PODCAST INTRO: Grief is a universal experience. As I've often shared with you, there are many types of grief so if you're listening today and you haven't lost a significant person but you've been separated from something that you held near and dear to your heart then you'll be able to apply what Dr. McNeil shares in this message to your pain/your life. I say Dr. McNeil because she's certainly earned her credentials but I found her to be so down to earth I caught myself addressing her as Amanda. Dr. Amanda McNeil, is mom, wife, counselor, pastor, speaker, and an author and I'll share a little bit about her most recent book in just a minute. A Personal Journey of Grief and Faith Her journey with grief began at a young age after unexpectedly losing her father. And this personal tragedy began to shape her path, leading her to become a strong voice and advocate for those who grieve. The Interplay of Grief, Mental Health, and Faith During our discussion, Amanda highlighted how grief impacts mental health and how both the Bible and science provide insights into navigating this difficult journey. She emphasized the importance of understanding how grief can be traced through family history and how it affects us on multiple levels—emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. Story Work and Healing Amanda advocates for engaging in "story work" to process grief. This involves reflecting on our life experiences and understanding the narratives we've formed, often from childhood. By doing story work, we can identify and challenge lie-based beliefs that might be rooted in shame or guilt. The purpose for bringing those emotions to the surface is because now you have a target to work with in regard to healing and wholeness. Joy and Grief Can Coexist A common struggle in grief is reconciling moments of joy with the pain of loss. Dr. McNeil reassures us that experiencing joy does not betray our grief or love that was attached to our loss. Instead, it is part of the healing process, allowing us to live fully even amidst sorrow. Overcoming the Overcast As mentioned she's an author and her latest book titled "Overcoming the Overcast: Navigating the Storms of Life with God," is her book that she describes as a “love letter” to those experiencing loss. It combines scripture, neuroscience, and counseling principles to provide a practical guide for navigating grief. She emphasizes that, like a storm, grief can feel overwhelming, but the "Son of God is still shining" above the clouds, offering hope and healing. Final Thoughts Grief is a complex journey, and faith can provide a powerful anchor. Whether through scripture, community, or personal reflection, finding ways to navigate grief with hope and resilience is crucial. Dr. Amanda's insights remind us that while loss may be a part of our story, it does not define the entirety of our lives. If you're in need of encouragement and hope today, listen in to receive the wisdom and guidance that Dr. McNeil offers those who are navigating the storms of grief and loss. Musicians Creating Prosperity: A Music Business Guide To Freedom
In this episode of the Musicians Creating Prosperity Podcast, Dr. Fabiana Claure shares a powerful message on how forgiveness can be the catalyst for creative and financial breakthroughs. Many musicians carry resentment—towards their educational path, their past decisions, or even themselves. This emotional weight can silently block progress and clarity. Fabiana reflects on her personal journey, including the realization that her traditional music education left out vital entrepreneurial training. She explains how releasing resentment and choosing forgiveness opened the doors to building her first business, serving others, and eventually creating the Musician's Profit Umbrella® method. Key Takeaways: The Role of Forgiveness in Career Growth: Understand how holding on to resentment—towards institutions, people, or yourself—can sabotage your success. Recognizing the Gaps in Traditional Music Training: Fabiana opens up about her shock upon realizing her doctoral degree hadn't prepared her for real-world career demands. From Victim to Visionary: Learn how to step into the role of CEO in your life and career by choosing action over blame. How to Pivot When Your Old Path No Longer Serves You: Why building more of the same won't lead to freedom—and what to do instead. She also mentioned that when life gets overwhelming, It's crucial to pause and take a deep breath before reacting to any situation. Her words spoke to me. I tend to be an "over-responder." I might get irritated with someone before I have all the information about a situation. I might wake up upset because of a restless night, and my negative thoughts kick in, telling me how tough the day will be. How could my life be different if, instead of following my default of reacting, I took a minute, slowed down my breathing, pushed the pause button, gathered my thoughts, and then responded INSTEAD of reacting? Nervous System: This would help my body stay in a parasympathetic state (the rest and digest state), so my body wouldn't produce as many stress hormones. This means I'd have lower levels of inflammation and, honestly, better relationships! Immune System: Staying calm supports the immune system and allows your body to produce more "happy hormones," such as serotonin and melatonin, which means you fall asleep faster. The Joy Factor: thinking the best about people means I look for joy everywhere I go. When I see someone wearing a cute outfit or making me a fabulous matcha latte, I PRAISE THEM! The Bible says, to the best of my abilities, be at peace with people at all times. Pro tip: The scripture above says that, to the best of my abilities, sometimes it's impossible to be at peace with some people, and you know what? That's okay, too. The older I get, the more I realize my gift to people is letting them be who they are. ____ Water Filtration: Boroux I've been looking for a water filter for two years. Okay, maybe I'm a little picky...but my research paid off. I've chosen the Boroux Filter system and am really happy with it. Are you