"If the president can violate the Constitution and there's no court that can enforce an order against him. Then you really do have a dictatorship." Dean and Jesse H. Choper Distinguished Professor of Law, University of California, Berkeley School of Law Prof. Erwin Chemerinsky joins Thom Hartmann to discuss the latest attempts to turn Donald Trump into a dictator. Plus Trump's no taxes on tips has become no healthcare for restaurant workers. Trump tries to BS Americans about his phone conversation with Putin, but Russia isn't going to let him get away with it. Hebrews 12:1-2 - Running the Race Focus on Hebrews 12:1-2, emphasizing perseverance and encouragement. "Hebrews chapter number 12, verse number 1, And wherefore seeing, we also are compassed about so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us." "Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God." Seventh Article of Faith Belief in the perseverance of saints in grace. Tied to Philippians 1:6: "Being confident of this very thing, that He which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ." Salvation is secure in Jesus' finished work (John 10). "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand." Eternal security is a gift, not earned. Responsibility to "stick with it" and "hang with it." "Don't give up. Don't lay it down. There ain't anything worth laying the cross of Christ down for." AWOL (Away Without Leave) concept: God never gives leave from service, love, obedience, prayer, etc. "When a man is AWOL, it means away without leave. And I don't know of a time that God ever gave a person leave. Not from His service. Not from His love." Every believer has a responsibility to share Jesus. "When it comes to telling somebody about Jesus, you're just as much required of that as I am." Running the Race with Patience 1 Corinthians 9:24: "Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain." Emphasizes running to obtain, not giving up. Run with patience the race "that is set before us." God prepares the race; there's a goal and purpose. "As a people of God, you ain't just running aimlessly. There's a goal. There's always a finish line with God." God sets the course; focus on running your own race. "If God set before you a course, you may say, well, I don't like this course." Galatians 5:7: "Ye did run well; who did hinder you that ye should not obey the truth?" Consider what hinders you from obeying the truth. Obstacles and difficulties are expected. Things to Consider to Help Run the Race Godly Examples "We also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses." Living and dead examples encourage perseverance. Appreciation for those who "pressed through" despite struggles. "Thank God they pressed through. Some of you had something that you was fighting. Some of you have afflictions. Some of you have got problems." Examples of faithfulness in the face of adversity (cancer, heart problems, etc.). Future repentance for not following good examples. "Maybe some of us will have to repent here but when we get there we may have to repent some of them and say you left me an example but I didn't follow it." Lay Aside Every Weight Separate from sin; weights hinder a good race. "Let us lay aside every weight and the sin which doth so easily beset us." Worldly cares can be burdensome. "If you're going to run a good race from God, you better get the world on your shoulders today." Cast cares on God. Discipline is needed to remove "extra pounds." "If you've got extra pounds, it's going to take some discipline for you to get it off." Deal with Sin Sin cripples; address it by repenting and seeking forgiveness. "Sin will cripple you... If he can get us to yield to sin and keep us in a place where we won't deal with sin and take the sin to the Father and repent of it and let Him purge us of that sin, friend, you're going to try to run crippled and it ain't going to work."

Welcome to Mysteries to Die ForI am TG Wolff and am here with Jack, my piano player and producer. This is a podcast where we combine storytelling with original music to put you in the heart of a mystery. All stories are structured to challenge you to beat the detective to the solution. Jack and I perform these live, front to back, no breaks, no fakes, no retakes. The rules for law and order create the boundaries for civil co-existence and, ideally, the backdrops for individuals, families, and companies to grow and thrive. Breaking these rules puts civil order at risk. And while murder is the Big Daddy of crimes, codified ordinances across municipal divisions, counties, states, and countries show the nearly endless ways there are to create mayhem. This season, we put our detective skills to the test. This is Season 8, Anything but Murder. This is Episode 9, missing person is the featured crime. This is The Florida Man Cometh by Jim WinterThis week's story come to us from Jim Winter, author of the Holland Bay series, which includes Holland Bay and The Dogs of Beaumont Heights. Like his series, this story takes place in what he calls “the Celloverse,” set in and around the fictional City of Monticello. DELIBERATIONTeasdale's early morning response to an abandoned school bus has turned into a scavenger hunt for a Florida man gone AWOL. Which one of the three party animals is missing Florida man James Floren? Trashcan Man, who is now unnaturally baldUnicorn Man, who bounced his head off at least one