The CDC has reported nearly 2000 measles cases to date in 2025, a number we haven't seen since 1992. Next month, the US faces a critical deadline where we have to prove that we have stopped measles transmission, if not, we could lose our elimination status, something we have maintained for a quarter century. Is it too late? My guest today says losing elimination status isn't inevitable. Joining me today to discuss this public health wake up call in Rodney Rohde, PhD, Dr Rohde is a University Distinguished and Regents' Professor and Chair for the Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) Program in the College of Health Professions (CHP) at Texas State University. He is also the Associate Director for the Translational Health Research Center.

Dezember! Alles Weitere: https://story.ndr.de/barmbek-bump/index.html

This conversation dives into the new MXO 3 and how an in-house digital ASIC enables dual-path acquisition so the scope can capture and process at the same time, delivering up to 99% capture of signal activity. We discuss why this matters for catching infrequent glitches, how deep memory (125 Mpts standard, upgradeable to 500 Mpts) preserves sample rate over long captures, and how 12-bit vertical resolution with HD mode up to 18-bit and a digital trigger help resolve small signals beside large ones. We also cover the full HD 11.6 inch display, the eight channel option in the 3000 class, quieter bench operation, and pricing that makes higher performance more accessible.

In this week's episode Ron walked through his track record of about $25M in partner-equity deals with no LP syndications, where he typically sells at a 2× equity multiple plus cash flow. After selling most of his holdings this year (three sold, one small buy), he's retooling with fewer partners, longer holds, higher-quality assets with durable leases, and sites that include optional land he can monetize later. The big takeaways match my playbook: be fast to underwrite and offer, but patient until a real opportunity appears. Tighten NNN leases and keep meticulous documentation because institutions turn diligence up to roughly 10x a normal deal. Ron's recent IOS example summed it up well: bought two buildings on roughly 4 acres for $2.35M, corrected overstated acreage, reset a tenant to market before closing, secured about 5% seller financing, re-leased quickly after a vacancy (plus a roof repair), then exited about 18 months later to Blackstone for $4M+ at roughly a 6.4 to 6.5% cap. Looking ahead, he is eyeing an 80,000 sf Laredo distribution play with two years of term left, comfortable with lease-up risk given a low basis and easy demisability. We both prefer clustering assets in one submarket to cross-shop tenants. Macro view: the economy feels fragile, cap-rate compression is a maybe, and selective small IOS, sometimes all cash, can be the resilient move--

The latest episode of the Australian Aviation Podcast spotlights two finalists in the 2025 Australian Aviation Awards, with host Steve Kuper joined by Daniel Wang, head of programs for ATC and air defence at Rohde & Schwarz, and Rodney Sciortino, head of civil air traffic control. Together, they explore how the global technology company is delivering cutting-edge solutions across both the defence and civil aviation sectors, from deployable ATC towers to AI-driven technologies, cyber security safeguards, and the growing role of drones in airspace management. One of the standout capabilities they discuss is the transportable air operations tower (TAOT), a mobile system supporting both the Australian Defence Force and civilian organisations. The TAOT provides critical flexibility for operations in austere environments, disaster relief zones, and even during major events like the Avalon Airshow. As Wang says, the system allows the ADF to project air power and sustain operations from remote airfields, while Sciortino highlights its civil applications, from ensuring continuity after natural disasters to supporting firefighting aircraft and temporary tower upgrades. The trio also discuss Wang and Sciortino's journey to Rohde & Schwarz, and how the company's blend of global innovation, local experience, and cross-sector expertise is helping shape the future of air traffic management in Australia and the wider Indo-Pacific.
