In today’s special year-end holiday episode, host Heather Creekmore welcomes author and speaker Cynthia Ruchti to the show for an uplifting conversation perfectly suited to the busy woman navigating the Christmas season. As the holidays approach, the to-do lists are long, and the “reason for the season” can easily get lost amid shopping, family obligations, and endless tasks. Heather Creekmore and Cynthia Ruchti encourage listeners to pause, ponder, and rediscover the wonder of Christmas, focusing on spiritual renewal rather than exhausting productivity. Together, they discuss Cynthia’s Christmas devotional, her insights on noticing God’s presence, embracing lingering and pondering, and shifting our attitudes to receive what God has truly prepared for us—even in the midst of chaos, disappointment, and the “distribution of labor” that often falls to women during the holidays. The episode is packed with relatable holiday circumstances, biblical reflections, real-life stories, and practical encouragement to rest in the joy, awe, and wonder that Christmas offers. Key Topics Discussed: Why slowing down and observing brings more spiritual refreshment than staying busy The power of “lingering”—with God, with loved ones, and in the moment God’s upside-down kingdom and the abundance found in trusting Him with our time and resources Noticing God in both the seen and the unseen aspects of the Christmas story The message of redemption woven throughout Scripture, from Isaiah to the nativity What holiday mishaps (yes, even broken goblets!) can teach us about perspective and joy Reframing holiday serving as a gift for ourselves, not just for others How to keep awe and wonder alive in our hearts, even when Christmas feels like another item on the checklist Practical encouragement for busy moms and grandmas feeling the holiday load Using Cynthia’s 26-day devotional for a richer, more intentional holiday season Resources & Links: Get Cynthia’s Christmas devotional book, Spirit of Christmas: Discovering His Presence (available on Amazon and hemmedinhope.com) *Amazon affiiate link, a tiny portion of your purchase will support this ministry. This week Pastor Ken starts our new series Rearranged with a message about how the way we handle money often reveals what we value, even more than our words do.He talks honestly about why money feels so personal, why it can make us uncomfortable, and how our spending, saving, and giving patterns give a window into what matters most to us. Ken also looks at what Jesus teaches about treasure, priorities, and the idea of “storing up” things that actually last.Send us a text

What does it look like to live out faith in real life?In this episode of Kitchen Table Theology, Pastor Jeff and Tiffany continue the Practical Theology Series with a discussion on practical faith. What does it mean to trust God daily, believe His promises, and hold on even when life feels uncertain? They explore how practical faith begins with need, grows through trust, and endures by believing in God's character rather than emotions. What We Discussed[01:42] What Is Practical Faith?Practical faith is trusting in God and His Word in daily life. It's active obedience expressed through love and reliance on Him, even when life constantly throws challenges our way.[03:17] Where Practical Faith BeginsFaith starts with recognizing our needs and choosing to trust God to meet them, as Philippians 4:19 reminds us that He supplies all our needs according to His riches in Christ Jesus.[04:33] Faith and Trust Go Hand in HandPsalm 37:5 gives us the formula for practical faith: Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He will do it. Pastor Jeff shares a story about learning to trust doctors through his own health struggles.[07:13] Believing the Promises of GodPractical faith also means believing in God's promises. Pastor Jeff points to Paul's faith in Acts 27 during a storm, reminding listeners that God's “exceedingly great and precious promises” are reliable and real.[09:26] Knowing God's PromisesTiffany emphasizes that we can't believe what we don't know. She shares Isaiah 41:10 and Proverbs 3:5-6 as examples of promises to hold on to when fear or confusion set in.[10:57] Faith vs. FeelingsFaith is based on fact and God's character, not personal feelings or preference.[13:40] Trusting God's InstructionsFaith requires obedience. Trusting God's wisdom means accepting and following His Word even when we don't understand His timing or ways.[15:30] Trusting God for the FutureTrue faith includes confidence in both our earthly and eternal futures. Our times are in His hands, and we can rest knowing He is faithful and able to do more than we can imagine.