He was talking about some fundamental issues all of us face today - mindset, quality of relationships, technology and even networking. However, his company focuses on providing training to teenagers, who are the leaders of tomorrow. What a genius idea! Essentially he has taken an executive training program and is delivering it to young people - I found this fascinating since this is similar to the services I provide to my clients now! We have thoughtful conversations around learning vs. education and the main areas he helps students with now. New Wordsscrew up [ˈskruː ʌp] 弄糟;搞乱;毁坏If I screw up, I might not get married. royally [ˈrɔɪəli] adv. They then get royally drunk in his memory. Quote to Learn for TodayWe need to accept that we won't always make the right decisions that we'll screw up royally sometimes-understanding that failure is not the opposite of success, it's part of success.

Today I would like to offer a quick comparison of leader and manager behaviors.Though I am comparing Would like to emphasize that neither side is better than the otherEvery one of the behaviors that I talk about today can and should come into play at some pointNo specific way that will always be the correct path to takeStatementManagers deal with things while leaders deal with peopleOne of the first things that are different would be the use of authorityManagers tend to retain authority while leaders trend towards sharedEnsure that things were done in the correct way and get the job done as planned and expected.Another mentor of mine took me aside one day and asked why I felt it was necessary to do everything myselfI explained that I had been taught to maintain constant controlHis counter to that statement was just because you release some authority and delegate effectively does not mean that you are not in controlWhat an eye-openerI could delegate and in the process get more accomplishedOver the years I learned how to establish what style fo manager or leader I would need to be during projectsCertain jobs would allow for freedom while others would require set parametersNext discovery for me As a manager, I was trained to plan and define limitsWe would create detailed plans and the expectation was that the plan be followedAs I grew and matured in my roles I began to learn about expanding limits. We could stick to the plan but think outside the box as well Try new ways of doing things. Perhaps enhance the way we were completing tasks daily and become more efficientWould like to stress new and excitingYou can create itInnovate And expand in so many waysThis is why I love my subject matterI can go about it in a new fashionI get to expand the limits of leadership and management My next comparisonManagers enforce while leaders reinforceIn management roles, we are often in controlThe enforcement of parameters and set process falls to the manager to ensure that things are done correctly While the leaders perspective is very similar there is a slight change in attitude The focus is still on the end goal but also on the people and how they can make them do betterExpanding forwardManagement many times causes the rules to be strict. It restricts creativity and completes tasks in a set fashionWhile leaders encourage creativityCertain jobs and tasks require us to manage while others will allow us to leadWe must learn when and how to decide which to useIn the final trait, we will speak about todayWe will talk about communication and the difference between the two Managers use a one-way communication tactic while leaders would be more in the two way communication campManagers are often called upon for difficult tasks and conversations or when the details of a task need to be clear and concise. The manager needs to know how to talk while others listen and take note of what they are saying.Leaders would use a more open discussion style fo communicationThey would ask the team members what they thought prior to making decisionsTeam members are encouraged to give input and ask questions This is very much a set of behaviors that aBuzzsprout - Let's get your podcast launched! We need assimilation of the right belief into the rest of our life. There is a danger that we are socializing people to Christianity rather than meeting Jesus. Their understanding of faith extends beyond just attending weekend church and into the work, they are about during the week. “Redefine Faith: live on earth as it is in heaven” Rethinking the word vocation for young people todayWe must rethink our work as a vocational coach. We should be about people development. What every Christian parent wants for their kids: 1. To have a relationship with Jesus.2. A healthy and loving family and kids.3. A sustainable career that they will enjoy.Vocational coaching would redefine not only our work at youth ministry but redefine Codename: Bowstring- the untitleSupport the show (http://community.youthministrybooster.com/)

How do you teach your employees how to listen? We listen in 2 dimensions - we listen in black and white right now - but we can listen in more colors, and we can listen more deeply.Listen to someone on TV who you fiercely disagree with. What’s the difference between hearing vs listening? What assumptions and prejudices do you hold? How do you become aware of your listening blind spots?Spend 30 minutes listening to someone who you fiercely disagree with, and you will start to really understand your listening blind spots. We spend a huge chunk of our lives screaming to be noticed. Hearing = here sounds. Listening = make sense of what you hear. The difference between hearing and listening is the action you take. Deep listening is helping the person who is speaking make sense of what they’re saying Three key lessons from neuroscience about listeningWe can listen so much faster than we can speak, it creates a massive opportunity for us to get distractedYou must be an “empty vessel” to focus on someone else and actually listen to them 3 Quick tips to center yourself in a conversationBefore you even think about listening to the speaker, you have to be ready to listen. When somebody says something, treat silence at the end of what they say like it’s another word. 3 Phrases to continue any conversationIn our rush to fill the silence, we miss out on quite a lot. When you use phrases like “tell me more” you give someone the opportunity to align their thoughts more clearly, think through the idea, and figure out the most important themes and ideas to shine through in the conversation. How many breakthroughs are you missing in your organization just because you’re not listening? 5 Levels of Listening“You’ve heard something in 25 minutes that we couldn’t hear in 3 months"A powerful question that can solve insurmountable business problems: Who are you not listening to right now?Sometimes the people you really need to listen to aren’t in the room. The only way to get someone to see the gap between where they are today and where they want to be tomorrow is by ASKING THEM A QUESTION, not by telling them. The magic happens when you put your attention on other people instead of just putting it on yourself. If the question if about YOU and YOUR understanding, it’s not as powerful as a question helping THEM improve THEIR understanding. Homework: Listen to something you deeply disagree with for 30 minutes.  Learn more about your ad choices.
