Nick Pirog is the bestselling author of the Thomas Prescott series, the 3:00 a.m. series, and The Speed of Souls. He lives in South Lake Tahoe with his two pups, Potter and Penny. We are discussing his new book JUNGLE UP and will discuss his completely unique series 3:00am (Henry Bins). About JUNGLE UP: Two years ago, Dr. Gina Brady broke Thomas Prescott's heart, but now her panic-stricken satellite phone call starts it beating again with a fury. Thugs kidnapped the good doctor from the remote jungle village where she was working, and now the retired homicide detective's expert skills are desperately needed to save her. Led by a colorful, but perhaps untrustworthy local guide, Prescott journeys deep into the Bolivian Amazon, plunging into a world where the only thing more dangerous than the gun-toting drug traffickers and the ruthless tribesmen, is the jungle itself. When Gina's trail leads to a chance encounter with an archaeological expedition, the search for the missing doctor takes on even deadlier consequences. But Prescott will not relent in this punishing quest until, once again, he holds Gina in his arms. www.nickpirog.com Host Pam Stack is a book junkie, cat herder and an internationally awarded victims rights advocate. Robert from Maple Valley has called for help with his girlfriend Gina who is says has not been keeping up with her hygiene during the pandemic. When we press him further it turns out he's not talking about cleanliness, he's complaining specifically that she's not waxing her bikini area and he is totally turned off by it. He says he understands that no one else is seeing it at the beach or anything, but he is seeing it and Gina should consider him important enough to keep up her appearance for him. When Gina comes on, she is surprisingly calm but clearly pissed off that Robert is making such a big deal about this. She says she keeps clean and shaves pretty often but she's not gonna do it every single day. And she reminds us - and Robert - that waxing is not allowed everywhere in salons right now and she's not qualified to do it to herself. But when Robert asks why his friend Josh's wife has been able to get waxed, things get really hairy.
Self-love is more than taking long, luxurious baths. It's being true to yourself, falling in love with your life, and creating moments of pleasure throughout your days. I'm joined by Gina Swire (https://ginaswire.com/) to talk about her journey into self-love and how she helps other divine women fall in love with themselves every day. About Gina Swire Gina Swire is a self-love expert, mentor, and manifesting queen on a global mission to help a billion women fall madly in love with themselves. After struggling with her own self-worth and image issues, Gina quit her career as a plus-size model at the height of her fame in order to embark on her own journey of transformation. Today she travels the world leading live workshops, hosting retreats, coaching private clients, and speaking on stages from Burning Man to Bali, as she inspires women everywhere to love themselves, love their lives, and use it all to do good for the planet. About Shifting Into Self-Love So many powerful women have pasts full of pain or trauma. One of the most powerful lessons we can learn is how to turn these experiences into power, dharma, and transformation. Gina shares how she turned away from her successful modelling career when it no longer felt in alignment with her soul's purpose. She used these years of internal strife and trauma to start tapping into her divine inner bliss. When Gina realised that she no longer needs to rely on others to bring her happiness and love, her bliss and life opened up for her. One way that Gina discovered how to manifest the life she truly desired was to create a vision board (even though she didn't know what it was then). This vision board helped her stay focussed on the big picture of what she wanted. Something that she needed to realise, though, before she could move forward and heal was who she was. Gina spent all these years in modelling being told how to dress and who to be. But when she left the career, she found she didn't know who she was and what kind of clothes Gina Swile would wear. This led Gina on a journey to discover who she is. Travelling the world and staying in places like Bali helped Gina feel the most herself. But when lockdown happened, obviously we can't keep globetrotting. Gina figured out that she doesn't actually need to go to these places to be who the truest representation of herself. Now, Gina leads a life in alignment with herself, following her soul's purpose, and falling deeply in love with herself. She's stopped trying to please other people, instead staying focussed on herself only. Gina shares how you, too, can start falling in love with yourself, no matter what's going on in your life. From repeating self-love mantras to yourself to Marie-Kondoing joy into your entire life, you are worthy and capable of the kind of self-love that you crave. How are you showing yourself that you love yourself today? What ways have you learned to step into your truth? Let me know in the comments, lovely! In This Episode How you can turn your pain into power, your trauma into dharma How to connect with your divine inner bliss What power there is in creating vision boards Why you should try to actually be YOU, not someone else or someone you think you should be How to transition out of people pleasing modes What happens when you give yourself permission to be yourself no matter where you are in the world How to fall in love with yourself Why you need to surround yourself with joyful things Quotes "I'm the only one who knows how to dress me. Yes, stylists can dress me up as someone else, but I'm the only person who knows who I am." (26:59) "I choose to trust in the divine. I choose to trust in the Universe. And I choose to trust that whatever evolves is right and perfect." (37:36) "No, if there's one person that's going to love themself in this world, it's going to be me. And if there's one person who's going to love me, it's going to be me. I'm the only one I've got. I love you." Romans 8:28 "...all things work together for good..." My children recently jumped out of a perfectly good airplane. I had jumped out of an airplane before to get over my fear of heights. As you climb to the right altitude, they then tell you... "It's now your turn to jump." It is scary. Your stomach feels like it's in your throat... but we all survived. When Gina and I lost our son to cancer, it felt like we couldn't survive...

