    Ivy Insights

The BBQ Central Show podcast, hosted by Greg Rempe, has been a staple in the barbecue community since it first aired over 14 years ago. As an avid listener since 2009, I have always appreciated Greg's meticulous research and show preparation. His interviews with guests, many of whom are BBQ Hall of Famers, are always informative and detailed. The longevity of the podcast speaks volumes about its quality, as it remains in the top 5% of all podcasts in terms of downloads.

One of the best aspects of The BBQ Central Show is Greg's ability to bring on a wide range of guests who offer unique perspectives on barbecue and live fire cooking. Whether it's seasoned professionals, business owners, or backyard enthusiasts, there is something for everyone. Each episode provides tips, tricks, and secrets that can improve your own BBQ skills. From recipes to techniques to technology, you'll find everything you need to enhance your barbecue journey.

While some may be initially put off by the sound effects used throughout the show, I have grown accustomed to them and now appreciate their comedic value. However, I understand that they may not be everyone's cup of tea. Additionally, while most guests are engaging and provide valuable insights, there are occasionally episodes where the guest may not be as captivating. Nevertheless, even in these instances, I still manage to take away something valuable from each show.

In conclusion, The BBQ Central Show podcast is a must-listen for anyone interested in barbecuing or live fire cooking. Greg Rempe's dedication to providing informative and entertaining content shines through in every episode. With a diverse lineup of guests and a wealth of knowledge shared each week, this podcast is sure to satisfy any barbecue enthusiast. So hit that subscribe button and get ready to elevate your grilling game!

Episode 449Taking you back to 5/21/2019 - This week, I'm featuring a guest who holds a special place in my heart—so much so that I've nominated her for the BBQCS Great Hall of Fame (GHOF) for several years running, and I'll be doing so again for the Class of 2026. Her name is Sara Lewis, and she shares a direct connection to our original Tennessee Embedded Correspondent, Steve Ray.Her name might not ring a bell, as her only appearance on the show was over seven years ago. However, there is a specific reason she deserves to be in the GHOF. At the time of our interview, she was working for Stanley—the company behind the viral mugs that have taken over the world in the last five years. We discussed her professional journey, how she landed at Stanley, and the products themselves. She was an incredibly engaging guest with great energy. Here is the "nugget" that makes her stand out: Unbeknownst to me, the evening we recorded the interview was her very last day at Stanley. She was already out the door and moving on to a new role. Think about that—if you had just finished your last day at a company, would you keep your commitment to sit down and do an interview about them? Most people wouldn't. This proves two things: first, Sara was raised right and honors her commitments to the very end; and second, it speaks to her high level of professionalism. On that merit alone, she deserves the GHOF nod far more than some folks I could mention (looking at you, Adam Perry Lang).Listen closely to that detail during the show this Friday. And yes—please note that the audio quality is from a different era of the show and is not up to our current standards. Please, no emails about the sound—I know!**Don't forget to rate and review the show on your podcast app.**Want to hear more from this episode? In this segment, we talked about why he decided to run for the board…and ultimately…why he chose to resign his position back in the early summer of 2009. I was talking to someone the other day about the history of the show…and as Jon Solberg has said many times…The BBQ Central Show is actually a real-time account of what has been happening, changing and evolving in the BBQ and grilling industry. If you wanted to get a snap shot of the industry over the past 2 decades…you really just need to go back and listen to the shows to see what was popular and important at any particular time between the years 2006 up until 2026. Not even the segment where Michael “Medium Rare” O'Donnell asked me…live on this show…and I quote…”Have you ever fucked an Elephant??” Not even that, comes close to the Chad Ward “Bear Trapper” story that you are set to hear this coming Friday morning!I welcome your feedback…and remember, this segment was the genesis for the very first “animated segment” on the show…which I will go ahead a replay next week…but be sure to listen to the Best Moments Show this coming Friday…and tell me if I am wrong!Ready to make a “BEST OF” show all your own?? Episode 431Taking you back to 8/30/2022 - What is the start of a 4 part series that Jon has put together…mostly with the segment that featured Johnny Mags and Mr. J when they went head to head in a burger cook off…now almost 4 years ago! However, in this portion…we get to hear me tease an old take on the YMCA and what REALLY goes on in the men's locker room…and if you've never heard it…you need to…it's a great take by me…and, horrifyingly enough…is all TRUE.  Let me tease you with these words….NAKED….MAN….ASS. Then, I reveal the Moe Cason animation that became an instant classic…like all the rest of them did.Ready to make a “BEST OF” show all your own??