curious about my criteria? Here's what I was looking for in a filter: Removal of heavy metals. The Boroux removes 99.36% of heavy metals. Pharmaceuticals are removed. Because people don't dispose of drugs properly, the drugs get into our water system. The Boroux removes 99.5% of pharmaceutical contaminants. Glyphosate removal (glyphosate is the active ingredient in Roundup and is a known carcinogen). A year ago, I was tested for glyphosate and was in the 95th percentile. I was shocked! Since I was already eating mainly organic, my doctor suggested getting a water filter. I had a challenging time finding one that would filter this chemical, and this was one of my main drivers for purchasing this filter. Boroux has a special offer for my community. Click the link below to research and purchase. https://boroux.sjv.io/7aM1a3 ____ Just Add Buoy Companies contact me every week, asking me to try their products. Honestly, I get food and supplement samples almost weekly! Last week, a San Diego company called Just Add Buoy emailed me to ask if I wanted to try their electrolyte formula. I said yes because I've been looking for an electrolyte formula (without tons of sugar, both fake and real and no dyes) for years. They sent me some samples, and I must tell you how much I love them. I'm trying the Hydration Drops, and they have 87 trace minerals, Ionic ocean electrolytes, and antioxidants. And, also important to me, NO SUGAR (FAKE OR REAL), NO ADDITIVES OR DYES. And it's non-GMO. I like that it's flavorless, and I can add it to a smoothie or even my morning coffee without noticing any flavor change. Compensations in the body can lead to foot pain. Addressing the root causes of foot pain and adopting a comprehensive approach are crucial for long-term relief. Ditch the temporary fixes! In this episode of The MOVEMENT Movement, Steven Sashen speaks with Angela Walk, DC, The Plantar Fasciitis Doc. She has developed a six-step program to effectively address plantar fasciitis at home, challenging misconceptions about the condition. Her approach emphasizes transitioning to functional footwear with wide toe boxes and zero drop to promote natural foot function and reduce reliance on orthotics, which can weaken foot muscles. Key Takeaways: → Why functional footwear is crucial in preventing conditions like plantar fasciitis. → How orthotics can weaken foot function and contribute to foot problems. → Why elevated heels in footwear can lead to gait issues and muscle tension. → Why plantar fasciitis rehabilitation should focus on strengthening lower leg muscles, not stretching. → How gradually transitioning to barefoot walking improves foot health. Dr. Angela Walk, a distinguished sports chiropractor with 25 years of experience based in Nashville, Tennessee, is renowned for her expertise in treating plantar fasciitis and challenging the common misconceptions surrounding its treatment. Send us a textWhat happens when a high-producing physician decides to walk away from a successful 25-year medical career? Dr. Susan Baumgaertel shares her transformative journey from traditional internal medicine to patient advocacy and authorship in this candid conversation.Dr. Baumgaertel's story begins with a familiar scenario—working nonstop, taking minimal vacation, and feeling the mounting pressure of productivity demands. In the chaos, she found ways to maintain her humanity by incorporating her passion for art into patient care. The paintings by her late mother that adorned her office walls created unexpected healing connections with patients, illustrating how medicine and creativity can intersect in powerful ways. The conversation takes a fascinating turn as Dr. Baumgaertel explains her preference for the term "moral injury" over "burnout." While burnout can affect professionals across various industries, moral injury refers to the violation of a physician's ethical code when corporate interests take precedence over patient care. Now as an MD Advocate, Dr. Baumgaertel has created a unique model that supports rather than competes with traditional medical care. She helps patients navigate complex systems while providing physicians with the backup they need for thorough discussions that today's time constraints often do not allow. Her book, "The Menopause Menu," further extends this mission, providing accessible, evidence-based information structured like a meal—appetizer, entrée, palate cleanser, and dessert.Perhaps most inspiring is her commitment to daily walking, regardless of weather, where she solves problems and maintains mental clarity. This simple practice embodies her philosophy that self-care is not selfish, but essential for physicians who want to provide compassionate care without sacrificing their well-being.Dr. Baumgaertel's parting wisdom rings true: "Listen to yourself." Your authentic journey in medicine may look different from what you imagined, but that might be precisely what you need.Listen to yourself! Listen to pay attention!CONNECT WITH DR. In this episode of Sharkpreneur, Seth Greene speaks with Dr. Emily Splichal, the Founder of Naboso, about her journey from competitive gymnastics to podiatry, which has led her to revolutionize foot health through sensory stimulation technology. Drawing from insights in her book Barefoot Strong, she discusses the science behind barefoot movement, the effectiveness of textured insoles, and how strengthening the feet can enhance overall mobility, longevity, and recovery. Key Takeaways: → How Naboso bridges the gap between podiatry and functional movement. → Why learning funding strategies and leadership skills is crucial for entrepreneurs. → How education, content, and storytelling are vital aspects of marketing. → Why Naboso focuses on educating consumers about the importance of foot health and movement longevity. → Why entrepreneurs need the right team to prepare themselves for growth. What if your trauma doesn't count you out, but actually gives you superpowers to achieve more than you ever thought possible? In this enlightening conversation, clinical psychologist Dr. Charlynn Ruan shares her expertise on women's mental