Now that events are back in-person, are you going to them? This episode's guest, Aya Robinson of Opry Entertainment Group, shares why going to events in your community is more than just about showing up. It's a way to interact with and learn from the people near you. For example, when Aya moved to Nashville, she was able to attend events with associations like the local American Marketing Association chapter. It's a great way to meet new people if you're new to the job or the area in general. Plus, outreach is a huge part of growing local organizations. If you're in charge of your organization or club, how do you expand? Who should you contact? The answer is usually the marketing teams at related companies. James Peden, the Director of Operations for Liberty Entertainment Group is back for his second appearance. Bovine Wine Club is a brand-new private wine club opening up in Toronto. It is brought to you by the same people behind Don Alfonso, Blueblood Steakhouse, Cibo Wine Bar and so many other wine forward restaurants. What I appreciate the most about this new venture and the work that James is doing is that when you strip away all the high-end designs and features you would come to expect from Liberty this wine club is, at its heart, all about the wine. James and his entire team of 'Wine Avengers' are just as nerdy about wine as the members and treat each bottle with the respect it deserves.

Sports team owners for decades have seen enormous tax benefits from their team purchases, dispatching squads of accountants to find write-offs on things from equipment and player salaries to TV rights and more. Now the IRS is looking to make sure all of those savings were above board. The IRS's Large Business and International Division announced the audit campaign last month, making sure the income and deductions taken by sports-related partnerships with large losses are reported in compliance with the tax code. The campaign comes as sports deals continue to reach new heights and the volume of deals remains hot, Robert Raiola, director of the Sports and Entertainment Group at PKF O'Connor Davies, told Bloomberg Tax, adding that rising values are attracting wealthy buyers and investment firms are getting in on the action.
