Today, on Karl and Crew, we continued our weekly theme, "Under Pressure," which explores how pressure exposes God's power, and we focused on 2 Corinthians 4:7–18. Rob West joined us to talk about financial pressure, trusting God as a provider, and practicing faithful stewardship when money feels tight. Host of the nationally syndicated radio program Faith & Finance Live, is CEO of Kingdom Advisors, and wrote “Our Ultimate Treasure: A 21-Day Journey to Faithful Stewardship.” Steve Norman joined us to help us understand when to carry our own load, when to ask for help, and how to support loved ones without trying to carry what only God can. Steve is a pastor, speaker, corporate wellness coach for Winning At Home, and the host of “The New Norm with Steve Norman.” He wrote the book called “The Preacher as Sermon: How Who You Are Shapes What They Hear.” We then opened up the phone lines to hear from our listeners. We posed the question, “What is the great stuff in your life you have not thanked God for, but you would like to now?” You can hear the highlights of today’s program on the Karl and Crew Showcast. Pastor Steve Norman from Winning at Home joins us this week and explores the concept of the blessing, particularly as it relates to the family.
Jesus came to us as a baby at Christmas time. And Jesus still comes intimately close to us now. Sometimes He comes into the darkness reminding us that He is the Light of the World. Steve Norman of Winning at Home & host of The New Norm Podcast has written a devotional to help us ready our hearts to celebrate Jesus’ coming. It’s called Countdown to Christmas. At a time when he was sitting in physical darkness and feeling ashamed, Jesus came to Steve through the words of his 4-year-old son singing, “This Little Light of Mine.” As Steve was hitting the wall in the 17th mile of a marathon he was ill-prepared to run, Jesus ran next to him through words of encouragement from fellow runners. Jesus comes and meets us where we are. Eugene Peterson says in The Message “The Word became flesh and blood, and moved into the neighborhood.” Jesus is Immanuel, God with us!Donate to Moody Radio: http://moodyradio.org/donateto/morningshow/wgnbSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Days of Elijah: 20th Century Idols - Steve Norman - 11.17.24 by Vertical Church
It’s reality for Perry. Like yesterday, within 90 seconds of waking up his worries went from trivial, “How am I gonna get my Starbucks app to work again?” To heavy, “I wonder if dad’s gonna be OK after his 2 ER visits.” And everything in between! Steve Norman joins the team, and he, Perry, and Shawna kick off the podcast with a conversation about what to do with those trivial and overwhelming worries. Steve works with Winning at Home and is host of The New Norm podcast. Then, Shawna admits she has perfected the art of holy procrastination. How do we focus on the task at hand and refuse to get sidetracked with distractions? Then, Perry shares about a season of life when he went from lots of open doors doing the things that were giving him joy, to cleaning toilets. A conversation about when God “Shuts us in.” And last, Shawna’s feeling a little overwhelmed at all the opportunities in front of her. She asks Steve, “How do you maximize your gifts and times within limits?”Support the show: https://give.moodyradio.org/fall-share?v=def&appeal=MRWM&_gl=1%2a142i9we%2a_ga%2aNTE4MTE5MmUtY2U1Yy00YmQ3LWU4MmUtNjEwYTQ5YzAyODRj%2a_ga_4WH1937046%2aMTY5NTExODEwMS4yOTkuMC4xNjk1MTE4MTAxLjYwLjAuMA..&_ga=2.197426156.215784306.1695059984-1182841406.166859587See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Have you ever so blatantly disobeyed God that you actually did the opposite of what God told you to do? Pastor & author, Steve Norman of Winning at Home, joins us to talk about what we can learn about God and about ourselves from the story of Jonah in the Bible. God told Jonah to go to Nineveh and warn them to turn from their sin but Jonah rebelled and ran the other direction. He hated the Ninevites! As Jonah was running we see how God used even Jonah’s disobedience to turn others toward him when the pagan sailors began to worship the true God. God’s compassion is enough for all of us—Jonah experienced compassion in the belly of a fish even though he was running from his mission. And Ninevah experienced compassion through Jonah’s preaching even though he still longed for the people to be destroyed! Then, in the day in and day out we may not see transformation, but God is working. Shawna’s friend Cheryl realized how she was different from who she used to be when she took a road trip to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Have you ever felt overwhelmed by your love for God? Todd, a listener, texted to share with us an incredible moment he had with the Lord – a moment that made him want to burst into dance! Then Perry shares, “There are moments when something will trigger a painful memory of one of my worst sins.” That happened to Perry last week. He shares his default mode to deal with the shame. Maybe you’ll relate.Support the show: https://give.moodyradio.org/fall-share?v=def&appeal=MRWM&_gl=1%2a142i9we%2a_ga%2aNTE4MTE5MmUtY2U1Yy00YmQ3LWU4MmUtNjEwYTQ5YzAyODRj%2a_ga_4WH1937046%2aMTY5NTExODEwMS4yOTkuMC4xNjk1MTE4MTAxLjYwLjAuMA..&_ga=2.197426156.215784306.1695059984-1182841406.166859587See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Parenting is hard. In every season. We do what we can to set up the best possible future for our kids. We want them to have everything they need, knowing full well that we fall short of that. We have a front row seat to their bad decisions and can see that it leads to nowhere good. Steve Norman of Winning at Home joins us to talk about what we can learn from the Bible about parenting adult kids today. He says our job is to “bless and release.” Part of blessing them is owning our own mistakes that have impacted their lives. In doing so we redirect them from making the same mistakes in theirs. In every circumstance and in every season we can be sure of this truth: God is working in the hearts and lives of our kids.Support the show: https://give.moodyradio.org/fall-share?v=def&appeal=MRWM&_gl=1%2a142i9we%2a_ga%2aNTE4MTE5MmUtY2U1Yy00YmQ3LWU4MmUtNjEwYTQ5YzAyODRj%2a_ga_4WH1937046%2aMTY5NTExODEwMS4yOTkuMC4xNjk1MTE4MTAxLjYwLjAuMA..&_ga=2.197426156.215784306.1695059984-1182841406.166859587See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
