In this episode, I interview Leon Conrad, an author, educator, and story structure consultant and author of the multi-award-winning book, Story and Structure: A complete guide which won the IPNE Book of the Year Award for 2022. His next book, Master the Art and Craft of Writing is due out in 2023. Story and Structure: A complete guide is about story—as a dynamic force of life. It explores the deep structures which underpin stories. Leon argues that by following story back to its source, we can find more flow in our lives. For Leon, story has a purpose. Story generally appears when we face problems. Most story structures arise because we face different kinds of problems. There are problems we can easily solve ourselves, for instance, and others we can't easily solve without a little help from our friends. It's the differences in the kinds of problems that we face that give rise to different story structures. Find out more in this episode all about the hidden depths of story. Visit Leon's website: leonconrad.com/writer, join him on social media, sign up to his Substack newsletter and find out more about The Unknown Storyteller Project - a project that will take you deeper into the land of story than you have ever gone before. Publication details Story and Structure (528 pages (xxviii, 500)) is published in hardback in a signed limited edition of 450 copies (Aladdin's Cave Publishing, 10 August 2022, ISBN 978-09-55639-13-5 £40/$50) and in paperback (The Squeeze Press, an imprint of Wooden Books, 1 November 2022, ISBN 978-19-06069-25-4 £29.95/$39.95) and features over 20 black-and-white illustrations by Jason Chuang. Michael Glickman visited his first crop circle in 1990 after which he remarked that “he never got out”. A former architect, inventor and teacher, Michael brings a wealth of practical experience to the crop circle subject from the world of designing, making and of manipulating solid matter in the material world. However, in his more than twenty years of involvement with the crop circles, he has also made a veritable art-form of the deconstruction of crop circle designs to better understand their symbolism and, most importantly, their geometric properties. Nobody has undertaken more in this field than Michael. As a result, his work on the geometry of the circles is respected throughout the crop circle research community worldwide.Michael is a much-loved and influential figure in the crop circle world. Often outspoken, sometimes controversial, but always with a sharp wit, he is a renowned and inspirational speaker and writer; he has long occupied a central space at the heart of research into this phenomenon. Michael has written many articles on the crop circles including key contributions to the once great Cereologist magazine. His book, “Crop Circles“ (1996) is published by Wooden Books and is now in its third revised edition. He is also author of “Cornography“ (2007) and most recently “Crop Circles: The Bones of God“ (2009). This website is the latest incarnation of his work that will bring his informed comment to the global community of the world-wide-web. http://www.michaelglickmanoncropcircles.com/

Gary King:In 1997, while ill health caused him to take time out from work as a legal executive, Gary encountered his first Crop Circle. He was so deeply affected by this experience that he has devoted himself to researching the phenomenon ever since. An abiding interest in human consciousness prompted him to study the cultural use of psychedelic plants, and the evidence that such use enables contact with creative intelligences. Already a practicing Martial Artist, Gary pursues the more esoteric, internal styles and philosophies of the art. Returning to University in 2005, Gary studied Language and Communication with a particular emphasis on the science of semiotics. His particular interest is the way we, as humans, strive to derive meaning from signs and symbols. One of the three witnesses to the 07/07/07 East Field event, today Gary is a much sought after tour guide and lecturer. Michael Glickman: A leading lecturer, researcher and commentator Michael Glickman has long occupied a central space at the heart of debate on the crop circle phenomenon. A former architect and teacher, he is now a renowned and inspirational speaker and writer. His work on the geometry and interpretation of the crop circles has spanned over 20 years. Michael has written several regular columns on the crop circles over his career, both in print and on the internet. Wheat from the Chaff is his latest incarnation. He has written seven books including Crop Circles (published by Wooden Books). Cornography, a selection of his former column writing, was published in 2007 while his latest book Crop Circles the Bones of God was published in 2009.
