Hughes has edited more than twenty films over the years, including Crash, for which he won an Oscar for film editing. Hughes is an elected member of the American Cinema Editors. Hughes has over the years edited Sling Blade, A Slipping-Down Life, The Pursuit of Happyness, The Great Debaters, Seven Pounds, Teen Patti, The Help, and Pixels.