windshieldPacer Man, who managed to get a car stuck on a roller coasterHere are the facts as Teasdale sees them:A school bus and driver were borrowed from the school district by Mayor Nate Keller for a fishing party on Saturday. To Keller's knowledge the bus was returned with a full tank of gas. The school bus wasn't returned to the school district but left on Rufus King's lawn. The driver, Charlie Tobin, is missing.Searching the bus, Teasdale discovered a stack of neatly folded clothes on the driver's seat and an annoyed alligator chained in the aisle. Before being abandoned, the bus was parked at The Waffle House. The manager said a drunk Larry Molnek, a sales manager for a local car dealer, came in with a man he didn't know. The manager tossed Molnek out for fighting. Either Molnek or the stranger head butted a windshield before leaving in the bus.Teasdale and Deputy Swenson received a BOLO Florida Man James Floren. The recently AWOL husband has family in Ohio, including now respected attorney Joe Reese. As teens, Floren and Reese were busted for breaking into the amusement park to climb the B-52 coaster.Inside the closed amusement park, Teasdale and Swenson discovered a naked man in a trash can. He was pale, white, and newly bald. Next, they found a man trapped in a Pacer stuck on the B-52 coaster. He was pale beneath his tan complexion. -Lastly, Swenson discovered a man in one of the bathrooms. He had a bloody, black-and-blue bump in the middle of his forehead. Which is the Florida Man cometh? About Missing PersonsSince 1975, the FBI has maintained the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) missing person and unidentified person statistics. According the 2023 statistics report, the files are retained indefinitely until the person is located or the record is cancelled by the entering agency. It's been 50 years since the end of the Vietnam war. In honor of the anniversary, we're revisiting a story about a notorious American military prison on the outskirts of Saigon, called Long Binh Jail. LBJ wasn't for captured enemy fighters—it was for American soldiers. These were men who had broken military law. And there were a lot of them. As the unpopular war dragged on, discipline frayed and soldiers started to rebel.By the summer of 1968, over half the men in Long Binh Jail were locked up on AWOL charges. Some were there for more serious crimes, others for small stuff, like refusing to get a haircut. The stockade had become extremely overcrowded. Originally built to house 400 inmates, it became crammed with over 700 men, more than half African American. On August 29th, 1968, the situation erupted. Neil Young's most successful solo album is also considered his signature album. Harvest was Young's fourth solo studio album, and it topped the Billboard 200 chart in the US for two weeks while also spawning two top 40 singles. Young grew up in Winnipeg, Canada, and began playing and songwriting there in several groups. His first success as a songwriter came for a song he wrote for The Guess Who which made it to the top 40 in Canada. He was in the Mynah Birds, a Toronto group fronted by a young Rick James. The Mynah Birds were attempting to get signed by Motown when James was arrested for being AWOL from the Navy reserves. Shortly after this, Neil Young and bassist Bruce Palmer sold the group's equipment, bought a hearse, and used it to move to Los Angeles. He then worked as a session musician and a member of Buffalo Springfield before striking out on his own solo work while also joining Crosby, Stills & Nash.Harvest was written after an acoustic tour the previous year, a tour prompted by a back injury Young sustained that required him to play sitting down for an extended time. The album contains significant acoustic elements, as several tracks he played on that tour would appear on the album. Many of the lyrics are related to Young's growing relationship with actress Carrie Snodgress. Young was a success before recording this album, and was able to bring in a number of session musicians on several tracks including Stephen Stills, Graham Nash, Linda Ronstadt, James Taylor, and the London Symphony Orchestra.Surprisingly, the album met mixed reviews when released, though over time the critics' assessments would turn much more positive. The album was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2015.Wayne brings us this California country-tinged album for this week's podcast. Heart of GoldOne of the tracks that arose from Neil Young's acoustic tour, this song topped the charts in the United States and Canada, and went to number 10 in the UK. Despite its success, Young had mixed feelings about the popularity he gained from the song. Linda Ronstadt and James Taylor provided backing vocals on this track. The lyrics talk about a man who may be overthinking life, searching for something just beyond his grasp.Old ManThe origin of this song was an encounter that Neil Young had with the caretaker of the Broken Arrow Ranch, which Young purchased in 1970. The old caretaker was not pleased with the young (literally) hippie-looking Young purchasing the place, and this song's lyrics talk about how the two of them were not that different.AlabamaA continuation of a diatribe from Young's “Southern Man,” this track condemns the racism of the white people in Alabama specifically, and the southern United States in general. Neil Young would eventually come to see