The Defense Nuclear Facilities Safety Board is a small, independent federalagency that serves as a watchdog for the Department of Energy's nuclear weaponscomplex. It is supposed to have five members, but it currently has only two. And onemember's term expires on October 18 th . If one or more board positions aren't filled on orbefore October 18 th , the Safety Board will no longer have a quorum to operate. However, discipline works to bring righteousness and peace, and discipline brings fruit to us and our children down the road. For what son is there whom his father does not discipline? If you are left without discipline, in which all have participated, then you are illegitimate children and not sons. During Hall of Fame Honors Weekend in Stillwater, Oklahoma, we got a chance to get outside of central Stillwater for a bit and meet up with Dr. Brandon Mason. A four-time NCAA Division I qualifier and 2007 All-American at 174 pounds for Oklahoma State, Mason is now a radiologist at Stillwater Medical Center. Mason was also recently on a tour as the team doctor with USA Wrestling at the All-World qualifier in Istanbul. In this episode of Short Time, we break down Mason's entry into wrestling coming from western Iowa and the famed Lewis Central High School program, his early desire to be a radiologist and how he ended back up in Stillwater. He'll also touch on his career as a Cowboy, his relationship with recent inductee Coleman Scott and current Little Rock head coach Neil Erisman and what his experience as a wrestler has brought not just to his tours with Team USA, but his time back matside in Gallagher-Iba Arena as part of the wrestling program's medical personnel. We hear about an exciting project to save and record accounts of shipwreck survivors. The project's goal is to raise awareness and understanding of the experiences of those who have been unfortunate enough to experience shipwreck. This is crucially important at a time when familiarity with life at sea is diminishing and there is a noticeable absence of empathy for seafarers in distress - and yet, as a maritime nation, seafaring remains a huge part of our history and shipping is a growing industry that brings us ever more of our worldly needs. To find out more Dr Sam Willis spoke with Daniel Jamieson who is running the research project at the University of Plymouth. They discuss the long and fascinating history of shipwreck survivors' accounts before discussing the many interviewees who have already contributed to the project, providing eyewitness insights into a variety of contemporary and well known maritime disasters as well as far more personal stories of maritime disaster. The stories include Helen Cawley, who survived the sinking of the liner Lakonia in 1963 as a 14-year old; Sheelagh Lowes, stranded on Suwarrow of the Cook Islands in the South Pacific 1996 for 6 months, her yacht Short Time having been thrown on a reef; a number of survivors of the sinking of the liner Andrea Doria in 1956; Sara Hedrenius, who survived the sinking of the ferry Estonia in 1994 in the Baltic; and Ben “Skippy” Cummings whose vessel capsized andsank on a reef off Antigua, four miles from the finish of his trans-Atlantic race.
