Our inaugural edition of the MacroCAST, longer format CASTs designed to give you specific information about a particular funding agency and their priorities under the SBIR/STTR programs, focuses on the NIH (National Institutes of Health). This CAST talks about the goals of the NIH and their particular metrics for the SBIR/STTR programs, how their proposal packages are different that other funding agencies, and some best practices and tips/tricks for ensuring you meet required evaluation criteria. For more information, visit www.arrowheadcenter.nmsu.edu/nmfast/.
Our twelfth FAST CAST discusses the role of the NM FAST program, how it fits into the SBIR/STTR programs, and what NM FAST is actually funded to do. This CAST focuses on what are the services that NM FAST performs for our participants and how those services are leveraged. For more information, visit www.arrowheadcenter.nmsu.edu/nmfast/.
Our second edition of the MacroCAST focuses on the USDA (United States Department of Agriculture). This CAST talks about the goals of the USDA and their particular metrics for the SBIR/STTR programs, how their proposal packages are different that other funding agencies, and some best practices and tips/tricks for ensuring you meet required evaluation criteria. For more information, visit www.arrowheadcenter.nmsu.edu/nmfast/.
Our third edition of the MacroCAST focuses on the DOE (Department of Energy). This CAST talks about the goals of the DOE and their particular metrics for the SBIR/STTR programs, how their proposal packages are different that other funding agencies, and some best practices and tips/tricks for ensuring you meet required evaluation criteria. For more information, visit www.arrowheadcenter.nmsu.edu/nmfast/.
Our eleventh FAST CAST discusses some of the future plans for the NM FAST program as we start to close out year 2 and move to year 3. This CAST focuses on some of the upcoming changes that are being made to our resources page, some of the tools we are in the process of creating to make opportunity capture easier for our FAST participants, and some of the ways our website will be changing to make it easier to navigate and more user friendly. For more information, visit www.arrowheadcenter.nmsu.edu/nmfast/.
Our seventh FAST CAST discusses what similarities exist between different agencies when referring to the SBIR/STTR packages. This CAST focuses on what are the common areas between SBIR/STTR packages between the different federal funding agencies that participate in the SBIR/STTR programs, what comprises some of those sections, what to be cognizant of for the similarities between these agencies, and most importantly, what to be aware of for the differences. This is highly relevant, as sometimes, if you write a SBIR/STTR package to a particular agency, you might find it doesn’t share certain key characteristics for a different agency you might submit a very similar package to. This can possibly cause your proposal to be returned without review, so make sure to always be aware of the particular language a federal funding agency uses in their SBIR/STTR announcements. For more information, visit www.arrowheadcenter.nmsu.edu/nmfast/.
Our fifth FAST CAST discusses how to find applicable topic areas for your innovative idea under the SBIR/STTR program. This CAST focuses on where you can find the resources for viewing current open solicitations and their subsequent topic areas in the SBIR/STTR programs, how often topic areas reappear from federal funding agencies (if at all), and where you can go for more guidance on getting help in these different areas. For more information, visit www.arrowheadcenter.nmsu.edu/nmfast/.
Our sixth FAST CAST discusses what comprises a typical SBIR/STTR package and some overall package guidance. This CAST focuses on some commonalities between agencies for SBIR/STTR package requirements, where you can find resources for generating required documentation for the packages, and what are some of the most critical requirements in putting together your SBIR/STTR package. As a reminder, though SBIR/STTR packages stay fairly static from solicitation round to solicitation round, there are some marked differences between each agency, so make sure to review their proposal instructions in depth.