the lyrics as too accusatory, and too easy to misconstrue as a general condemnation of all Southerners. The Needle and the Damage DoneThe inspiration for this song was a number of musicians whom Young had observed as they fell apart due to heroin addiction. More specifically, Young wrote this song about bandmate Danny Whitten, whom Young had to let go from his tour due to his heroin use. Whitten would die of an overdose shortly thereafter.ENTERTAINMENT TRACK:Cabaret by Liza Minnelli (from the motion picture “Cabaret”)Minnelli stars in this period musical drama based on the Broadway show, set in Germany before World War II. STAFF PICKS:Mother and Child Reunion by Paul SimonRob leads off the staff picks with a one of the earlier rock songs with reggae influences. The song was written in response to a Jimmy Cliff song in which a mother receives a letter that her son had been killed in battle in Vietnam. It was also inspired by Simon's loss of his dog. The title was inspired by a menu item in a Chinese restaurant in New York - chicken and eggs - entitled “Mother and Child Reunion.”I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing (In Perfect Harmony) by the New SeekersBruce brings us a hit song which originally appeared as a commercial jingle. Coca-Cola produced an ad called “hilltop” featuring young people of various races coming together over a Coke. The success prompted a rewrite of the jingle into a full-length song, dropping the product references. It became a big hit for both the New Seekers who recorded the radio jingle, and the Hillside Singers who recorded the television commercial.Let's Stay Together by Al GreenLynch features the song which hit the top of the US singles charts, and was named number one R&B song on the Billboard Year-end chart for 1972. It has been covered by a number of artists, with Tina Turner being the most prominent. It was also inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1999. Do You Know What I Mean by Lee MichaelsWayne's closes out the staff picks with a song about a girl that a guy lost to his best friend after taking her for granted. It reached number 6 on the Billboard Hot 100. Lee Michaels came out of the San Francisco music scene, originally as a surf band before moving into a more "blue eyed soul" direction. Van Halen opened for Lee Michaels at the Whiskey a Go Go in 1977. INSTRUMENTAL TRACK:Joy (feat. Tom Parker) by Apollo 100This jazz instrumental covers the baroque chorale "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring" by J.S. Bach. The Jules Rimet, trophy of the FIFA World Cup, was stolen from a stamp exhibition in Westminster Central Hall on March 20th, 1966 - the year England was hosting (and went on to win) the tournament. The theft sparked a massive Police investigation and multiple offers of rewards for its recovery. Astonishingly, the trophy had not been heavily guarded or alarmed, so the thieves stole it with bolt cutters. In a twist straight out of Enid Blyton, the cup was eventually discovered not by the boys in blue - but by a pet dog called Pickles, who was then lauded as a national hero. In this episode, Arion, Rebecca and Olly reveal the identities of the London gangsters who poached the Cup; explain what music hall star Tommy Trinder had to do with it; and discover how, in Brazil, the Cup was to go AWOL again… Further Reading: • ‘The Theft of the Jules Rimet Trophy - The Hidden History of the 1966 World Cup, By Martin Atherton (Meyer & Meyer, 2008): https://www.google.co.uk/books/edition/The_Theft_of_the_Jules_Rimet_Trophy/m7SbwNM4Y0sC?hl=en&gbpv=1&dq=theft+of+the+world+cup+1966&pg=PA45&printsec=frontcover • ‘The World Cup is stolen' (The Guardian, 1966): https://www.theguardian.com/football/2015/mar/21/world-cup-stolen-football-archive-1966 • ‘Pickles - The dog who saved the 1966 World Cup' (The Sun, 2018): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nQjZagahHKU Love the show? This week on The Feds, Holly Felmlee joins us again to discuss her recent Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) lawsuit win. Holly Felmlee was a financial analyst for the Department of Defense Education Activities (DODEA), who worked in Japan and Belgium during the Covid years. Based on her vaccination status, she was unwillingly put on AWOL status and fired, re-hired, and fired again within a 4-day period. Holly filed an EEOC complaint and sued the Department of Defense (DOD) . We discuss what her recent win means, the extensive waste and abuse she saw as a financial analyst, and the abuse within DODEA schools. As of March 11, Holly and the Department of Defense are still discussing the terms of her reinstatement. The DOD attempted to bring Holly back as a GS-9, but the job is now promoted to a GS-11 and there is resulting confusion with her back pay terms. As of now, Holly has not been reinstated or received back pay.Did you know Feds For Freedom is co-sponsoring a one-day conference at Liberty University? Tom is joined by Bob “Bubba” Buchannan of BeauMac live in studio while Joey takes on the NW Hunt Expo, they do a regional roundup including springing forward, Rising rivers, license fee increase and runnin' to Canada, then in the BeauMac TECH Line, they are joined by Mark Yuasa of WDFW Communications to translate the salmon forecast numbers into opportunity at the PFMC (Pacific Fisheries Management Council) meetings, then they give their Picks of the Week.