“Faith isn't based on how we feel. It's based on who God is.” - Pastor Jeff CranstonWe love your feedback! If you enjoyed this episode, leave us a review. What if everything in your life—your peace, your relationships, your faith—flowed from one simple principle: what you choose to give and what you choose to take? That's the profound truth David Reed unpacks in his book Give and Take, a guide to living fully within God's design. Drawing from Scripture and the lives of David, Nehemiah, Daniel, the Apostle John, and others, David reveals how this principle shapes our salvation, strengthens us for spiritual warfare, and deepens our gratitude. Whether you're wrestling with forgiveness, seeking peace, or striving for spiritual growth, his insights remind us that what we offer to God and what we receive from Him defines the way we live. Today, David shares how the Give and Take principle can transform your daily walk with Christ, renew your mindset, and bring clarity to life's challenges. Quotes: “Everything we think, do, and experience flows from what we give and take.” “God's design equips us for salvation, peace, and victory.” “What you give to God—and what you take from Him—defines the way you live.” Resources: Get Give and Take by David Read on Amazon

Cecil TaylorTeaching Christians How to Live a Seven-Day Practical FaithI have a mission to teach Christians how to live a seven-day practical faith. As a preacher's kid and as a long-time Sunday School teacher of adults, I kept hearing people say, "I can do this Christian stuff on Sundays, but it's hard for me to do it the rest of the week." I eventually felt a call to go outside my own church to share the gospel in new ways, urging Christians into a deeper level of following Jesus, through books, videos, speaking, blogs, podcasts, and more.Let me divide potential podcast topics into two: (1) parenting (2) putting faith into practice.Parenting is always a hot topic, and I'm well-prepared to discuss it. Besides raising three children (one adopted from China) to adulthood, my background includes teaching Christian parenting classes to 700 families in my church over a 15-year period. I was able to share proven parenting techniques along with things I had picked up along the way, watching families put my suggestions into practice, and getting real-time feedback. It has made me more confident in the material in "Unison Parenting."I also worked as both a volunteer and staff leader with the youth ministry of my churches for more than 30 years. Not only did I get to know teens very well, witnessing the changes and the similarities in teens over time, but I also observed the results of various parenting styles. This experience informs the second half of "Unison Parenting," which is focused on the teen years.Since I wrote the book, I have continued studying parenting and talking to parents, leading to new thoughts and techniques such as "Lean In, Not Away" to deal with what I call "opposition parenting." Have you ever been in a situation where you opened your mouth when maybe you should have bit your tongue instead? James says if you can tame your tongue you can bridle your whole body. This might be impossible this side of heaven, but there is a prayer in Psalm 39 to help us hold our tongues and walk in wisdom especially in the hight of our emotions. ----------------------------------------------------Long into today with a personal story of God's grace to our family! You can skip to the topic starting at min 8:10Plug in carbon detector: https://a.co/d/3vIjtcT----------------------------------------------------This podcast episode is so practical for our marriages, parenting, and relationships with other people. It will help us remember to be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry.----------------------------------------------------“Perhaps he feared that if he began to talk at all, he would be sure to speak amiss, and, therefore, he totally abstained. It was an easy, safe, and effectual way of avoiding sin, if it did not involve a neglect of the duty which he owed to God to speak well of his name.” (Spurgeon)"Lord, make us to consider this, that we may secure mansions in the house not made with hands." Matthew Henry"Watchfulness and resolution, in the strength of God's grace, will do more towards the bridling of the tongue than we can imagine, though it be an unruly evil." Matthew Henry When we are vexed and troubled and our emotions are mounting up, it is a good and wise thing for us to hit the pause button by asking the Lord to remind us of our brevity - that like Psalm 90 says, "teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom."Support the showLove wellness products for your whole family?