Some of the key take-aways are here, tune in to get the full experience: Things We Learned From This Episode Disability is a metaphor for life. If you don't feel good enough you'll take that belief with you. If you look at what you can't do, your life becomes smaller. When Gina was told she'd be in a wheelchair, she decided to focus on what she could do and where she could make a difference. A few days later she took the promotion at her school as the new principal, and never looked back. Her wisdom is to focus on what does work. Tips to change your limiting and crippling beliefs: a) be mindful of the quality of your thoughts, as 95% are habitual. Choose ones that will be life-giving. b) Learn to be grateful and collect gratitudes to help rehabilitate your brain. c) the only person responsible for your quality of life is you. Watch what you're saying and speak carefully affirming yourself whenever you can. An example is, 'while I used to be depressed, I am getting better and better'. Speak positively of yourself in the present tense. Enjoying the show? Dr. and Mrs. Martin are, under some pressure from Donna, trying to integrate Gina into their lives -- which, in the immediate future, means their Christmas festivities. Of course she's invited to the family celebration on Christmas Day, but though Donna is hot for Gina to come to the Martins' big Christmas Eve party, her parents are still worried about how they'd introduce Gina to all their boring old judgmental friends. When Gina lets them off the hook by saying she doesn't want to attend, Felice finds her at the hotel to bust out the old checkbook and buy Gina a better attitude. At the same time, Donna is trying to forgive not just her parents' lies but Noah's, because it turns out his constant assertions that he's "over" causing the death of his fiancée aren't getting Donna there any faster. Despite her attempts to get herself out of it, Kelly is still in a love triangle with Matt, the steady lawyer who will apparently put up with all her crap, and Dylan, the hothead who'll punch a cranky neighbor and then pay him off not to press charges. Whichever will she find more appealing for the long run?! Finally, a chance encounter at a Christmas tree lot reminds us all that Janet's still estranged from her parents, like to the point where they don't even know their grandchild has been born. Will Steve broker peace? When Gina watched Avengers: Infinity War, she was non-plussed to say the least. With Tina out of town, our goof friend Matt was invited to come over and watch the movie with some adult beverages. What follows is a totally unedited conversation about all things NERDY! This is a deep dive, people. Bring a towel because you're about to get wet with nerdy goodness.
Since Now Wear This has been closed ever since that homicide Kelly inconsiderately committed in it, the time has come for a big, splashy grand reopening -- which, due to reasons we never learn, Donna and Kelly have not decided to peg to the launch of Donna's menswear line. But never mind: "the buyers" from "New York" are coming four days early, so Donna's going to have to sew like she's never sewn before. Meanwhile, Gina is still holding a grudge against Princess Kelly, messing with her and Matt by "forgetting" to pass on Kelly's messages. Matt makes them agree to be civil for his sake, but Kelly makes that difficult by not learning her lesson and leaving a message on Matt's office answering machine about her growing doubts that running Now Wear This is where her career passions really lie. Obviously, Gina hears this before Matt does, and just as obviously, she "innocently" relays the news of Kelly's itchy feet to Donna to mess with their personal and professional relationship. Donna and Kelly are so desperate for extra hands that they can't refuse Gina's help after Matt has drafted her to assist in the menswear launch, and so dumb they don't foresee any potential issues in leaving her alone with a whole box of fashion show invitations. When Gina keeps the most important one and sets it on fire, a very predictable series of calamities ensues, culminating in the worst disaster of all: the gang dudes walking Donna's runway in open-toed slides. Dylan makes good on his pledge to Lucy, applying to resume his studies at CU. Unfortunately, CU thinks he is bullshit, and Dylan finds admission isn't something he can charm, bully, or buy his way into. After avoiding Janet for several days, Steve's exposure to nature documentaries convinces him that he is willing to father his child. He then proceeds to freak out, then overcompensate, and generally make Janet long for the days when he wasn't letting her down in her presence. We talk about all of it in our podcast on the disappointingly RuPaul-free "You Better Work"!SUPPORT AWT WITH A PERSONAL MESSAGEWish your friend a happy birthday or just call them a squeef with a AWT Personal Message. Steve has noticed that Janet's busting out of her bodices while also spending less time with him, and jumps to the conclusion that she's acquired some breast implants in anticipation of dumping his ass. Eventually she gets sufficiently annoyed with his hostility to admit that she's pregnant...whereupon Steve disappoints both Kelly's expectations and ours by acting like a real dick about it. It's also David's birthday, and for obvious reasons, Donna's left Gina off the guest list for the surprise party she's planning for him. (One suspects that Donna's come up with the idea of a surprise party at the club in order to force Noah to talk to her about logistics, if nothing else, but he's as sick of her shit, and her apologies, as we are.) When Gina finds out about the party, she assumes Dylan will also be sitting it out, and is stunned to learn that while the gang is punishing for boning him, they're not punishing HIM for boning HER. She develops a scheme to derail the party plans, which we assume Dylan wouldn't twig to even if he weren't caught up being a sponsor (lol) to Lucy, another current drug abuser who grew up in the hotel. Matt is still trying to reassure Kelly that he doesn't feel different about her since her rape, without seeming to understand that she feels different about her, and therefore that sex with him is not at the top of her to-do list (as it were). When Gina was growing up, spending was an accepted and expected way of life. Unfortunately those habits resulted in the accumulation of considerable credit card and student debt. It wasn’t until she found her dream house with the perfect kitchen that Gina converted to a frugal lifestyle, one that she shares via her popular blog the frugal convert. And even though she’s not a beer drinker, Gina graciously agreed to join us in our beer segment. The beer I selected for her is an excellent Oktoberfest from Sierra Nevada and Germany’s Weihenstephaner.