Today we trigger our PM friends.00:40 - IntroWe chat about our studio setup and Eddie's perceived curmudgeonliness. Eddie insists that it's almost always about expecting people to be a good roommate. 03:57 - Tyler is giddy. Tyler shares about the comment thread on one of his recent LinkedIn posts. The initial post asked people to make a project manager fly off the handle in five words or less. Here are some of our favorites:-“Cleaners erased your whiteboard.” We wonder if cleaners should carry insurance for this offense.-“As per my last email…” We have a hard time seeing this one used in a tone that is not passive aggressive.-“Rev 16 is being issued tomorrow.” We've seen the numbers climb even higher than that.-“That is excluded from my proposal.” This one always comes six months down the road.-“Why is the OSHA truck outside?” We throw Dad under the bus with a story from OSHA's early days. -“You see the new plans?” We can all work together to make sure this one goes extinct. Eddie submits a plea that people don't nudge elements when you're tempted to.- “They've been scanned in.” …Meaning you can expect some coffee stains.24:15 - Our additions and some honorable mentionsEddie shares a trigger phrase that he didn't share on LinkedIn: “Yeah, but you lost your slot.” He shares some thoughts about the chain of events that leads to this one. Someone is wanting to put everyone else on pause. We run through a few more responses: -“That's above my pay grade.”-“I may not have said that, but that's what the consultant's intent was.” -“The permits were never obtained.”30:03 - ConfessionsWe also posted an invitation for people to share about bizarre project-manager-related stories you've experienced or heard. Here are some highlights from that one.-A traveling employee who angered his girlfriend by visiting a specific sort of club-A worker who went AWOL under suspicious circumstances-The contractor who demonstrated his objections to excessive meetings by painting figurines in the corner of the meeting roomWe invite you to share some more via DMs.36:52 - MeetingsWe discuss the merits and annoyances of meetings. Are they necessary? Well, yeah, for sure they are to a point. Can we all agree to manage them as thoughtfully as possible, though?Check out the partners that make our show possible.Find Us Online: BrosPodcast.com - LinkedIn - Youtube - Instagram - Facebook - TikTok - Eddie's LinkedIn - Tyler's LinkedInIf you enjoy the podcast, please rate us on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you listen to us! Welcome to this super-charged, explosive episode of Light ‘Em Up.We're currently being downloaded in 119 countries. We tackle the topics that touch your lives! On this episode we examine how our First Amendment (freedom of speech) and due process rights can be stripped from us and violated in a rapid series of cascading events that ultimately put our freedom and liberties in grave jeopardy. We travel to Michigan to speak with our special guest, Alison Reedy, the mother of young Dillon Reedy. The following events unfolded at Huron High School in New Boston, Michigan on December 8th, 2021.This is a case that every parent of any school child anywhere across the nation should be extremely concerned about.Imagine sending your 14-year-old son to school in the morning and by the afternoon he's been arrested, never Mirandized (according to his mother) taken in hand cuffs to the juvenile detention facility where he was processed into the system and issued a state (juvenile) criminal ID number — and forced to submit to a mugshot — ALL for something he did not do.The fact pattern showed that in a brief conversation with another student in class, Dillon was accused by the classroom teacher of making a terroristic threat to “shoot up” the school. The teacher incorrectly overheard what she thought was a threat. She later allegedly admitted that she never herself felt threatened, according to Alison. From there, common sense went AWOL.Dillon was “in big trouble”— the school secretary said to his mom — when she called to inform Alison to come to the school immediately. Wrongfully accused, wrongfully charged. Let down by a host of adults who should have been able to understand the difference between a credible threat and one that was not credible. This is a textbook case of a “rush to judgment” by over half a dozen school, municipal and county professionals and politicians, as well as the Huron School Board, any of which should have known better than to proceed with this case.Initial news reports regarding this incident were defaming, libelous and salacious and most importantly WRONG! Alison maintains that the county prosecutor was “rogue” … as the county was in possession of evidence that exonerated her son — yet, they chose willingly to suppress and overlook those crucial facts.