Vehicle club, hundreds of vendors, Rapido Trains, who's buried in the levy, chalking out the tables and getting the coveted parking pass, it's all right here. Every year several charities benefit from some of the monies collected from admissions and table rentals, it's the largest model railroad show in North America. Grab yourself a big bowl of shredded vendors list and a tall cool glass of left-over cola and enjoy!!

Welcome to the Limbhanger podcast! Turkey season is over and we don't want to talk about it. But this is a podcast, so we have to talk about it. The redeeming news is that Dave Owens of the Pinhoti Project is joining us this week. It's hard to give Dave an introduction. Do you talk about his unmatched skillset of being a hunter? Or should you talk about his championship calling? He's really just one of the most genuine, down to earth people in the hunting industry, and it's an honor to have him joining us. We're getting in the weeds this week as Dave gives us some insight into the things he's taken note of in his career as a travelling turkey hunter. Each spring, Dave travels across the country hunting turkeys. So who better to talk to about turkey populations, regulations that might need adjusted, or new regulations that might actually be working well? It seems to be commonplace for hunters to talk about a rise in pressure. Covid seemingly opened the flood gates and some people believe the spring turkey woods will never be the same due to increased pressure. What does Dave think about this? Well, rest assured you're going to hear this and a lot more this week. Thanks for listening! Check out the Sportsmen's Empire Podcast Network for more relevant, outdoor content! The Northeast/New England RPM Meet has been growing and growing over the past twenty years until it became one of the go to meets in the country. RPM Meets are all over the country and they truly began as simply someplace to display models finished or otherwise, meet old and new friends, learn some new techniques and leave by the end of the weekend enthused as ever about the hobby. The NERPM is not an exclusive group of super modelers, they are regular folks' like you and me. Some may be more talented than others, but most aspire to be better, to produce more realistic looking models and share ideas. Dave Owens and his band of merry men encourage modelers of all abilities to share what they accomplished so far: Finished or otherwise, completed or in-progress. There is no judgment, no one telling you that you are wrong, just good camaraderie. This is a great podcast that we're sure you'll enjoy!!

Chef Dave Owens knows chocolates. He was the chief chocolatier and vice president of Bissengers for years before making a major pivot and joining Proper Cannabis. He saw the opportunity to make hand-crafted chocolates and candies with Honeybee Edibles as medical marijuana took off in Missouri. Now that recreational marijuana is legalized, the possibilities for growth are huge. We sat down with Dave to talk about his culinary background and how he's bringing that training to the world of edibles. His pre-med classes from college also help because there's a lot of science and a lot of spreadsheets involved when crafting chocolates flavored with peanuts and pretzels or salted brownie batter plus THC.
On this Episode of the How to Hunt Turkey Podcast, Paul talks with Dave Owens of the Pinhoti Project. Paul and Dave discuss the why behind Dave's Turkey hunting obsession. It's back!! It's back!! After a long and lonely absence, one of the best RPM meets in the country is alive and well. The New England or Northeast (honestly, it's been so long they can't remember the name exactly) Railroad Prototype Modelers Meet has been revitalized and is back for another great gathering with lots of fabulous models on display, dozens of clinics and as always, the best model railroad raffle east of Trout Run, Pennsylvania!! Dave Owens and the crew have found a new hotel in Springfield, Mass., enlisted the help of Amherst show director John Sacerdote and rounded up some of their favorite model railroad vendors. You can pay in advance online, $40 bucks, or $45 bucks at the door and this year there's a one-day registration for just $25 bucks!! So toss those beautiful models in a box, gas up the Subaru and head on out to the next great NERPM (‘cuse me) meet !!
