Greetings friends! Welcome back to the festivalPass Stories podcast. This week, Host Pat Tully is joined by three people who are paving the way and opening doors for women in the movie business. It's our pleasure to introduce the ladies of FLOW Film Festival & Market, Kimberly Douglas, Tiffany Porter, and Alexandra Bello.  Over the last few years, the entertainment industry has been somewhat exposed for its lack of diversity in leadership roles and the mistreatment of women. In fact, the FLOW website highlights these facts with staggering statistics. Only 4% of directors in Hollywood are women, and only 3% are cinematographers, even though 51% of moviegoers are female. These numbers are undoubtedly unfair. Which is why Kim, Tiff, and Alex are working relentlessly to even the playing field.   With 15 years of experience in the industry as an actress and behind the camera, Kimberly Douglas decided that she wanted to start something of her own after an awful encounter on a film set. She met Tiffany Porter at a film festival, who had been in the performing arts as a young child, and had worked in fashion, and music. Together, they founded Florida Leaders Opening Worlds Film Festival and Market (or FLOW). Alex Bello, the Executive Director and President of Marketing of FLOW has developed features and shorts, and has worked as an actress, producer, and director. These three strong individuals are spearheading the FLOW mission, which is, “promoting women in the film industry in non-traditional senior and leadership roles, and the films that employ them."  So, why should you go to, enter, and support the FLOW Film Festival and Market? Simply because you get to experience stories that are hidden gems (movie buffs know that this is what we search for). Entering and being accepted into FLOW guarantees that your film will receive distribution of some kind; a perk that most festivals don't offer their filmmakers. Also, you will get to meet and network with people that are either aspiring film professionals, or already established in the industry. Lastly, you can be a part of something special…we're talking to you donors and sponsors! Our guests go into great detail about the festival, and FLOW's website lists the awards, rules, submission guidelines, etc. The event will take place from September 26th to October 2nd, so get your tickets now! If you're out there listening to this podcast and you have a vision that you want to share, submit it to FLOW Film Festival & Market; your project will be in great hands. Enjoy this jammed-packed episode, and we'll see you next week!   “Everybody has their own little agenda and their own expertise, and I wouldn't have it any other way. A great team is full of people that compliment each other, and that's exactly how we're doing it.” - Alexandra Bello (FLOW Film Festival & Market)    Catch the interview on festivalPass Stories! https://festivalpass.com/stories   You can find FLOW Film Festival on: FLOW Film Festival's Website: https://www.flowffm.com   FLOW Film Festival's LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/flowfilm/about/   FLOW Film Festival's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/flowfilmsfestival/   FLOW Film Festival's Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/flowfilmfestivalmarket   Connect with festivalPass! www.GoodMorningGwinnett.com A judge will soon decide whether Gwinnett County Tax Commissioner Tiffany P. Porter will be required to collect municipal taxes for a small city of about 5,000 residents. The lawsuit comes after state legislators hastily passed a bill to prevent the tax commissioner from charging eight cities for municipal tax collection that would have supplemented her $141,098 salary by an additional $110,734.A hearing was held on August 13 for the lawsuit that the City of Grayson filed against Porter in late July after she declined to collect the city's property taxes. Public officials who attended the court hearing reported a large crowd attended, including some employees from Porter's office who appeared to be there in support of her.SOURCE: www.AJC.com

Join Pastor Travis Hall and his guest Tiffany Porter as she shares her experience of championing resilience, vulnerability, and change hand-in-hand during a time when life seemed to have thrown her to the gutter. Tiffany went through discrimination, divorce, single-parenthood, loss of career, and breast cancer in series; experiences she instead calls an unfolding of her true character by God – rather than hurdles to put her down. In this episode, listen to how she speaks from a strong individual's perspective and on what people should know during their times of adversity. Tune in as they put the spot on the Transformational Truth #19 - Adversity often becomes the shovel that God uses to unearth our greatest potential. Listen with your notes ready because there will be a lot to take away from this episode as you tune in. In this episode you will learn: · Walking through life storm after storm… · Those who are strong are not always strong. · "Get up, get back up, get up now." – The voice was telling me. · Do no self-sabotage; let your past go! · What you need to know when you're in your life's dark phase. · …and so much more. About Tiffany Porter: A 20 year resident of Gwinnett County, Tiffany Porter has made public service a cornerstone of her career. She is the first African American Tax Commissioner for Gwinnett County, GA. After graduating with Honors from Hampton University, Tiffany continued her educational pursuits at Emory University School of Law while dually enrolled in the MBA program at Georgia State University. It was during those graduate school years that she started her public service. While in law school, she clerked for the Honorable Thelma Wyatt Cummings Moore in Fulton County Superior Court and Justice Robert Benham in the Georgia Supreme Court. With her degrees in hand, Tiffany launched a law firm specializing in real estate, tax, and business law. In 2011, she formed Porter and Whitner Law Group with her former partner, Judge Tadia Whitner. Tiffany's other business, Zenith Sports and Entertainment Group, a career management practice for professional athletes and entertainers, resulted from her certification as an NFL agent and licensed attorney. On October 14, 2019, Tiffany Porter was sworn as the first African American Judge for the Duluth Municipal Court. Being first isn't new for Tiffany. She was the first in her family to go to college and the first to earn a law degree. Also, Tiffany appears weekly as a legal analyst for the Court TV network. Tiffany Porter is blessed with four children, is a 20-year member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., a 19-year member of Life Church International in Duluth, and a proud two-time breast cancer survivor. www.GoodMorningGwinnett.com Man yesterday was a busy one for me and for so many others, because there were election runoffs. There were some major upsets here in Gwinnett County. Now I understand why candidates say they hate runoffs. Nicole Love Hendrickson is running for the Gwinnett County Chairwoman position. If she wins she will be the first Black person to ever hold that position. Keybo Taylor Defeated Curtis Clemons for the Sheriff seat. Jasper Watkins will be running against Ben Archer for Gwinnett Commissioner for District 3. Nikki Merritt will be running against Sen. PK Martin for the Senate District9 seat. Deborah Fluker defeated Judge Kathryn Schrader for the Gwinnett County Superior Court Judge seat. Last but not least Tiffany Porter will run against Richard Steel in November for the Tax Commissioner seat. Other big news was that presidential candidate Joe Biden picked Kamala Harris as his running mate. Many people were so happy, and some were brought to tears. Some on the other hand felt like that was a bad decision. I will be following the election very close to bring you updates.#GwinnettCountyLive Daily News, #Podcast, #Local News