“Negligence on all sides, a biased expulsion hearing and two off-record plea deals,” Alison stated. No one desires to see any violence on any school campus. However, this zero-tolerance policy for even uttering the words “shoot” or “gun” is an unconstitutional kneejerk reaction by the legislature and has led school administrators to make rash and very costly decisions concerning student discipline. The truth matters. Facts matter. Dillon Reedy's rights matter! If this happened to our guest and her son, certainly it can happen to you and your family. After hearing the fact pattern in this case you'll ask yourself:— Is this America?— Is the First Amendment still intact and applicable?— How can abuses such as this take place, everyday across our nation?Tune in to hear all of the explosive details. Follow our sponsors: Newsly & Feedspot. You can follow Alison on Facebook. Her group is called: My Son on the Alter. To vigorously defend against these false allegations this process has been a tremendous financial burden to her and her family. On top of the legal bills, she is attempting to raise funds for her son -- who maintains a 3.6 GPA -- so that he can realize his dream of going to college in Utah for computer science.Link to the GoFundMe Page. June 12, 1993. Santa Clara, California. 21-year old U.S. Army Private Justin Burgwinkel leaves his girlfriend's apartment and never returns. One week earlier, Justin had gone AWOL from Fort Lewis, the post where he was stationed in Washington state, and kept hinting to his girlfriend that he was working on some sort of secret mission. Three months later, Justin's abandoned car is found at a motel in Monterey with his military dog tags and most of his personal items inside. While the Army denies that Justin was ever involved in any secret operations, no trace of him is ever found. Did Justin Burgwinkel go missing because he became involved in something sinister? Or did he suffer some sort of mental breakdown and lose his grip on reality? On this week's episode of “The Path Went Chilly”, we explore the unsolved disappearance of a soldier who has not been seen in three decades. If you have any information about this case, please contact the Clinton Police Department at (978) 365-4111.Support the Show: Patreon.comn/julesandashleyPatreon.com/thetrailwentcoldAdditional Reading:https://unsolved.com/gallery/justin-burgwinkel/https://unsolvedmysteries.fandom.com/wiki/Justin_Burgwinkelhttp://charleyproject.org/case/justin-burgwinkelhttps://www.newspapers.com/image/626359358/

Heard all across the US on about 40 radio stations, The Free Beer and Hot Wings Show has grown steadily since it's inception in the late 1990's.In this FULL show on Patreon!*Despite everyone telling the show that when they "talk sexy" to each other, it's horrifically cringeworthy...guess what well the crew went back to!*EZ and Ben revisit the "Free Beer Fake Sniffle Super-cut."*Free Beer being Free Beer.*Free Beer makes everything super awkward with an odd ball elbow from the top rope on Hot Wings. Apparently, Free Beer is super butthurt that HW won't be his buddy outside of work. Note: From EZ's perspective, this exact scenario came up multiple times during EZ's years on the show. Greggy could never quite accept the fact that nobody wanted to be around him away from the studio.*Despite her Dad being an enlisted Corporal in the Army, Kelly Cheese doesn't know what the term, "AWOL" means. *Stop me if you've heard this. Kelly makes a fucked up noise.*To this day, the FBHW show does an impression of EZ doing an impression of Hot Wings. While that is problematic, what's even more of a problem is that they aren't funny.*Another horrific "Free Beer and Awkward Report."*Steve still thinks he's ugly. EZ thinks isn't ugly, but years ago, Steve got picked on about this exact same thing, and boy did he come unglued. And if you're left feeling obsessed and frantic for little crumbs of communicaiton, I'm sending you a lifeline, to tell you – your trauma wounds have been activated, and from here on out, it's going to be VERY hard to find any peace or happiness, unless the whole dynamic of your relationship changes. Was Dr. Who right when he said military intelligence is a contradiction in terms? Brad Abrahams is back (with Liv, Jake, and Travis) with the story of the “Gulf Breeze 6”, in which six military intelligence officers with top-secret clearance went AWOL from one of Europe's largest Cold War bases in 1990. Their reason? A Ouija board told them to. Convinced they were on a divine mission to stop Armageddon, they fled to Florida, believing Jesus (piloting a UFO) would meet them for the rapture. Even more bizarre than that last sentence was the punishment meted out to them. Were they part of an end-of-the-world cult? Did figures like Bob Dole and George Bush intervene on their behalf? This insane tale is a true mystery to this day, as the trail has gone cold since its explosion in the early ‘90s news cycle. At the end of the episode, we're joined by Tanner Boyle of the ‘Getting Spooked' newsletter to dive deeper into the Gulf Breeze 6 mystery, and explore whether any parapolitical shenanigans were at play.
