In late 2018 Cultra was a select group of ultra runners, sworn to secrecy and bound by the belief that one should pursue the perfect trail run adventure, and worry about the consequences later. In a misguided attempt to drop out of the civilized world, the five gathered weekly to share their tales, of all the fun shit that happens on the trails that most normal people don't care about,  This is a reunion of the original Cultra five, Stacey Clark, Jordan Grande, Brian Roccapriore, Joe Laskey, and Art Byram.   Jordan's CUT112 Run Report  Please support Cultra Trail Running Podcast Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/CultraTrailRunning Strava: https://www.strava.com/clubs/CULTRA Twitter: https://twitter.com/blueblazerunner Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/cultratrailrunning/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/CultraTrailRunning/ Call the Karaoke Line at 203-DOG GENT   Music by Nick Byram, Severity

Hey gang, how's it been? We've had a busy few weeks and we're ahead of the curve in terms of providing you with excellent, up-to-date ultra coverage here in New England and beyond... actually I don't know if that's true and I don't care because we got a ton of phone calls to the CULTRA Karaoke line last week! Party in the USA my dudes and dudettes! In all seriousness, no. We are never serious. But we have a podcast and it has our old pal Stacey (not that Staci) visiting from Colorado and we talk about things like her run down in Moab recently and gratitude and running in ankle deep mud and pooping above treeline and speakerboobs and ICE ICE BABY (too cold), you do not want to miss this one, it's #special.  CT Sports and Fitness: https://connecticutsportsandfitness.com/ The stretch that Jimmy was talking about: https://fellrnr.com/wiki/Morton_Stretch Stacey's UltraSignup (she's so humble so we have to brag for her): https://ultrasignup.com/results_participant.aspx?fname=Stacey&lname=Clark&age=38 We’re on Spotify! https://open.spotify.com/show/44etXyR0WbJtmKRKrP7V6M We’re on iTunes! https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/cultra-trail-running/id1446356779 Please support Cultra Trail Running Podcast Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/CultraTrailRunning Strava: https://www.strava.com/clubs/CULTRA Twitter: https://twitter.com/blueblazerunner Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/cultratrailrunning/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/CultraTrailRunning/ Call the Karaoke Line at 203-DOG GENT   Intro Guitar by Nick, Vocals Jack Byram, and beats Jack Sevigny beatstars.com/sev_beats

Here’s that Run Ragged recap we promised- we’re visited by the one and only Joe Nuara, 3rd place finisher. Or 2nd to last DNF, whatever. We go deep inside Joe’s brain to see what it takes to go hour after hour after hour (29 to be exact) and what the heart of a warrior looks like- Joe gives us a really important “why” to the whole experience. He talks about his 100-mile experience from a few years back, flipping burgers with none other than #hundojoe at the NJ 3-Day. We also learn the ins-and-outs of Obstacle Course Racing life, as Joe is an elite competitor not only at ultras but also at OCRs. We also hear from the RDs perspective as Brian and Stacey not only battled sleep but the real fight- having access to unlimited Oreos and Mountain Dew (allegedly). What is it like to direct Connecticut’s premier Last Person Standing event? Find out here. Mad props to woodworking artist extraordinaire Stefan Rodriguez- that winner's trophy is the truth. We vaguely visit BleesterGate and skim over #ultradrama, because who gives a shit? Evil Becky is back and she is hilarious as she informs us that she’s all caught up on past CULTRA episodes. Finally we say goodbye to the incomparable Stacey Clark as she readies herself to move to Fort Collins, Colorado next week. It’s an action-packed episode you won’t want to miss. Mike Dolan is a bad ass; lawyer, former boxer, West Point graduate, 2:45 marathoner, now 100+ mile finisher. Then for whatever reason he decides to accept our invitation to appear on CULTRA and goes and absolutely wrecks that stellar resume. Some people never learn. In all seriousness, we sit down with both Mike and our own Stacey Clark as they talk about how they dominated the CUT112 from start to finish, teaming up early and going the distance and setting a new course record by over six hours. We can't forget everyone's favorite #hundojoe who seemed traumatized by the entire thing but got it done. Art gives a thorough run down of the day's events (and night's and next day's). We literally talk about feet for an hour, probably give bad medical advice again (allegedly) so you won't want to miss this one. We gloss over other races that happened, wonder where Evil Becky is and are easily impressed by yet another Ben Nephew FKT.   Connecticut Forest and Parks Association: https://www.ctwoodlands.org/ Run Ragged needs volunteers June 15th & 16th: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1_CEgjPu11M7rxXW2YJVN1rJHPZyzgmcLmnAEqKb2buE/edit#gid=2128025790 The CUT112 Facebook page:https://www.facebook.com/groups/1900561896825738/   Please support Cultra Trail Running Podcast Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/CultraTrailRunning Strava: https://www.strava.com/clubs/CULTRA Twitter: https://twitter.com/blueblazerunner Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/cultratrailrunning/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/CultraTrailRunning/ Call the Karaoke Line at 203-DOG GENT   Intro Guitar by Nick, Vocals Jack Byram, and beats Jack Sevigny beatstars.com/sev_beats Keywords: Ultra Running, Trail, trails, 100 milers, New England, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine, New York, Catskills, Adirondacks, Rhode Island, AppalachianTrail, AT, Blue Blaze, Forest, race, woodlands, mountains, FKT, Jersey, trap rock, ridgeline, Cultra Culture

The Crew is at it again, this time surprising our own Stacey Clark with an in-depth interview into why she’s so awesome, and why on Earth an elite ultrarunner like her slums it with us slow old dudes. The other elite female in our crew, Becky, was AWOL so Jimmy was lifted up from the Ottoman of Shame onto the Elite Loveseat, mostly just to clumsily bump the microphone like eight times. Stacey shares with us what drives and motivates her as well as her future plans. We also talk about all the hi-jinks at the past weekend’s Blue 2 Blue Challenge, including how both Hundo Joe and Brian saved a few lives, human AND canine. Hundo Joe gears up to run for 72 hours around a one-mile loop down in New Jersey, possibly earning another HUNDO in his name. Art went running in a quarry in Vermont as he gears up to tackle the CT section of the Appalachian Trail this coming weekend and prays to not die at the #CUT112. The Battle of Mattabesett comes to a somewhat satisfying conclusion as Art and Brian coordinated adorable matching vests emblazoned with the CFPA logo and finally the CULTRA Karaoke line triumphantly returns to the pod, you won’t want to miss this one!     The Soapstone Mountain Races: http://shenipsitstriders.org/club-races/soapstone-mountain-trail-races.html 3 Days at the Fair Live Tracking: http://liveatthefair.com/ Connecticut Forest and Parks Association: https://www.ctwoodlands.org/ Please support Cultra Trail Running Podcast Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/CultraTrailRunning Strava: https://www.strava.com/clubs/CULTRA Twitter: https://twitter.com/blueblazerunner Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/cultratrailrunning/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/CultraTrailRunning/ Call the Karaoke Line at 203-DOG GENT Intro Guitar by Nick, Vocals Jack Byram, and beats Jack Sevigny beatstars.com/sev_beats
