Welcome to Coal and Salt! This is going to be as personal as it gets in terms of everything that I do. But again, who am I? Hi! I am Farhid! And these are going to be my mindless ramblings from the perspective of a time traveler. Interesting right? I hope all this interest stays till the very end and till then, Yours, Forever, Farhid
Sahir and his love for the country knows no bounds. He will always be remmebered for writing works like this. With the same intensity and his love for the nation and his vision for equality amongst all differentiating factors, he wrote "Tu Hindu Baenga Na Musalman Banega". I love to think that he is talking to a newborn and telling baout the demarcations of religion, whilst mentioning that there is a beacon of hope and pride that belongs to this country which has to be taken ahead by the future generation. Sahir, you beauty
Immortal. This is what defines this Nazm. Always has and always will. If you listen closely to this nazm, it will define the relationship of time with the universe. How meager we human beings are and how tiny we can be in the vast spectacle of this universe.Listen closely, for the universe is always listening.Mai Pal do Pal Ka Shayar Hu by Sahir LudhianviThe background score is "In the Distance" by Tony Anderson. In no form, entirety or whole, do I own the background music or the poetry. All I Own, is the Sky
They say "Manners maketh a man", i also believe memories as well do the same. I slept at 11:30 pm after the longest last night and was up at 5:15 am, just because of this letter. Nothing fancy, nothing crazy. Just this letter.Thought I will share it with you :)The artwork in the title is https://www.pinterest.com/pin/310185493063967124/The background music is Ariana by Tony AndersonI don't own the artwork or the background music, either in pieces or their entirety. There was someone before Amrita. Sahir's world was not always grey, it had a love that was reciprocated but then something else came in between them. Yaksui was written for her. .Notes and anecdotes for this episode are inspired by Akshay Manwani who wrote the book, "Sahir Ludhianvi: The Peoples Poet". Which he undoubtedly, was, is and always will be. .The notes and anecdots, the music, the poems, I own nothing about them, in pieces or entirety. All I own, is the sky.
Somethings should never be repeated again. For example, Umeed ka khat. That was an original masterpiece by itself and still remains so. To be honest, I do not think so that I will ever be able to top that one up. But then my midnight musings brought me over here..Umeed Ka Khat. The BGM is "Immanuel" by Tony AndersonCover art is "The Hope №7 Painting: by Natalia Baykalova. In parts or its entirety, I own nothing from the music or the artwork. All i own, is the sky.
To note, this is a "nazm" written when a lover moves on, when the relation is dead, when there is supposed to be no contact, when the shayar becomes a human..It is also said that when Sahir sah'b got to know about Imroz, that is when he wrote this hauntingly beautiful masterpiece. ."Tum Mujhko Bhool Bhi Jaao" by Sahir LudhianviBGM is "AADAT INSTRUMENTAL/BHANWARAY" feat. Goher Mumtaz from NESCAFÉ Basement Season 5.I own nothing from the poem or the song, in parts or entirety. All I own, is the sky
The iconic Rakhee, Amitabh Bachchan, Shashi Kapoor came together with Khayyam, Mukesh and Lata Mangeshkar to bring Sahir's words to life. .Here is my attempt at it.."Kabhi kabhi" by Sahir Ludhianvi
There are few who have written about the moon as beautifully as Ibn-e-Insha has. Lucky Ali immortalizes love in his own style, which stays with you forever. Be it with his voice or the musicAll we have to do now, is sit in awe of the geniuses of our generation."Uss Aangan ka Chaand" by Ibn-e-Insha with Gori Teri Aankhein as the BGM by Lucky Ali from the Unacademy Unwind sessions.
Art of Reading!! Welcome!!Back to back episodes of AoR are very very beautiful for me. Freshens up the mind, as well as gives me new pieces to write and read!Enjoy!P.S. End tak sun'na :)
Been a while to this!Sahir sah'b decided to make a comeback, but this time, not in my dreams. I got some new recording gear and I was utterly scared to use them. Maybe, I was scared to make mistakes. Sahir sah'b casually helped me record this, making sure I know my mistakes on the way as I recorded this. This is to him!Barely any sound (Read: Noise) was removed from the podcast. I am still getting used to the mic and the interface and it shall be fun! Let's see how and where do I reach from here!Till thenyours forever,Farhid :)
Another sleepless night, another day of blank spaces. But, CP will always have my heart.

Cheap places are absolutely necessary. Why? Listen on!
Use it as a sleep cast, use it when you are traveling in the metro, use it when you want to listen to a bored and zoned out Farhid. Use it to sleep, use it to entertain yourself. Maybe I might to get to know and hear something that I should have a long time ago. Till then, Yours forever, Farhid :)
Sleep has started to evade me once again. The background score is Symbols of Earth by Todd and Klein
The story finishes. This episode features music from Ustab Abdul Latif Khan who is playing Raag Bhairavi on the Sarangi and "Kesariya Balam" by the band Agnya.
Ek acha episode wo hota hai jo khud ki hi enlightenment kar de. Pre-writing and post-writing. Dono phases me.This was that for me.
Farhid makes pain look so cool. Yup. He does.
An year ago I had written about how the heart breaks, and I guess wo conversation beech me reh gayi thi. Is baar, use continue karte hai. Background music is "She Remembers" by Max Richter, used in all fairness.

There have been nights where I have not been able to sleep because of my dreams. This is a very very small introduction to the good in them. I haven't taken her name, but yes, Shweta is in all of them.
The background music is Cold by Jorge Mendez. In no parts or whole, do I own the music. All i own, is the sky
Revisited a couple of old friends and emotions in the past week but met my oldest of them all. Tanhai.
The hurt cycle is basically how we humans project hurt in our own personal past and present on to others. This is not a means for interpretation or replacement for therapy or a counsellor but to be used as generally as possible. For the uninitiated, I have a bachelors degree in Medicine and a masters in healthcare and have a notable number of hours of observership with therapists and counsellors. .Happy healing! The background track is "There were many things for we exist" by NOWT. .I hold no right to use over the music used in the podcast and it has been used with all fair intentions. All I own, is the sky.