health, especially for high-achieving women and female founders. She explains how trauma can become a catalyst for growth rather than a limitation, discusses the unique mental health challenges women face throughout different life stages, and offers practical advice for ADHD, insomnia, and reaching peak performance. Dr. Ruan provides insight into how our brains process trauma and how treatments like EMDR can help release trapped trauma. Whether you're struggling with anxiety, sleep issues, or simply want to optimize your performance, this episode offers valuable guidance on understanding your brain and body to create strategies that work for you. KEY TAKEAWAYS → Trauma can be a powerful catalyst for growth rather than a limitation - Post-Traumatic Growth is real. When we use difficult experiences to grow, we can become "wiser, faster, smarter" and accomplish incredible things. → EMDR therapy helps process trapped trauma by moving memories from the reactive amygdala to the "filing cabinet" hippocampus, making them less triggering. → Women's sleep struggles often stem from biological differences, hormonal fluctuations during perimenopause, and evolutionary roles as caregivers - understanding these factors is crucial for finding effective solutions. → ADHD presents differently in women than men, often overlooked because symptoms don't match the hyperactive stereotype - adult women with ADHD frequently internalize shame messages about being "lazy," "messy," or "unable to follow through." → High-achieving women need to treat themselves like race cars with proper maintenance and support teams - it's not about slowing down but ensuring all systems are optimized for sustained performance. QUOTES FROM DR. CHARLYNN RUAN "You know you have trauma if you feel like sometimes you lose your free will. You're walking along in the world, you see something, and then all of a sudden you interact with somebody, and then you feel like a child—feel like a child as opposed to the powerful woman that you are." "I see you're a race car, and the answer isn't going to be tootling down the back lane, but you have to know that you can't have these loose bolts on your car rattling, because that's going to cause a crash. Get early about listening to what your nervous system needs." CONNECT WITH DR. Oh, if I had a time machine and could return to when our kids were young, I would. I made my life complicated because I made our meals complicated. Let me explain: I became a mom at 40. I married Steve, who had two precious (most of the time ) daughters. So, I became an instant mom to two preteens, and as a bonus, I could finally use my nutrition training on my family. Hmmm...do you see any potential problems? I would make elaborate, nutrient-dense multi-course meals. These meals were so much work that I was almost too tired to eat or clean the kitchen. When the kids complained that the lunches I packed could feed three of their friends, it didn't faze me a bit. But they were so much work! We would order pizza if I was running late from work and couldn't make the elaborate meals. I couldn't seem to find the middle ground. As I shared this story with today's podcast guest, Dr. Tabatha Barber, she explained that most of her meals can be put together in 20 minutes or less—I say YES to that idea! Dr. Tabatha is the author of Fast To Faith, a best-selling book that contains her 20-minute or less recipes. ______ Ground Luxe When I was forced into menopause with my cancer diagnosis, restful sleep NO LONGER HAPPENED FOR ME. One of my podcast guests shared that he has become a great sleeper, partly thanks to grounding sheets. After my skepticism passed, my desperation to sleep took over. I started reading articles, and I discovered that the science is solid. Studies have shown that participants using grounding sheets experience a significant drop in cortisol levels, leading to improved sleep quality and reduced stress. What did I have to lose? I researched, found the best grounding sheets on the market for the best price, and bought them. It took me a few nights, but I sleep much deeper now. I fall asleep faster and wake up feeling refreshed! I wish someone had told me about these sheets years ago. I contacted the company, and they offered my community a 20% discount! https://groundluxe.com/deborahenos Use the code Enos20 for 20% off. ______ Air Dr. I've been using the Air Doctor air purifier for almost a year and absolutely love it! I first heard about it from Dr. Mark Hyman, and even though it was a bit of a splurge compared to what I usually spend, I'm so glad I invested. Every time I change the filter and see all the gunk it collects, I smile, knowing it's doing a great job keeping my air clean! And I'm so happy that all that gunk isn't going into my body ;) Click here to purchase: https://airdoctorpro.com/?oid=17&affid=6165 ______ About Dr. Tabatha Barber Dr. Tabatha Barber is a doctor, author, speaker, and devoted Jesus-lover, as well as a proud mom and grandma. What a treat to have Dr. Tabatha Barber, author of the best-selling book Fast To Faith, on the podcast. She explained that our bodies function like a chemistry experiment. When we think in a certain way, we produce chemicals that can have positive or negative effects. I don't know about you, but I do find it shocking that the thoughts I think can create chemical messengers in my body that can heal me or harm me. You have so much more power than you realize! We also discussed a topic near and dear to my heart, JOY. Where's your joy? If we put everyone else first, that will steal your happiness. Dr. T. explained that we get caught up in the lie that taking care of ourselves is selfish. She said that she felt God tell her that caring for herself wasn't selfish but SELF PRESERVATION. Dr. Tabatha shared simple tips that can help you to change your mindset and increase your daily joy. Please enjoy part one of this conversation and join us next week when we talk about 20-minute or less dinners, fasting, and her lifelong battle with depression. ______ Young Living Here's the link to my favorite essential oil kit from Young Living!
